Need to be reasonable fit as sat in kayak it’s tough on thighs and back, was amazing though and a great experience

Want to thank the Newquay Activity Centre for our Kayak Tour. It was very well organised, safe and our instructors Finn and Sassi made it a lot of fun for both myself and my stepson. The whole trip was nearly two hours in total being out on the water. Kayaking out at sea from Newquay harbour seemed a bit dauting at first but with our instructors guiding us through we even managed to navigate into some caves and did some snorkling also when we reached solid ground. Overall as an experience I would highly recommend.

I've never been Sea Kayaking before, so I was really nervous but our instructor; James, calmed my nerves really quickly. All the kit you need is included in the price, so there are no extra wetsuit hire costs and they also provide safety gear in case you take an unexpected swim. We got to see some Seals, some caves and James also gave us the history of the different areas we visited. The different areas gave us different sea conditions to experience and it was a really fun & exciting way to spend 2 hours. You need to allow for 3 hours, for getting changed before and after & the walk down to the launching spot. I would definitely recommend.

We had a fantastic experience kayaking in Newquay. Our instructor, James was great - he gave clear instructions, was reassuring to those of us who were a little nervous and kept the pace of the session exactly right for everyone. Would highly recommend for anyone looking to try Sea Kayaking ☺️

Had the best morning with James today. Started with a great friendly and professional meet at the shop, given all the gear and helped to put it on. Set off on our kayak tour started with a small walk down to the beech but was soon on the water. A great lesson on how to control the kayak and then a gentle paddle around the base of the coast, we encountered seals, birds and lots in-between. James was very patient with a couple of novices and with his intensive knowledge of the area we soon felt very comfortable and enjoying the experience. Snorkeling after was great, as first timers James was very understanding and a great instructor, after a couple of mouths full of water we were soon again swimming around enjoying the experience and seeing the local sea creatures. Can't thank James enough even going above and beyond while I renewed my parking ticket, Great instructor and made us feel relaxed and happy.

James ran our session this morning and did an excellent job. James was full of facts and fun. James even helped when one of the group lost their shoe in the harbour water. James helped with people who struggled with water confidence and added a load of joy to the session. It was a great session, we would highly recommend to anyone who is visiting the area!! Thank you very much James and the team.

This was our 2nd time using Newquay Activity centre and it was just as amazing as the first time. Myself, my mum and young kids opted for the kayaking and was absolutely not disappointed. We kayaked through a cave, saw a seal and found out lots of amazing stories about the history or Newquay which my kids have loved telling their cousins about. Our instructor Dave, was absolutely brilliant with both my kids making them feel at ease on the water. We'll definitely be back when we're down next year!

This class not only sea kayaking, we also have snorkeling and can't believe saw large groups of cornish crabs, seals, jellyfish... Lots of fun to my family and nice photos share by the instructor.

I booked this for me and my partner, Zak was our guide and he did an excellent job with teaching us how to kayak, taking us through the caves and teaching us the history and folklore of Newquay. It was truly stunning and even saw a seal right next to us. Really enjoyable day and may have even lead to a new hobby for me and partner!

Really well organised kayaking trip. Perfectly pitched to suit the audience with abilities and wants to see and do. The group were given options for viewing caves from the shore which was amazing and we saw lots of wildlife including large jellyfish, seals and birds. Our guide Heath was informative, fun to be with and made us feel very safe and well guided.

Had a lovely experience learning and kayaking with the instructor James. He was a good teacher and very knowledgable about the local wildlife we saw. My partner and I would highly recommend!

We did a kayak tour out of Newquay harbour and up the coast. We explored caves and saw local wildlife. Heath was a brilliant guide and showed us how to paddle correctly and remain safe. Everything about using the activity centre was great from arriving to leaving at end. They were all very friendly and helpful. Overall highly recommend the tour and the activity centre.

The whole experience was amazing, the staff made me feel welcome from the start. Cara was so reassuring and lovely. I hadn’t been kayaking since the guides 50 years ago but I felt safe and exhilarated. I highly recommend this company!

We were originally booked on for kayaking but got transferred to a beginners surfers lesson due to the weather and waves. Our teacher, Ellie, was fantastic. We had a good hour and twenty minutes in the sea. It was a small group so we had lots of 1 to 1 help. Highly recommend.

Super experience 02 Jul 2025. 1200 h slot and the instructor- she was so patient and professional. I struggled with the snorkel bit but the instructor helped out

An amazing experience, you were able to experience the beautiful scenery of Newquay and its wildlife up close whilst enjoying time with friends. I would definitely come back again and bring more people! The staff member that looked after us made everyone feel comfortable and safe gave a wonderful tour of the area

I received a call from a lovely gentleman named Jake/Jack on Sunday the 8th of June while I was airport. He explained that my tour for the following day wouldn't be the best conditions and would like to know if I could change the day to the Tuesday for a better experience. I was departing on Tuesday and wouldn't able to amend my travel. He said no worries we'll see you tomorrow. Safe flight. About 2 hours later I was in stages of boarding my flight when he called again and said sadly they would have to cancel my booking. But they would offer me a full refund and complimentary use of the wetsuits, body boards, etc if I was interested which was a lovely suggestion and good customer service. I agreed to the full refund and again he wished me a safe journey. It's been 5 business days since the phone call and I haven't received an email noting the refund just an email from TripAdvisor asking about my experience. Nothing has appeared in my account as well. Would like an update with regards to my refund.

My husband & I were gifted a Virgin Experience voucher from my son. We agreed on a sea kayaking adventure as, not having done it before, I was willing to give it a go, although my husband had previous sea kayaking, rivers, & canal rowing experience. The initial online booking was seamless and easy and we received informative, helpful emails throughout until the day of our adventure. We arrived to a very warm welcome from Dan [at least I think his name was Dan but I may be wrong - sorry!], who made us feel at ease. We were told what would happen & were shown to our respective communal changing rooms - one for females and one for males. It was reassuring to have a one-sex changing room although for the very busy season, I personally thought it needed to be twice the size as almost all of the open storage cubes were in use as was all the bench space & hooks. When I entered the changing room there were already about 6-7 females changing so the small space was extremely warm and without adequate ventilation. I appreciate we're only in there for 10 minutes but it would be really great to have more changing space. There is a single toilet and basin incorporated in both male & female changing rooms. Whilst there aren't any individual lockers for valuables, there are multi-use lockers of which the staff hold onto the keys. Your possessions are put into an individual tray which corresponds with the outdoor locker number. We were kitted out with wet suits, wet boots, helmets, life jackets & paddles & were given clear instructions how to fit the helmets & life jackets. Our group of 4 had James as our instructor who was extremely professional, personable, reassuring and informative. I told James I was anxious as I'm not confident in deep water [but I wanted to try to overcome my fear] & he reassured me. James guided us down the very steep, rocky descent to the tiny launch bay where our kayaks had been previously placed. James gave us our instructions and off we launched, into the surprisingly warm bay water [well, it wasn't as cold as I'd anticipated!]. James continued to instruct us before he led the group out around the bay. It was at this point that sadly, I had to retreat back to the beach as I suffered a panic attack - this, in spite of me being in perfect control of my kayak and James' expert & reassuring instruction, he couldn't have been more patient & helpful, offering to help me further to try to get me to stay to overcome my fear - thanks James but there was no going back for me by then so the rest of the group continued on without me. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his adventure and was so pleased they saw some seals at very close range and who seemed unperturbed by the onlooking humans! Overall, a very professional, friendly, & highly organised team. We are happy to recommend Newquay Activity Centre for beginners or those with some experience of sea activities.

Dan is a very patient trainer. I have always kept in touch with him. I have never met such an enthusiastic friend. I recommend everyone to try it.

The views are amazing specially when you go In the caves. As I’m kayaking around the coast the instructor James gave me a little history. Really enjoyed it and would recommend anyone to use this service if they’ve never been kayaking on sea before. Thank you James

Amazing experience today sea kayaking, they provided you with wetsuits which were clean and good quality, they had changing rooms and locked away any expensive belongings. I was very apprehensive about kayaking in the sea but nerves soon went once got going got to see some seals up close and ride the waves when it got choppy. Olek made us feel safe from the get go, he was very knowledgeable about the surroundings even got to go into a cave 10/10 would recommend and will be back

We had a great time! Our guide Sean was fantastic. Very friendly & knowledgeable. My 10 yr old was a bit apprehensive about trying snorkeling but Sean showed her how easy it was and she tried it and loved it. Definitely going back next time we're in Newquay.

Amazing tour, went in the morning so got to see a seal which as a fun experience. The waves were definitely an arm workout but makes you nice and hungry for a fun walk/lunch afterwards. Grace, our instructor, was really helpful and fun and had a lot of knowledge of the area which was good. Highly recommend it worth the money

We had the most incredible and memorable private family kayaking session today with instructor Sarah. Sarah was such a fun and awesome Instructor, not only was she competent and taught us well, she also shared her knowledge about the local area, a little of the local history and ofcourse the wildlife. The absolute highlight being a Grey Seal that swam right up to our Kayak. The whole process from Booking, to communicating with the team to the actual session was brilliant. We would do it again in a heartbeat and have discovered a real love of the ocean! Thanks to all the team 👍

Oleks was our guide, he was brilliant, very calm and relaxed, which in turn rubbed off and helped us all relax I think. The sea was pretty choppy, so we maybe didn't go quite as far as usual, but we still enjoyed the adventure!

We had a fantastic evening kayak trip up the Gannel estuary, really beautiful and Sean was an excellent guide. Strongly recommend!

Definitely recommend! Went on the kayak and snorkelling activity. Our initial plan was cancelled due to the high tide, but the guys were super supportive and offered to drive us to the station afterwards so we don’t miss the train. Everyone was really friendly and a big shout out to Alex. Definitely coming back.

Incredible experience. My partner and I we never tried to kayaking before so we were a bit nervous, however Jess helped us as much as possible at all the times. She is lovely, and really patient. Will definitely come back ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My 11 year old daughter and I went on this activity and had a fantastic time. Our guide/instructor was Sam, who was professional, knowledgeable and fun. He made sure that safety was a top priority with having fun a close second. We definitely got to see parts of the Newquay coast that even going by boat you wouldn’t see, such as Pixie Cave and dragon skin rock, and smuggling caves. We even saw a seal who was only about a metre and a half away from us. There is a bit of walking from the base to the kayaks, and a bit of strength and flexibility needed to paddle them, but we had a fantastic time and enjoyed learning some of Newquay’s history from a very different aspect and vantage point. Thank you Sam and the Newquay Activity Centre Team.

Our family of four (two teens) had a great afternoon learning to kayak with James on 20th July. NAC supplied all the equipment and after a thorough briefing from James we were away. Really enjoyable couple of hours on the water and we all were surprised by how much we covered. Thank you James

The boys had the most immense time Kayaking around newquay, in and out of caves. The beautiful sea and views were stunning. They wanted to give a shout out and thankyou to Their Instructor Oleck from Newquay Activity Center as they said he made the Activity even better and will be requesting him for their next Activity.

Safe, educational and fun - 2hrs is just right to have a good paddle around - we learn about the local history and sea life. Cara kept us safe and showed us all the techniques and coves within a reasonable distance from the harbour.
