Cozumel Private Bar Hopping Tour: Beach Bars & Local Cantinas

Sergio is a fantastic guide. We had so much fun at the tequila tasting and going to beach bars with a great views. Lunch was wonderful and they surprised us with a small anniversary cake.

Great Island Tour with Sergio — Amazing Spots, Minor Pickup Delay ★★★★☆ We booked a private island tour with Sergio, and overall it was a fantastic way to experience Cozumel beyond the typical tourist path. The only reason this isn't getting a full 5 stars is the pickup: our transportation arrived about 30 minutes late but we were made aware of this but we were told 10 minutes late they were running. Waiting around in the Caribbean heat for half an hour with little shade was definitely uncomfortable and got things off to a slow start. Once Sergio arrived, however, the day completely turned around. The private vehicle was comfortable, and having a cooler stocked with cold water and beers ready to go was an immediate relief. The itinerary itself was incredible: * The Tequila Ranch: Starting off at the family-owned ranch in the Mayan jungle was a blast. Learning about the distillation process and doing a proper tasting—learning how to smell and appreciate the different flavor profiles—made the experience feel authentic. Visiting the animals around the ranch afterward was a fun, charming bonus. * The "Other Side" & Welcome to Miami: Heading over to the rugged, wild side of Cozumel was breathtaking. Stopping near Chen Rio and hitting the Welcome to Miami mojito bar was an absolute highlight. Watching fresh fruit and herbs muddled right in front of us while relaxing under the palapa with feet in the sand and ocean breezes was pure vacation mode. * Local Cantina & Botanitas: Wrapping up the day eating and drinking like a local was easily the best part of the food experience. The traditional botanitas that came out with every round—ceviche, Poc Chuc, seafood soup, tacos, and spiced potatoes—were fresh, flavorful, and gave us a genuine taste of Yucatan bar culture. Sergio was a great host throughout the day, keeping the drinks flowing and sharing great local insight. Aside from the rough start waiting in the heat, it was a memorable, well-paced day. Would definitely recommend taking this tour!

My husband and my best friend and her husband all went on the Tequila and Taco Tour. Sergio was our tour guide and is truly a wonderful guide. He showed us the island and always made sure we felt safe and supported. He showed us all the local bars and customized the tour for our wants and desires. This is the perfect way to experience the island and get to know a local who will share the culture, history, and cuisine in the island.

If you are visiting Cozumel, you have to book this bar tour and absolutely request Sergio as your guide! He is a super fun, great guy, incredibly knowledgeable, and made us feel safe and part of the family the entire time. We basically drove all around the island, and he taught us everything we could ever want to know about the local culture and history. The stops were perfect. We started at an amazing local, hole-in-the-wall bar with zero tourists—just incredible vibes, cold beers, and Palomas. They brought out free ceviche and chicharrones, and honestly, it was the best I’ve ever had in my life. (In the States, people always overdo the ceviche, but this was authentic perfection.) Next, we drove over to the wild east side of the island to another local spot where they mix drinks with fresh fruit, and I had the absolute best frozen mango margarita of my life. We hit a few more fantastic spots before wrapping up at a fun beach club with great music, excellent cocktails, and delicious food. This wasn’t just a bar crawl; it was a phenomenal island experience. Do yourself a favor and book it—and don't forget to ask for Sergio!

Sergio was absolutely the best! He took us to incredible places around Cozumel that we never would have found on our own. From start to finish, he was the perfect host—knowledgeable, personable, and clearly passionate about the island. We traveled all around Cozumel, and Sergio seemed to know everything about every place we visited. He made the entire day feel effortless, special, and memorable. We could not have asked for a better guide, and we would recommend him without hesitation to anyone visiting Cozumel! He's been doing his job for 20 years and it shows!

Fernando was outstanding!! We didn’t know what to expect out of this trip, but we were blown away. He was more than kind right away and willing to be flexible. The driving was great and kept us safe the entire time. Even was willing to share his personal experiences after living on the island his entire life. We had a really good time on this Cozumel bar tour. It was a very chill experience and a nice way to explore the island. Yousef was a great guide, easygoing and made the whole day run smoothly. He also gave us tips on local pricing and how to shop so we got the best deals. We stopped at Tres Toños for a tequila tasting and tried a few different mojito spots. It was cool seeing how they make mojitos in a molcajete. We also went to Restaurant Bar El Mirador where we received the best service and the food was delicious.

We had a great day. The places we stopped at were very unique and the mojitos were the best we have ever had. Our driver was Sergio, he was fantastic. Highly recommend and ask Sergio to be your driver.

We had a great time with Sergio. We wanted to visit the East side of the island, and other less visited sights. There were six boats in Cozumel the day we were there, and we managed to avoid most of the crowds. Plenty to eat along with the drinks along the way.

Had an absolute blast on this tour! We really enjoyed getting to see the other side of the island and getting a little more authentic taste of Cozumel than we have in the past. Already recommended to other cruisers and friends. We will book again!

Great day with Sergio! We went to several off-the-beaten-path bars and restaurants and skipped all the “tourist traps.” Had time for a quick swim on the southeast side, plus a tequila tasting at a back-roads farm. Excellent day!

We had a good tour of Cozumel and went to some local areas and tourist spots. Loved the fresh drinks and enjoyed some wildlife along the way. Sergio our tour guide was great. He made sure we hit all spots we wanted to see.

Jeep riders was an amazing experience. Sergio was friendly and knowledgeable. He made the tour a blast. At the tequila tasting we were lucky enough to meet Gaspar. He has a deep love and knowledge of tequila. He alone was worth the trip. That's before we talk about the beautiful beaches, tasty tacos and great drinks at stunning locations. I would do this again.

Sergio was great , enjoyed the Tequila ranch , beach stop and all around a day to remember. Great food and drinks at a few stops Rastas was 1 of our stops as well. Ice cold beverages in the van as we traveled.

Highly recommend. Locals bring you to the best spots. Food and drinks were outstanding. Swimming spot was spectacular.
