Island Tour Kuxtal

Kevin and group was great really pending of all of us.

Kevin was a fantastic guide. He shared lots of cultural and historic information about the island and its early Mayan inhabitants, drove us on a beautiful sightseeing tour, making stops for photos, beautiful beaches, a lesson on tequila making including a wonderful tasting, and we even saw crocodiles. He was friendly (seemed like he knew everyone on the island) and professional, a great driver and he was willing to cater our tour to our timetable and interests. We can’t recommend him enough!

Edwin was excellent and very informative. So much history. Also we felt like we had an exclusive experience since it seemed so intimate. Thanks!

We went on a royal caribbean cruise which stopped at two ports. We read through all of the excursions through the cruise line and were told to also check out viator. I spent an hour reading through all the excursions and reviews and decided based upon previous reviews to do the excursion with Kuxtal. I can not say enough how much we loved this entire experience. The vehicles are in great shape, but it’s the tour guides who really stood out to us. They accommodated our large group with two cars. Jorge and Julio were our guides and they took us all over to the best places for our group. They shared so much about their life and culture which really made it feel as though you were spending time with friends. They started our tour with taking us to a perfect souvenir shop. We then did a tequila tour at rancho Alejandro where we met Manny!!! He was so fabulous as well and our family so enjoyed the time there. Left with some amazing tequila. They then took us to this really neat beach spot where the kids could play and the water was so clear we could see all the fish. We had a tasty lunch on the beach and ended the day with a chocolate tour, which was well worth it. Honestly, I really can’t put words to how fabulous this experience was but all of my kids said it was the highlight of trip. We even told other cruisers we met the next day in costa maya about our trip and they changed their booking to go with Kuxtal. We look forward to going back!!! Thank you so so much.

Our guide Landy modified our tour according to our interest. She drove us around the island, explained the history and folklore of the area and stopped in the best spots for pictures. We highly recommend this company and our guide Landy. She was amazing!

Landy picked us up at our all inclusive. She was very informative and super friendly. She stopped at places so we could take pictures. We wasn't rushed at all. She and Claira made our vacation one to remember! "SAY QUESO" Thank you ladies!

We had a great day and experience getting away from the cruise port and crowds with Kevin in his Jeep. I didn’t get the chance to do my own research where we wanted to go and left it up to him. We drove exploring the island while learning some history, tequila ranch, and visited the Evo park with a beautiful beach area, lunch and climbed the lighthouse with beautiful views. I had no worries about getting back to cruise ship on time.

Our all inclusive hooked us up with the jeep tour, hosted by Kevin! What’s amazing is he guides us but we get to choose some of the places we’d like to go and the length of time we’d like to stay. He also kept us well stocked with water and soft drinks. Took us to places we’d never think to ask to see, stopped one place we really wanted to go to honor my father, as part of the tour we had entrance into Punta Sur… a place I hadn’t been to in 30 years and couldn’t wait to go see again! He even gave us a guided tour through the museum! He is an amazing ambassador for Cozumel, and knows so much of its rich history, commerce, feathered, furried, and residents, and modern findings! The jeep ride was comfortable. He knew where all the best fruits and unique drinks were. Upon meeting him, I knew we were kindred spirits, and I could trust this perfect stranger in front of me. He has an open spirit and friendly disposition. That’s immediately undeniable! Admittedly, I’m protective of myself and my mother with people I don’t know, but I didn’t worry for anything with Kevin! He even took us to do some shopping… Something we handle pretty well on our own, but he was ready to help us with any haggling and step in if he saw us being take advantage of. I t wasn’t just informative, it was fun, safe, and we’d absolutely do it again! In fact, we would hire him for things outside of the jeep tour and look forward to seeing him and his bride in the future. PS: He also takes amazing photos for you, and has an awesome eye for design and detail… Something I noticed immediately and appreciate greatly!

What an AMAZING day!! Kevin was awesome from start to finish!! It was my husband’s birthday and Kevin made I very memorable day! Picked us up with balloons in the jeep. They sang Happy Birthday at lunch. Took us tequila tasting, Punta Sur, Coconuts, BEST mojitos at welcome to Miami and saw wildlife. He knows everyone and made the day the greatest. When we come back we look forward to seeing him again!!!

Awesome excursion with Kevin! You get to see the most beautiful places in the island. Kevin is kind, courteous, and knowledgeable.

My wife and I went with Kevin and it was amazing! We did get to do the tequila tasting, which is by far the best tequila we have ever tasted! Kevin actually suggested against the Jade Caverns because this time of the year, even though we both had a second of disappointment we let Kevin take the reigns and he did not disappoint. He knows the area so well and we saw the most beautiful beaches, visited the be local bars that literally has the best mojito I have ever had and then he treated us to another great local restaurant with great authentic food. Highly recommend this guide company!

After traveling to Cozumel about 10 times and seeing all the cruise-related tours, we wanted to see more of Cozumel off the beaten path. We hired Kuxtal in advance thru Viator. Instructions to meet our driver were poor and made no since, but we found him by accident in front of the Royal hotel outside the terminal because we carried a sign that read Kuxtal/Viator. Whew! He saw the sign and called me by name, so I knew he was our driver. (I believe his name was Edwin) We briefed Edwin with pictures of what we'd like to see we haven't seen before in Cozumel which included "Coconuts" bar (real pretty and worth the visit!), the Eco Park with lighthouse and museum (most eastern land in Mexico with posted signs), a Natural Bridge beach with colorful Flags-a-Flyin', blow-holes, and the Tequila Factory where we sampled flavored tequila. We were given lots of historical information from our driver, Edwin, which made going from place to place interesting. He spoke of the first Spaniard (whose picture is shown on this review behind the ladies) who was captured by the Mayans but assimilated and stayed on Cozumel rather than return to Spain in the 1500s. Our tour was capped by an afternoon lunch. When we go to Cozumel again, we'd like to take Viator/Kuxtal once more to see more hidden Cozumel photographic gems.

Wonderful and personal tour all over the island. Landy was fabulous!!! Very knowledgeable and friendly. She let us spend as much time is we wanted at each spot. They were also very easy to book with. She took us to the most beautiful beaches and to the coolest cave with all these cute bats!! The ride was a little rough to get to the cave but totally worth it. Started off with a great tequila tasting with a tour that was just $5 extra. Had a lot of Mayan history, a home-made right in front of you Tortilla and salsa taco snack and tasted Mayan chocolate. It was definitely worth it. Then at the end took us to a great shop to get some souvenirs. Would definitely do this and any other tours by this family again when we come back.

Although Viator instructions for us to hunt for Kuxtal tour-guide Edwin were not at all clear, we did carry a small "Kuxtal" sign and miraculously found him patiently waiting for us across the street outside the ship terminal in front of the Royal Village. From that point-onwards, the tour was great! In the short time we had to explore Cozumel, Edwin took us to nearly all places we asked to see we knew other cruise-tours did not offer (and we've been on a lot of cruise tours on Cozumel). We were looking for something different we hadn't seen before in our seven previous trips to the island: The Echo Park on the north side of the island with entry into a museum under the beautiful lighthouse; several gorgeous wave-crashing popular beaches; beaches with blow holes; colorful "Coconuts" Bar situated on a rock out-cropping high on the beach, surrounded by bright green trees and foliage. We wanted to see the picturesque directional signs pointing to Cuba, Australia, etc. inside the Echo Park which is the farthest east into the Caribbean Sea Mexico extends to. Each pointed sign was annotated with the mileage (KM) to get to each country. We walked the picturesque beaches among the washed-ashore piles of multi-colored patterns on ancient-beached dead brain coral. We even saw "Naked Beach" bar, but no one was on the beach [probably inside the bar drinking beer]. We even visited a tequila factory downtown, educated by a knowledgeable Sergio and served mango-flavored tequila, coffee-flavored tequila (my favorite), all the way up to smooth 20-year tequila samples. At lunchtime we attended a restaurant on the eastern side of the island and was served delicious tacos with taste-bud opening hot sauces. Tour guide Edwin educated us on the history of the island before and after the Spanish arrived in the 1400s, explored in 1518 by merciful Juan de Grijalva, taken as a slave by the Mayans who later decided to stay on Cozumel rather than return to Spain when offered the opportunity. We ran out of time as our ship was scheduled to leave an hour earlier than previously advertised, but we saw 85 percent of what we had hoped...now to be saved for our next trip to Cozumel! If a Kuxtal tour is selected, we'd recommend Edwin as your tour guide as he was very knowledgeable and ultra-helpful, an extra plus for tour guides.

My family of 4 took the private jeep tour this week with Landy Diana. She was wonderful and we truly enjoyed the day with her. She took us all over the Island, was so nice and knowledgeable. I highly recommend!

Our driver Kevin was very friendly. The trip was wonderful. He did not rush us. It was a very relaxing experience. We got to see the other side of the island. We stopped at Coconut's, Welcome to Miami ( to try the best Mojito ever) and Parque Punta Sur. We seen wildlife along the way. Next time I am in Cozumel I will take this tour or another tour with Kevin again. I recommend him to anyone that would like to see the island

There were 6 of us on this tour! Kevin and his wife l, Landy, are awesome guides and now our friends. We rented 2 Jeep’s with them. They took us all around the island. Whatever we wanted to do we did. Have already recommended them and will continue to do so. Next trip to Cozumel…will be calling them Again

I went to Cozumel for my first baecation with my boyfriend during the last week of 2021. Our tour with Kevin was THE BEST PART. He was funny and very personable! It felt like he was our friend. He was very knowledgeable about the many spots he took us to and made it an overall positive experience. We were sad when it was over! Also… his margaritas were the best! I would recommend his tour for anyone who wants to see all of what the island has to offer outside of the resorts! And you MUST pick the jeep with the open top…. It’s only right.

This is the second time we have done this tour with Kevin. He allowed us to customize some of our stops and is willing to go over and beyond to make this experience everything you want it to be. We stopped at all the well-known places, which were awesome, but when he took us to some of the local spots was amazing! I cannot say enough things about Kevin, his wife, and the others that helped us on this tour. We had a group of 12 ranging from age 13 and up, and everyone found something that they enjoyed. If you go on a jeep tour with anyone else he will be missing out. Can’t wait to see them again next year!

My buddy and I booked a trip this last August to Cozumel mainly for scuba diving. On one of our days off from diving we were told about an awesome tour that we should look into with Island Tour Kuxtal. We booked a day trip with them and had the best time ever!!! Long story short the morning of our trip we were picked up by Kevin and we jumped into a Jeep for our epic day, right away we could tell we were safe and in for a lot of fun!!! Kevin took us EVERYWHERE!!! We were able to see things that we would have never been able to see had we not signed up for this. We saw the beautiful North Beach, visited an agave ranch, had some epic food with plenty of cool drinks and so much more!!! My friend and I also really wanted to understand not only the history but the life on Cozumel and Kevin was full of so much great info, we felt like we fit right in and truly understood our surroundings. The locals that Kevin introduced us too were amazing and so willing to talk about anything. Kevin started as our tour guide but I can honestly say ended as a friend!!! This experience can’t be replicated nor beat. If you come to Cozumel I highly suggest this tour!!!

My grandson, Ayden, age 9, and I had the most wonderful excursion with an exceptional guide named Kevin Carrillo. Kevin picked us up at our hotel in a red buggy. My grandson was thrilled. Kevin made Ayden, “The Boss” almost immediately. We toured a Tequila making, and sampling place, scenic sites along with its history, a cenote that has a place to jump in from the top of it to the bottom. Ayden jumped 4 times and loved it! Grandmother stayed at the bottom and cheered him on. Kevin took it upon himself to video all of Ayden’s jumps and one in slow-motion. They were fantastic and then he sent them to my phone. Unbelievable Customer Service. We visited several souvenir places. Kevin would have stopped anywhere we had wanted to visit or tour all we had to do was ask. I felt so comfortable with Kevin. He was very attentive and extremely kind and helpful. We also had a wonderful lunch of our choosing. I highly recommend Kevin and his Exceptional Customer Service.

Kevin was the Best tour guide we have ever encountered. From beginning to the end we were pleased with how safe we felt and was very informative. We felt like we knew him for a long time. Good experience with these guys. the service is personalized and you can customize the tour at you own convenience. English skills are not the greatest but they tried their best. Good activity after all.

A group of 6 of us traveled to Cozumel and we booked a jeep tour that turned into a fantastic day!!!

My girlfriend and I traveled to Cozumel in March 2021 with a large group of friends. For us, it was our first trip out of the country. From the first hello to the goodbye, there hospitality was top notch!! They were kind, funny, and friendly. They treat you like family! We are talking about planning another trip back next year and we hope to seeing Kevin and Landi. Thank you for such an amazing experience. We will be seeing you soon. I would definitely recommend them. They will give you the experience you're looking for.

We booked this tour through our hotel and they accommodated our group of 12. Kevin and Landy are amazing tour guides and will adjust the tour depending on what you want to see. They shared unique experiences with us that I don't think we would have found on our own (The hand made tortillas with pepita was amazing). Our group wanted to stop at the beach on the Eastern side of the island and they happily obliged. We even asked to see a local bar (instead of the tourist locations) and they took us to a great spot where we tried more local food. All in all this tour was the highlight of our stay we had so much fun laughing and joking with them as they showed us around. If you want to be shown around with people who will treat you like their best friend this is the tour.

Thank you so much for the tour of the island. 3 jeeps and 12 people are not easy to keep together and entertain. You beyond succeeded!!! We learned about the history and a lot about the present way of living. We saw sights we would have never seen if it weren't for you. We laughed more than we thought possible and made new friends. It was a full day and we can't thank you enough for spending your day entertaining this rowdy group from Wisconsin!

This tour was amazing I am so glad we decided to go. Kevin was our driver and guide and he was absolutely the best! He took us anywhere we wanted to go and showed us so many parts of Cozumel we had not seen even though we’ve been here many times. He even took us to a local bar where we enjoyed ourselves very much. We also went and enjoyed traditional Mexican food made right in front of our eyes. Best time ever

Kevin and Landy are the most amazing tour guides! We were so lucky to have met them last year for an island tour and we requested them again for our visit last week. They are so information, friendly, fun and such great people. Coming back in July with our adult children and will definitely request Kevin and Landy again to show our children this beautiful island.

All I can say is wow! Ask for Kevin or Landy. We felt like family the entire trip . Beautiful places we stopped at and fabulous food for lunch. We took this jeep excursion in Cozumel in February, 2020. There were 4 adults and we thoroughly enjoyed the attentiveness we received from Kevin, great conversation and felt we were very well looked after. He is a master at his job and we would not hesitate to recommend this excursion to anyone in the future. He left it to us to do what we wanted and see what we wanted but of course had great suggestions. As a pro we left it to him to make our excursion memorable and that he did. Please consider this excursion on your next trip to Mexico. Incidentally we were staying in Playa del Carmen and took the ferry over. Remember ask for Kevin to be your guide.

Kevin was fantastic. He called us to help guide us from cruise terminal to meet him. He asked what we did/did not want to do. He took us to beautiful sites and allowed us to determine how long we wanted to stay. He also took us to several pharmacies so we could get nausea meds (unfortunately no one sells the patch there). This was the best day of our whole vacation. Note: I tried sending an email the morning we arrived but apparently it didn't go through for a couple of days and Kevin called when he got that email to make sure we were ok! Love his concern.

We had a great tour. Kevin was great with communication. He promptly met us outside of the cruise terminal. He was very helpful with my 77 year old Mom. Making sure she was okay, helping her in and out of the Jeep and holding her hand. Very knowledgeable about Cozumel. Gave us history along the way. Took us to a great place For lunch. I would highly recommend Kevin. We booked outside of the cruise line in order to save a few dollars and we were not disappointed. 😊
