Half Day Private Fishing Charter In Cozumel

Thursday 09 April 2025 Good experience. Booked excursion through Trip Advisor. Locally= Adventure Planet Cozumel/Beach Bum. Contact name =Griselda. Very nice, large comfortable boat called Acquisition. Well stocked, extremely friendly crew. Captain Tony and mate Manuel were knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Their English was good. We did 1/3 ‘deep sea’ trolling (caught nothing), 1/3 ‘reef’ bottom fishing (caught 5 yellow fin snapper, they were delicious), and 1/3 snorkeling. Fun! We did a half day boat from Caleta marina and we were there before 8am, our scheduled time. The only issue was- we were not provided the name of the boat ahead of time. We were given the excursion provider name of Adventure Planet Cozumel/Beach Bum @Caleta marina as the meeting point. This did not end up enough. The marina was gated and the ‘guard’ had never heard of Adventure Planet Cozumel or Beach Bum Cozumel. We weren’t given a local phone number for the boat crew in advance. My phone reception @Caleta was spotty. It was difficult to connect with the proper boat/staff. We lost some time for our excursion trying to find the proper place (boat’) to catch. Again, once we connected, it was great. Would be 5stars, but I have to take one star away for the excursion not providing enough info for us to connect efficiently. So 4 stars. I ended up having my taxi drive around the marina just looking/asking for my excursion. Eventually, after some stress at not finding where I needed to be, I did encounter Griselda. The gate guard had a clipboard but my name was not on his ‘list’ for that day. That could have been helpful. My advice- if you use this excursion, get the name of the boat in Advance (there are 100+ boats in the marina. The locals know the names of the boats). And get the phone number of the boat crew, to facilitate easier initial connecting

Crew was great. Rough day at sea but still had fun. Caught a couple of fish on small black fin tuna and a good size mahi mani. Overall great experience

The guides waited on us for a late arrival due to a forced yet unforeseen stay in Cancun the night before from a very tardy tourbus so it was much appreciated. However, we had very little communication from the captain or his assistant and they did little to try and catch more fish than just troll. I would not recommend this fishing trip in June or July. Maybe the fishing is better in the spring but these guys could have cared less. Not worth it!

We got ZERO notification prior to our arriving that the fishing trip had been cancelled. When we mentioned the name of the charter the LOCAL guys on the dock laughed. This company lost their own vessel and now sub out fishing charters. They have little control of if people will actually get a trip or not. Well.. we didn’t with them. Being on a cruise boat we had little time to find another charter but thankfully a guy who told us about all this took us out for four hours at a CHEAPER rate (again, these guys are middle men so they add a cut). Viator needs to cut ties with this Beach Bum company Immediately or lose credibility. I demand a refund.

This was a disappointing outing...we caught no fish...and while that would have been fine...it was really kind of boring...the guides did not speak English very well at all so it was just us sitting on a boat. One of the guides did make us delicious guacamole.

Jesus and Charlie were amazing. They catered to our groups needs. We went to a private beautiful beach and snorkeled a wonderful reef! Highly recommend!!!

When booking the boat, we were planning some stops at beaches and the Palance beach club. It might have been better if the south beaches weren't closed due to high winds. I gave a 3 star review as I didn't feel the booking agency communicated our plans for the day and the crew and boat didn't seem willing to take us to the north side of the island where it was protected from the winds. We decided to fish for a couple hours, then tried stopping at a beach club that was too busy. After 1 stop for snorkeling, we decided to use the rest of the day for fishing and dropped off everyone not interested in fishing at the money Bar. We did catch a couple Mahi Mahi which was fun but only 3 out of 6 in our group was interested in fishing.

I can only say wonderful things about this company! The booking process was easy. We were running almost half an hour late (ferry issues) and they not only waited for us, but they also made sure to give us our full 4hours, which we did not expect at all. They were so friendly and kind, allowing us to fish and snorkel as we wished! Lastly they made us fresh pico de gallo, guacamole, and fruit! I highly recommend them, they were truly fantastic!

Excellent way to spend a day! We did the half day boat charter with two tank dive option. The dive master was excellent and all equipment was in excellent shape. The boat was very clean and tidy. The captain drove the boat nicely- we napped on way back, it was so relaxing! I highly recommend doing this charter instead of the mass-packed boats. Everything was on time and it’s an easy 5$ cab ride from ferry. Highly recommend!

It was basically an expensive boat ride. Met us late, returned us early. The first mate put four lines in the water, we traveled 2 hours South in the boat then turned around and traveled back. I would of thought “deep sea fishing” would of meant I would of at least cast a line and held a pole in attempt to catch a fish. We “caught” one fish as we towed the line. Did provide fresh pineapple and watermelon to snack. Would not recommend this trip.

Today we went out snorkeling with Luiz and Freddy from Beach Bum Cozumel. We had an awesome time and saw some amazing things. My favorite was the field of star fish. Amazing to see so many scattered along the ocean floor. Also the sting rays and El Cielo were super awesome and would swim super close. Luiz and Freddy were amazing. After we were done they made fresh guacamole and pico de Gallo. It was the best guacamole and pico that we have had during our week trip in Mexico. I will see if I can upload pics soon, but would recommend this to anybody looking to see some beautiful sights and great service 5 stars for sure.

Great scuba experience! First of all, they answer calls quickly, and emails also, unlike other companies. They scheduled transportation for us from our hotel for an additional cost (we are in Cancun) and had their crew await us on the cozumel side of the ferry station. Guacamole and chips, drinks and fruit was included on the trip making everything very enjoyable. Dive master was phenomenal , helping our least experienced divers enjoy the dive. Highly recommendable.

We had the most amazing experience thanks to beach bum! When we arrived on the boat they were very prepared with all of the dive equipment, wet suit, and fins. They also had food and drinks for everyone! With this being my first ocean dive I was nervous. Our dive master Tony was amazing! He took the time to talk through everything with me and took me down by myself to help me get comfortable! We did two 45-60 minute dives and Tony was sure to point out eels, crabs, and rays so that everyone could take pictures and enjoy! A few people in our group wanted to snorkel and the crew members that went with them were wonderful! During our break between dives they served us amazing freshly made guacamole and fruit! They have really thought of everything! AMAZING EXPERIENCE!! I definitely recommend going!

The Beach Bum diving experience was one I’ll never forget. The entire crew was kind, spoke very good English and all wanted us to have a good time. They were very prepared with all of the our equipment; fins BCDs, mask if you needed them, wetsuits etc. We did a two tank dive. Tony was awesome and showed a lot patience for newer divers. we were fortunate to see crabs, lobsters, turtles and even an eagle ray. The crew had awesome guacamole and fruit in between diver with plenty of water and soda. Great experience all around

We visited Cozumel as a cruise stop, and after several days of ship excursions that were overpriced and terribly underwhelming, we wanted a private experience without the risk of 50 people's fins smacking us in the face. We booked this excursion last minute, and were so happy that we did. The Beach Bums team communicated promptly with us about our scheduling challenges, shared great directions, and were so friendly and professional when we arrived. The captain and his first mate (Toby and Patricio) were fantastic, attentive to our interests and skill levels, and took us to 3 different and incredible snorkel sites. The cooler was full of water and soft drinks, Patricio made the best pico de gallo and guacamole for us, and we had such a fantastic day. It was worth every penny, and we were so grateful to have a big boat all alone for our group of 4. We loved our experience in Cozumel so much thanks to the Beach Bums team and this excursion. We highly recommend them, and know that when we go back, we'll be booking this experience again!

Just got off and had a good time! Husband went snorkeling and loved it. Kids and I stayed on boat but loved the beautiful blue water, coral and fish- we could see everything. Fishing was disappointing. My kids enjoy fishing and it’s not the typical “fishing” we are use to - there was no control and not mich to do- which I loved but the kids love the thrill of “doing it.” Guacamole was awesome. Drinks were ok- bring your own as no beer and little variety.

We really enjoyed ourselves with the crew and had great service on our private boat. This company is under new management and the general manager came to greet us at the Marina, offered us additional drinks and made sure we had been well taken care of. Will definitely be recommending them.

This is way better than buying large group tours that are often offered. I have small children who love the water, told the capitán about it and the rest is history! He took us to the Cielo, beautiful beach área that was amazing for our children. We asked to be taken around the island, dropped off at snorkeling locations, and everything was perfect. Would definitely do it again!

We rented a boat with guide to take us snorkeling and fishing for the day. The snorkeling was good, We went to two reefs and the assistant got in to swim with us and make sure we didn’t get lost, which was great. He was really great, and I wish I knew his name. He made lunch, which was really good actually - fresh guacamole and pico were awesome on the boat. The only issue that kinda left us sour was fishing. We decided to spend the last 90 min of the trip fishing, and caught a huge Mahi. However the captain told us “that’s my dinner” and let us take pics of the fish but didn’t allow us to keep it. We didn’t argue at the time, thinking maybe there was a rule or something. But others who have done this said they were allowed to keep their catch...so we felt pretty ripped off. I would not have spent the time fishing if it was just to give it away. We spent a lot of money on this trip, not sure it was worth it.

Cozumel has much more Healthy reefs vs Nassau where we usually go ;We snorkled three different ones over the 4 hour tour, Best one was "sky Reef". shallow and full of Angle fish esp Rock Beauties I have not seen in Bahamas for years Boat and crew were perfect and since we were six so I booked it as private and we could get silly and have even more fun. Great value vs a boat in Nassau which would cost three times more and see three times less.. If you like to reef snorkle you have to go one day to Cozumel. We saw three turtles on the drop off reef including a rare hawksbill beautiful shell as it came up for air right beside us.

We wanted to give our kids an experience they would never forget while in Cozumel and taking them out snorkeling on a private boat charter with Beach Bum was it!! They absolutely loved it. Everything about the trip was top notch. They picked us up on time at the pier closest to us. The boat was well maintained and well suited for the trip. The crew was knowledgeable and friendly and made the BEST guacamole we had all week right there on the boat. They took us on a nice relaxing and well paced trip. First to the Columbia Shallows for our first snorkel adventure. The boat stayed right with us and Lupe was out in the water with us the whole time. My kids had never snorkeled before, but they all quickly got comfortable with it with this crew. Then to the starfish beds. Then to Ciello where we swam and relaxed and had snacks. Then for our final snorkel adventure over the Palancar deeper reefs. Now that was incredible! We saw underwater caves and a gigantic turtle. My family is hooked. I'm sure we will be back.

The crew on this boat goes the extra mile to help you with your gear. The dive master Miguel took us on the adventure of a lifetime! You can not go wrong with this charter.

We had a fantastic day aboard the Victoria last week, Captain Nestor & 1st mate Lupe were the best, we got lucky and caught a white Marlin & a bunch of Mahi Mahi... the snorkeling was great also,- so was the fresh Guacamole & pico & fruit!! great touch! - the best value there is- you can't go wrong- Thanks guys! Four of us chartered the Victoria for the afternoon to snorkel in the beautiful waters around Cozumel. We had a wonderful time and were treated like royalty by the Victoria Staff! Four snorkel spots! Amazing sites! We will be back! Thank you!

Amazing value for a private boat tour, 2 divers and 2 snorkelers. Nothing like having the whole boat to ourselves and all the personal attention! Went straight to amazing private spots. Definitely the way to go.

What a great time! We did two tank dives plus the other part of our party was able to snorkel. Make sure you get ahold of them prior so they know what you want to do (dive, fish, snorkel).
