This was a great experience. Much better than the large group tours! Diego and Luis were awesome. Major and family do a nice job.

Itinerary
This coral reef is in the Cozumel Marine park and streches for miles. Discover colorful corals, tropical fish and maybe a stingray or a turtle. We snorkel the Palancar reef as well as the more shallow Colombia reef
Enjoy the shallow waters and see the starfish that assemble in the sand. In Spanish, "EL CIELO" means "heaven". It is one of the most spectacular places in Cozumel if not in the whole Caribbean. After seeing the starfish, we move to the more shallow waters. Here we have snacks and fresh fruits, a beer or a soda. Stingrays circle around us, sure an unique experience.

Absolutely recommended! El Cielo is a must see during your stay in Cozumel
The El Cielo tour with Leon Tours was one of the best experiences I had on Cozumel. Everything was organized in a super relaxed way—a small group, no rush, and a really friendly guide—so I felt right at home. The snorkeling was amazing: crystal-clear water, rays, lots of fish, and the starfish at El Cielo are even more impressive in person. The group size was also perfect—small enough to enjoy everything at a leisurely pace, without any stress or crowding. If you’re in Cozumel and want to go on a high-quality, well-organized, and truly special tour, don’t hesitate. A little bonus: You can buy photos from the guide—they’re beautifully taken, but you have to pay for them separately from the tour. For me, it’s clear: worth every penny, and I’d do it again in a heartbeat.
We booked a boat with a dozen family members and did El Cielo with snorkeling. It was pretty cool overall but my kids and I all had a really hard time getting their equipment to work and the mask kept letting water in. We did a different snorkeling excursion a couple days later and the equipment was much better with a different operator and we were all able to enjoy the masks. One thing I was surprised by was the pictures situation. They said in the beginning that they would take some pictures for us and we could work something out later if we liked them, but then they wanted $60 for the photos they took. I thought after dropping $600+ that this was a little greedy, especially when there were really just 2-3 we wanted. They went down to $30 cash or $40 card but by that point we had soured on the experience due to having to end the excursion with an unforseen negotiation. However when it became clear we weren't interested enough to pay their prices and had had enough of their negotiations, they got desperate and chased after us for whatever they could get. When they offered for $5 we finally accepted but at that point it had gotten obnoxious. Anyway, don't be fooled into overpaying for their pictures. And if you don't want surprises, negotiate them upfront. But it's unfortunate that a seemingly reputable tour operator would incorporate this sort of "let's figure out the price" tactic instead of being transparent.
We booked a private tour. Our guide Lalo and our captain Pablo were so great! Lalo made sure we stayed ahead of the crowds and Pablo made us an amazing lunch of fresh ceviche, guacamole and fresh fruit. Lalo got some great photos and we saw so many beautiful fish, multiple sea turtles, lots of sting rays, sea stars and even a shark and enjoyed our time so much. They provided the snorkeling gear too. The best thing for me was the time we had in El Cielito ahead of the crowds. Lifetime memories for our family. Thank you for an amazing experience and sharing this beautiful place with us.
We had a wonderful experience on this tour. The boat ride was about 25 minutes to the reef where we saw many fish, including rats and small sharks. The lunch in El Cielo was thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing as well. While we were standing, numerous rays swam by. It was a beautiful scene and the highlight of our time in Cozumel.
We booked this for the second year in a row for 50,60 and 70 year olds all in decent shape. Lalo and Alejandro took great care of us. We saw morays, nurse sharks, stingrays, turtles and even a hammerhead. We finished with a great feast of Excellent ceviche and guacamole with plenty of cold cervesas served in the ocean by, with all the other tours … one big beach party. Easy going fun guys and family friendly
So glad we booked this separately from our cruise offerings. We booked direct with Viator to have a private boat. The cost was great and the time with family and on the reefs was uninterrupted by throngs of cruisers. Great tour, great lunch, so nice to have this as a private family tour. The captain was great and the snorkel guide and deck hand was English speaking, friendly, and put us on great reefs.
This was one of the funnest adventures we’ve had on our travels! The crew was super friendly and made our day at sea unforgettable.
An incredible trip for our family of six. Boat captain and guide were excellent. Captured some amazing pictures of starfish, turtles, and stingrays.
We had a really nice trip with Gustavo and Allen at Leon Tours They were genuinely friendly from the start. They let us choose the pace of our trip. How much snorkeling vs how much chilling. Toward the end of the trip we got hit with a pop up rain shower. They took us down the coast a few miles and got us back into the sun. Then we ENJOYED the beer, ceviche and guacamole. Allen crushed the snacks!!! They were really good and we just enjoyed them, in the shallow water. We saw rays, lobster, barracuda and a nurse shark. We were a mixed group from 18 to 72 years old and it was a perfect afternoon 😁
Captain Allan was a great boat captain. Gustavo was a really good guide. Loved all the fish. Our lunch was a special experience!
Great amount of sea life - it was a very special trip! The service was exceptional Loved being at the sand bar with the sting rays!!
The crew was wonderful and very kind to my son, who was nervous swimming in deeper ocean than he ever had before. We loved seeing the stingrays at El Cielito.
Crew Gustavo and Tony were fun, funny! Great guacamole/chips and fruit. We had a wonderful time. Would recommend.
So this is my third or fourth tour with Leon Tours, and as usual it was beyond fantastic. I've been to Cozumel many, many times, and this tour company is excellent. This tour took us on a private boat out to an area of beach where the water is crystal clear and only about 1-2 feet deep. There was only my party of five on the boat. Swimming around us were tropical fish and stingrays. (They said we could have gone to a private beach with no other people around, but this area was beautiful and not crowded at all.) The boat crew brought beverages and also made fresh fruit, guac and ceviche right on the boat. And to be honest, after spending the previous week in Cancun and Cozumel, this guac was the best we had the entire time. At the time of our choosing, we were taken to a starfish snorkel area. Then we went to a sea turtle snorkel area. We saw at least ten very large turtles. The area we departed was basically right next to the cruise port. Absolutely great day and decent price.
This was by far the best thing we did in the Riviera Maya. The crew is all so helpful and experienced. The reefs we went to were so nice, and finishing off in El Cielo was truly an amazing experience. It was 11 of us and after doing tons of research, Leon Tours offered the best deal and AMAZING customer service! Will definitely book with them again on my next trip!
We did this tour as an independent excursion while our cruise ship was in Cozumel for the day. While we weren't able to go to El Ciel to see the star fish due to the weather, and they had to sub out another boat because of an engine issue on the original boat, the tour was excellent. Raul and Milton were excellent guides/captains and we got to snorkel at four separate reefs. We also had nice snacks including fruit, guac, chips, beer and water. It was a friendly and fun atmosphere. Even though we were not very experienced snorkelers, we had a great time and lots of help from the crew. I definitely recommend.
We had a wonderful experience and would highly recommend it! The crew was great and made everything very easy and relaxing.
Raul was amazing and a great tour guide, highly highly recommend! Saw barracudas, eagle rays, bat rays, starfish and tons and tons of every king of fish imaginable! The fruits, fresh guacamole, ceviche at the end was perfect!!!
The trip to Cozumel was simply dreamy. The entire tour was perfectly organized, and the crew was friendly, attentive, and ensured a relaxed atmosphere at all times. Particularly impressive was the snorkeling at the reefs; the water was crystal clear, and we could see many colorful fish. There were delicious snacks, fresh guacamole, fruit, and cold drinks, which rounded off the day perfectly. Anyone looking for an unforgettable experience in Cozumel should definitely take this private boat tour. A perfect mix of adventure, relaxation, and paradise-like nature.
Wonderful tour with professional snorkel guide and of course the captain. He guided us through the underwater worlds and spots of Cozumel. There were some turtles, rays and tons of fish schools to see. Simply a dream, followed by a meal in the warm Caribbean water and beer.
The contact is very nice and personal. The tour super organized. Captain and snorkel guide were nice and competent. Lunch so delicious while standing in the turquoise sea and the rays swimming around your legs. Much seen: Shark turtles ray starfish lobster and many colorful fish.
Simply a very nice tour, with a warm welcome at the old south harbor. Everything was relaxed and our very nice guide "Gustavo" guided us well while snorkeling in the turquoise blue water. The captain, Alberto, brought us safely back to our harbor. Highly recommended.
Everything was well organized and the tour was fun, despite there being many other boats at the three spots. The underwater world here unfortunately doesn't seem to be intact anymore, but the stop at the stingrays was worth seeing.
Hello Birgit We would like to thank you and the team again!! There were four of us and we booked the private snorkeling trip on Cozumel, which I can only recommend to everyone! We saw turtles, rays and lots of colorful fish and then swimming on a sandbank was just beautiful. On Costa Maya we went to the seven-colored lagoon Bacala and were also thrilled. Relaxed on the boat, we enjoyed the different colors of the water and also went swimming. We also saw cenotes in the water, which I had never seen before!! Thank you again and we will recommend you to others Jürgen and his team
We were looking for a German-speaking tour. Birgit accompanied us personally and gave us an unforgettable day. She told us a lot about the island and the underwater world in a very informal way. She sent us pictures and videos of the trip free of charge.
We booked this tour spontaneously one night before and were very enthusiastic! They explain the whole process of the tour in detail, so nothing could go wrong😊. During our tour we had two very friendly and open-minded captains on board who were always helpful and also provided a good mood. We (girls 25 and 24) definitely recommend Leontours 😇!
