Cozumel: Private Excursion - Minivan Or Jeep (Your Day, Your Way)

This was truly a perfect experience from beginning to end, and I couldn’t recommend it more! Shortly after I made my booking, the team created a group chat to help coordinate everything. I apologize for having so many questions and needing to adjust the starting time, but they were incredibly responsive, patient, and helpful throughout the entire process. They not only answered all my questions promptly but also suggested an even better starting time for our trip. Everything went so smoothly! The instructions regarding the itinerary and meeting point were also very clear and detailed, so we knew exactly what to expect. When we arrived at the meeting point, Ricky was already there waiting for us. Ricky was absolutely fantastic! He was professional, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable. During the drive, he shared so much interesting information about Cozumel, from the island’s size and local industries to the wildlife and how different animals live here. His explanations were both informative and entertaining, and even though it was our first time visiting Cozumel, we felt like we had already learned so much about the island. He was also very thoughtful and attentive. He asked if we needed to stop at a convenience store to get some mosquito repellent, recommended great photo spots along the way, and always made sure we were comfortable. The Jeep itself was very comfortable, with great air conditioning, which made the ride even more enjoyable. The itinerary was wonderfully organized. We had plenty of time to enjoy each stop without ever feeling rushed, while the overall schedule remained smooth and well-paced. Honestly, everything exceeded our expectations, from the booking arrangements and communication to the tour itself. A huge thank-you to the team and especially Ricky for making our first visit to Cozumel so memorable. I would absolutely recommend this experience to anyone visiting the island!

An Amazing and Personalized Experience in Cozumel with Aldair! Our guide, Aldair, made us feel like we were exploring the island with a family member rather than a tour guide! Communication was excellent from the beginning, and the pickup location was convenient and easy to find. Aldair was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and welcoming throughout the entire experience. What made this excursion so special was the personalized tour, away from the large crowds, allowing us to experience Cozumel from a local's perspective. He even took us to local stores where we could purchase beer at local prices instead of paying tourist prices! The entire experience was relaxed, genuine, and authentic. We loved having the freedom to explore the island without the hustle and bustle of a typical group excursion. We truly enjoyed every moment and highly recommend Aldair to anyone wanting a more personal and memorable experience in Cozumel!

This is a great way to explore a destination, particularly if you don't know what you want to do. Our guide, Aldair spent about 15 minutes asking us about what we liked and didn't like. Then he created an itinerary that was seamless! He was very knowledgeable and patient. I would highly recommend Viator.

Had a great time. Enrique was the best tour guide, very informative and passionate about the area. Was able to tailor our experience on the fly. Viewed local statues, artwork, honey farm, family owned chocolate making businesses and the best restaurant with excellent authentic seafood cuisine. Would definitely recommend this type of experience for people wanting a more personalized trip away from the cruise tours.

As a family of six, we were excited for the "Your Day, Your Way" tour, but unfortunately, it fell a bit flat for us. The tour started more than 15 minutes late, which wasn't the best first impression. We were also surprised to find that our guide arrived in a marked taxi rather than the minivan or jeep-style vehicle we had expected. With six people, the ride felt quite cramped and impacted the overall comfort of the experience. That said, our guide, Gerardo, was kind, professional, and genuinely made every effort to ensure we had a good time. He deserves credit for his positive attitude and willingness to accommodate our family throughout the day. For us, the bigger challenge was Cozumel itself. From our perspective as a family traveling with children, there simply wasn't much that stood out. The beaches we visited were average, and there was a significant amount of sargassum present, which detracted from the experience. While the natural beauty of the island may appeal to some travelers, we found the attractions somewhat underwhelming compared to other Caribbean destinations we've visited. Overall, we'd give Gerardo an A for effort, but the tour and destination did not live up to our expectations. What we experienced didn't quite match the description we had envisioned, and as a result, it wasn't one of the highlights of our trip.

Enrique gave us a wonderful tour of the whole island and recommended an amazing Mayan cultural experience. His knowledge about the island, both the history and the current state, was impressive. Highly recommend him!

Irvin was excellent. A good driver knowing where to go and what to do. He took us to several places and set up private tours. He's the best.

We had the best day with our tour guide Irving! He was a wealth of knowledge of the island, culture, and people. He listened to our interests and curated a perfect experience. We floated through a cenote, drove to a remote beach, and enjoyed the best local food and drink (with bonus beach puppies!) Irving made the trip extra special just by being himself and sharing his world with us. We are grateful for the experience and would do it again in a heartbeat! Our tour with Visit Cozumel was the best! Our 9 ladies were treated to a customized day just for us. Our driver, Jesus, and tour guide, Aldair, took us to picture spots, Tierra Maya cultural center, KaoKao chocolate factory, shopping, and an amazing beachside restaurant. Some of us have been to Cozumel many times, but this was the very best tour!! Highly recommend!

We booked a private tour where we tried honey, made chocolate, tried tequila and other local liquors, made salsa and made tortillas. It was an AMAZING experience. Gabby and Roberto were so welcoming and not only explained everything clearly not answered all our questions patiently. Not only do I highly recommend but I am figuring out how I can come back to visit them again soon. Wonderful retreat for us on our cruise stop. Irving was out driver and was very friendly and accommodating.

Ricky, our driver was great. He met us with a sign so we knew he was looking for us. He asked what we wanted to do and tailored our tour to us.

Aldair was our guide and Jesus (Chewie) our driver. They gave clear directions for pick up and the minivan was perfect with cool bottled water whenever we wanted it. They talked us through the ticket process at the Mayan ruins and prepared us for the upsell. Then we went for the honey and cocoa experience which was great fun (and delicious). Due to inclement weather we didn’t stop on the wild east coast of the island but our guides kept us entertained with lots of interesting information about the island throughout the trip. I’d thoroughly recommend them.

Our driver Angelo was such a great tour guide and took us all around Cozumel showing us cenotes, beautiful beaches, great bars and even downtown. He made our day super special and he has such a great personality. Would love to use him again when coming back to Cozumel.

This private tour was a relaxing and easy way to tour Cozumel during our limited time on shore from our cruise ship. Our guide, Aldair, was on time, super friendly and very knowledgeable about the area. We discussed a plan prior to heading out and we enjoyed our time looking for adventure around the Island. We stopped at a local resort and enjoyed the beach, Taquella tasting, and the wildlife. We visited a couple of local markets and enjoyed interacting with vendors to get good deals and support the local economy. We would recommend this excursion to those looking to make their own memorable day in Cozumel.

Gerardo was engaging, knowledgeable and passionate about the island. We loved all of our stops and appreciated the customization. I would definitely recommend!! Be mindful that the vehicle is small although it holds 6. If you have taller passengers, you may want to communicate with them, they are very responsive.

What a wonderful day! Enrique was a fantastic guide and curated our day around our desires. We did not want to go to the beach or tourist stops so we drove the whole island, learned about the culture and did a wonderful Chocolate and Honey experience with Terrra Maya. That experience was a highlight that he coordinated for us. Lunch was a local place that we went to with him. I highly recommend this company. Car was very clean and the whole company is very professional and good with communication. Would definitely use on our next trip to Cozumel!

Enrique was a phenomenal tour guide. We opted to cruise the island and learn some of the history and geography of the area. Enrique, being from Cozumel, was a wealth of knowledge and made the trip a lot of fun. We stopped at Tierra Maya to learn and experience local honey, chocolate, salsa, and of course tequila. Tierra Maya is a newer tour excursion, but they are locally owned and operated which made it enjoyable to visit. Enrique was extremely flexible, stopping for some lunch off the southern coast when we asked and had great recommendations. I definitely want to return to Cozumel and stay for an extended stay. Such a laid back, relaxing vibe. And people like Enrique make it worth returning to. 10/10 would recommend this tour to others.

Irving gave us a great tour of the island and shared some history and some mythology! We got to see a cenote, a crocodile, and a coati. We enjoyed getting to know a bit more about Cozumel. It was just what we asked for. We loved that we could design our own adventure. Whatever we wanted to see, he was willing to oblige.

After reading the many positive reviews, we decided to book a private Jeep excursion with Visit Cozumel during our cruise stop instead of choosing one of the much more expensive excursions offered by the cruise line. It turned out to be a decision we did not regret for a single moment. From the beginning, Mario and Gilberto were extremely responsive. During the booking process, they provided clear information and quickly answered all my questions. Before the excursion, we received detailed meeting instructions and contact information, which gave us a lot of confidence that everything was well organized. On the day of the excursion, our guide Ricky was waiting for us, and we immediately felt comfortable with him. Because we wanted to visit Mayan ruins, taste local food and drinks, and explore the island, Ricky created an itinerary that perfectly matched our interests. He took us to the San Gervasio Mayan ruins, stopped for chocolate and tequila tastings, and brought us to a small local restaurant where we enjoyed some of the best nachos and tacos we have ever tasted. Along the way, we also stopped at several beautiful places by the roadside to take photos and enjoy the amazing views. We especially appreciated Ricky’s transparency about the admission fees we would have to pay at the different stops. There were no surprises, and we always knew exactly what to expect. Ricky was friendly, flexible, knowledgeable, and made sure that we returned to the cruise ship comfortably and on time. We were very happy with our private Jeep excursion and would definitely recommend Visit Cozumel and Ricky to anyone looking for a personal and enjoyable way to discover the island. We had an excellent time on our private jeep excursion. Our driver was able to suggest and bring us to some great places as well as tell us a lot about local life on the island. We loved not having to wait for large group of people to finish each stop. We were able to move on as soon as we were finished so therefore able to do and see so much more. Our excursion with this company was absolutely amazing!! It was super easy to book and they remained in contact with us up until the day of the excursion, so we would know what to expect. Our family of 12 fit very comfortably in our van with A/C. Our guide knew what we would like to do, even when we didn't quite know what we wanted to do. Lol Ozzy and Chewy were absolutely amazing and took great care of us the entire time. Also, they were very knowledgeable about everything. I definitely would recommend booking this excursion and avoid cruise lines over priced excursions, then you get a little bit of everything.

Wow!! From days before the tour to the very last second, this was a wonderful experience. Our original plans cancelled on us about 24 hours before we started our vacation. So we booked this tour and I am so glad we did :-) We had an absolutely incredible experience on our Jeep tour in Cozumel! From start to finish, it was a highlight of our cruise. Our guide, Aldiar, was simply outstanding. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the island’s history, culture, and hidden gems, and you could tell he genuinely loves sharing Cozumel with his guests. Instead of just taking us to the typical tourist stops, he showed us some amazing local spots that we never would have found on our own. One of our favorite moments was when he took us to a local convenience store so we could grab authentic snacks. It was such a thoughtful touch that made us feel like we were experiencing the island like locals rather than just tourists. Aldiar was friendly, professional, funny, and made sure everyone was comfortable and having a great time throughout the day. His recommendations were spot on, and his passion for Cozumel made the entire experience even more special. If you’re considering a Jeep tour in Cozumel, don’t hesitate—book it! Ricky and his driver do not disappoint! From the outset communication was seamless for pickup near the Disney Cruise Terminal. Recognizing the configuration of our travel party, Ricky quickly made suggestions for activities and sights that were accommodating. We ended with a local meal. This group is first class!

Jesus was so friendly. He gave us great information and history as we toured around. He gave us plenty of options for activities and even took photos that he shared with us. Excellent excursion.

We had an amazing day with our guide, Diego. He took us to some local spots, which is what we love on vacations. A local market, chocolate factory, and across the island for the most amazing mojito ever. We went to the ruins and also had an amazing lunch. He was so knowledgeable about the island. I cannot recommend this trip and especially Diego enough. We had an amazing day! I would 100% book this again!

Organized and timely communication. We loved our guide, Diego, who shared so much information about the island. Also had great recommendations of places to visit instead of the typical tourist-y destinations. We enjoyed the chocolate tasting at a family-owned chocolate factory, as well as the honey tasting at a bee sanctuary. These places were not on the shore excursions options from the cruise ship. We wouldnt have known about them without our guide. We truly enjoyed our final stop at the beach- considering there were 3 cruise ships on the island, our beach was not crowded at all! The food was delicious and staff were very friendly. Diego knew so many locals and was genuinely nice to everyone. We had plenty of time to get back on the ship. Highly recommend booking this private tour!

We had a wonderful tour guide, Aldair. He was knowledgeable and made the experience fun. One thing I wish would have known is that many area attractions were closed (on Sundays) WELL IN ADVANCE on the island so I could have switched my time/day on this experience with another that was less about businesses being open or locations. The business did let me know a day before but not enough time to reschedule what was already planned 24 hrs before. That said, it was a lovely time- an open air Jeep would have been neat too.

We came to Cozumel with a cruise ship and had a family of five who all had different things they wanted to do. Gerardo took the time to talk to us and make suggestions based on his knowledge of Cozumel. He was fantastic with history, including Mayan history, Spanish history, religious history and modern customs, as well as talking to the kids about the biology of the island. We learned so much from him! He also took us to the new Kanak Park to swim in a cenote. We had an absolutely wonderful time and a delicious meal to go with it. He got us back to the port with plenty of time to shop for souvenirs as well. Thank you, Gerardo! We will absolutely be visiting again soon!

We had a great day with Jhonny our tour guide with the Visit Cozumel Tours. We had a large van with our family of 6 which was comfortable. Chewy our driver was great too. We drove to a more secluded beach which was very scenic, then to the Tierra Maya experience, which was great, then to Chankanaab to snorkel. It was nice having a guide and a driver in a new country/area that we don’t know. Jhonny was very friendly, easy going, informative, and accommodating. We had a great first visit to Cozumel!

We did a build-your-own style tour with Diego and it was nothing short of superb. He was knowledgable, friendly and extremely accommodating. This is a great way to see the highlights (or more deep dive areas) in a short amount of time and we did it as a first day intro into the trip. I would highly recommend the Tierra Maya portion of any build your own itinerary as well for a cultural/interactive experience.

This was an amazing experience. We were able to see a few off the beaten path sites and enjoy the beach snorkeling as we learned about the history and culture of Cozumel from our local guide, Ricki angled our driver Jesus.

We had a wonderful day in Cozumel with our friendly and knowledgeable guide, Diego. As first time cruisers, we were a bit nervous about taking a tour on our own, rather than through our cruise line, but I’m so glad we did! We watched huge groups moving en mass from tour ships, while we got a personalized tour in a private air conditioned jeep. Diego shared so much information about the island’s history, culture, and natural resources. We enjoyed seeing parts of the island that are less touristy, visiting a local market, seeing an authentic chocolate making facility (not the commercial ones the cruise ships go to) and stopping at a neighborhood restaurant for amazing shrimp tacos. Highly recommended!
