I highly recommend this tour! And will to all I know who are going to Eliu our guide was amazing! So knowledgeable and helpful. And we had two other guides — Angel at the Mayan Cacao Company gave a great demonstration of making the chocolate and at the alebrije painting was another Angel and was also very helpful and patient with me. It was a great day!

It was a lot of fun! Eliu was a great guide and knowledgeable. Just make sure you verify the directions. We used link on viator for directions and it took us to wrong place- completely opposite direction and so we had to pay a taxi to get us there in time since we walked.

We had a fantastic time!!! Roberto was a wonderful guide, sharing history about the art community here in Cozumel and across Mexico. The Barriecito is an amazing facility and well worth the trip. There is so much to do, see, and learn jam packed into this single location.

Absolutely incredible tour!

I came here with my family as we wanted to do something different to just going to the beach. We had a wonderful experience. It’s a fun, relaxing and educational trip. We all got to pick the item we wanted to paint and the colors we wanted to use. It’s a no pressure and fun experience. You don’t have to be a good painter and you get to keep your painted creation at the end of the visit. I would highly recommend this workshop

I came as part of a cruise excursion as I am disabled and still wanted something interesting to do. I highly recommend! Our guide was Adrianna and she had a real passion for the history and story of alebrije. I saw some reviews where people were rude about the used paint brushes or sticks or lack of choices etc. I didn't experience any of those issues. Yes the paint brushes etc have been used before but you shouldn't expect everything to be brand new every time, that is wasteful. Everything was clean, we were inside with A/C and had a wide selection available.

We booked this as a shore event on our cruise and I’m so glad we did! We really enjoyed learning about Alebrijes and then getting to paint our own to keep! The grounds are really nice and the painting studio is air conditioned. Also the guides were really great!

We decided to go rogue and book a non Disney excursion. I liked how they had a 24 hour cancellation policy which is more lenient than Disney. Communication through the app and WhatsApp was amazing and very responsive and they helped us book a time that accommodated our port times and location. Sadly someone on our ship had a medical emergency and instead of heading to Cozumel a planned we were diverted toward the keys. After the emergency was taken care of we arrived at Cozumel in the late afternoon instead of the AM. We had been SO excited to take this class as a family but weren’t able to make it due to the change in cruise course. It was less than 24 hours and I was worried I’d lose my money. They were so understanding of the situation and refunded our money. Definitely recommend!! If we ever have the opportunity to book with them again we will!!

What a fun, peaceful and educational experience! The guides are experts, personal, and helpful. I recommend this experience to anyone who wants a chilled and relaxing experience on their vacation.

It was a fun activity to do with my 18 year old daughter. It was very informative and informational about Alebrije artwork. I would encourage to do it if you like craft like activities.

Xiomara was an amazing host and the whole excursion was a great experience. Two adults and three kids all had a great time. Very safe and easy. I just wish we’d had more time.

Xiomara, our guide, was fabulous and explained the history of Alebrije very well! The Barrio was very cute as well. Bring your own water bottle.

Meet at the place at 9:00am and sat around waiting for the cruise people to arrive. Finally meet instructor around 10:00am. He explained a little about painting the figures. Then were given about a hour to paint. The choice of figures was slim. Either cats or dogs, not much else. Finished our figures, but some would have liked more time. Then they lead us over to the courtyard where you could shop at their store, have a beer and taco. This was all extra and each person asked for a tip. We did enjoy the tour but the price was not worth it. Maybe 50.00USD PP., not the 113.00USD they ask. So we came home with small figue in a bag and nothing else. Oh, and entrance fee, for what!

We absolutely LOVED our experience painting Alebrijes. Eric was a terrific and engaging instructor and educator. He taught us all about the history of the Alebrijes. When it came time to paint them he let us free to do whatever we felt called to do by our Alebrije. He did give me a couple tips of how to make my colors pop- and he was exactly right! The Barriecito is an incredibly cool facility too, and next time we're in town I can't wait to look at more of their options.
