Private Surfing Lesson

Booked the 121 session for my 8 year old who was excited to have a go at surfing. Her instructor was Beau who was absolutely brilliant. Beau taught her the skills she would need to be able to surf and the fact that my daughter was able to stand up on the board was amazing and made my daughters experience that extra special. Would definitely recommend and my daughter has already asked can we book again next time we come down. Really was the best couple of hours, worth every penny.

Booked two consecutive days for 2hrs as something to do with mates instead of just spending all day in the pub! All of us are aged 45-59 and are not typical agile surfing types! We had an absolute blast!! The instruction was clear and broadly achievable, all staff were friendly and fun. Would fully recommend!! 🏄‍♂️🌊🤙

As a group of Explorer Scouts on summer camp, we had a 2 hour group surf lesson. The coaches were very knowledgable and, in spite of the lack of surf, we had a great session and lots of fun. We would highly recommend Fistral surf School.

Absolutely brilliant experience. My 15yo daughter's first surf lesson. Group was wonderful. Teacher (Beau) was absolutely lovely, kind, clear, encouraging and excellent teaching. My daughter was on her feet within 30mins! Also nice touch having the photographer (Kevin) there and being able to choose photos online.

It's always fantastic when a business totally exceeds your expectations. This can be said of this surf school My Son and I had a 2 hr lesson with Sam. He was amazing. Right pace for us (we wanted to get quickly into the water) with clear instruction and helpful advice. We highly recommend Sam and this business for their commitment to excellence in customer service.

60th Birthday Present for the husband, 5* service from the enquiry to the end of lessons. Husband loved it, Tom was a fantastic instructor and both him and his colleague Ben answered any booking queries I had. Highly recommend this Surf School, friendly, relaxed and extremely experienced. Great value for money.

I highly recommend this company and will be using it again in the future. Ben and Tom were great, very professional and flexible throughout the week. The cadets had an amazing time and will definitely be returning!

We booked a private lesson for our family including a 6 year old. We booked on the day and the booking process was quick and easy. The instructor was fantastic and really accommodated the different age ranges. We had a fantastic time and the kids loved it.

Treated my son to a one on one lesson and it was worth every penny! He had a great time with his instructor and now wants to go surfing all the time! Couldn’t praise this place enough!

My nephews thoroughly enjoyed their surf class and they had a really attentive teacher who encouraged them to participate as they were shy in the beginning. Highly recommended as this was the highlight of their trip and they are still talking about it

My son and I had two brilliant two hour sessions with Nick this week. I’m in my 60’s and a novice (to say the least). Nick was very patient, super-encouraging and A great laugh. By the start of day two I was surfing alongside my son and having a great time. At the same time Nick was helping my son with turns etc.

We had a brilliant private lesson with Alex - two adults and girls aged 12 and 15. Having surfed once before, Alex tailored the lesson so we ran through the basics quite quickly and then spent most of our 2 hours in the water. We were blessed with sunshine and waves and all really enjoyed ourselves, inspired with Alex’s enthusiasm. Definitely recommend a lesson when you visit Fistral Beach. 🏄🏻‍♂️

We booked a private lesson, with photographer, for four kids aged 11-17. All had surfed a couple of times before. They had a brilliant couple of hours and all came out of the water wanting to do more. The instructor was great at differentiating for the more confident older kids and the younger one who needed a bit more support. The additional £35 for the photographer was the best money we spent all holiday! He got such amazing photos of all the kids - over 200 of them! We received the digital photo files the same evening. Such a brilliant way to remember the fun they had, without us on the beach having to do any more than watch them have fun. Next time we go to Cornwall we will 100% book with them again!

I took part in the Women's beginners surf group on Fridays 10.30am till 12.30. I am a complete beginner. mid 40s, respect the ocean, fearful and intimidated, but desperate to learn to surf. I signed up for 4 group lessons, and was very nervous but excited. Great value for money, group sizes are often small so you're almost getting 1 to 1 coaching! Alex is a brilliant coach, patient and understanding, will see your weaknesses and try and improve on these, without being pushy. Celebrated the small wins, and so encouraging. Alex even took me out swimming to try and calm my fear of the waves. 2 hours surfing, went by very quickly, and on the days I was completely knackered and I'd had enough, Alex respected my decision to finish, and didn't try and push me to do more. This experience has left me feeling confident in the water, and able to surf the white waves on my own and progress as much as I can solo, until I need some more coaching, which I will definitely be signing up for!

My son had an improver session with Miles. What a fantastic human he is! So patient and Oliver learnt so much from him that his confidence on the board has been amazing! He was straight back into the water the following day and has been for the last 4 days. Such a wonderful team, great vibes, would absolutely recommend!

I had never surged before but have always wanted too. The guide i had was very well informed and talked me through the basics which I was able to understand and put some into practise in the sea. I felt at ease during and fell in love with surfing during the lesson. Having now gotten the basics i will practise and book further lessons to help me progress ehich I talked through with the instructor who let me know what size board I should get. Really good. Excellent staff.

Alex & Jess are awesome instructors!! Highly recommend booking lessons with them. A group of 10 of us (a mixture of first time surfing and returning to surfing after a break) took part in 8 hours of surfing over 2 days. Not only did we learn so much from both of them, they were incredibly encouraging and down to earth. Focusing on having fun whilst learning and just enjoying the moment. Really great instructors, would highly recommend! Facilities are also great - hot shower tokens were a saviour.

Excellent surf lesson. Myself and my partner have previously had a surf lesson here but this time we booked in our 11 year old twins who were keen for a lesson. They had the best time and the whole team were super supportive and friendly. Jess was their instructor and she was so good at giving the boys confidence and skills to get them standing within the first 10mins! Great venue and would highly recommend to adults and kids alike 😊

If you’re thinking about booking a surf lesson, just stop thinking right now and book it. It was easily the best thing we’ve done as a family. My younger son declared this year was the year he was going to learn to surf and Fistral Beach Surf School were amazing throughout the entire process. They know everything and their instructors are a collection of the nicest people on the planet. Nick was my son’s instructor and he is henceforth known as the G.O.A.T surfer and instructor to my kids. He is some sort of miracle worker as he took my 10 year old son who was terrified of water and taught him with patience and confidence to the point my son stood up on his first try and then after the lesson asked to hire all the kit so he could stay in the sea for the rest of the day.

Me and my daughter on the day decided we would give surfing a go as it is something she has always wanted to do, it was very easy to book on the day (and cheap). The lady (instructor) was for clear and very helpful on what to do especially around health and safety. We felt her main job was to ensure we had fun, learnt and stayed safe. My daughter has ADHD and struggles with instructions but she did not struggle at all and loved it. All staff was very welcoming and good with us. Thank you for a great time and we will definitely be returning ☺️

Had a one on one lesson with Miles, I am blown away with what a positive impact it has had on my surfing, today I took everything he advised me to do and put it in to practice and my surf was unrecognisable. I had a great time at Fistral Beach Surf School. The whole team are super friendly, they made me feel welcome right from the start and changed the boards and wetsuits whenever needed and always had great advice. I booked a private lesson on Day One and it pushed my ability forwards massively, I was standing and turning with an hour, and it gave me a lot of confidence going into the weekend. I highly recommend Fistral Beach Surf School! I will definitely be back!!

I was in Newquay for three days and the guys at Fistral Surf School were really helpful and accommodating throughout my time there. I had a private coaching session one day and hired a board and wetsuit on the others and the team were always friendly, supportive and happy to answer any questions. I'd 100% recommend, thank you!

I was a bit nervous at the start being an older dad (54) with my son who is 11 and has surfed before, but both Nick and Adam made it a beautiful experience. They were so professional and also tailored everything to our wants and needs. I would like to thank them both :-) I would recommend for anyone wanting to surf or even just for the experience. 5 Stars and above from my Son and I.

Booked my son on a group junior lesson. There was only one other child in the group and Nick the instructor was amazing with both of them. Very patient and made them both feel very comfortable and safe when explaining what to do. When he got both kids in the water he was very encouraging and helped both kids to start paddling in the waves. Gave them both a bit of a rest whilst explaining how they should try and stand up! When back in the water Nick was really helpful and encouraging to both kids and managed to get both kids to stand up and ride the surf! My son thought it was amazing and had a great 2 hours with 90 minutes in the water! He’s been smiling ever since and thinks Nick was amazing. Really easy check in and booking process. Everybody was really friendly with other instructors giving the kids high five’s when surfing! Very convenient being the only surf school on the Fistral Beach! Seeing my son surfing at his first attempt was a fantastic experience and can’t thank Nick and the school enough!!!

We booked a private lesson for my 10, 11, 21 year olds and the eldest boyfriend 20. We rocked up introduced ourselves and from the start we had positive vibes. The host introduced us to our instructor a guy called Pidge, wetsuit hire was included for the lesson but my 4 had already hired them for our weeks holiday. Pidge got the kids their boards and they headed down to the beach. On the beach Pidge was really enthusiastic and get the kids involved, answering questions, demonstrating and encouraging. Before you knew it they were in the water giving their new skills ago. Pidge more or less guaranteed they would be stood on their boards before the end of the 2 hours and he more than delivered. All 4 kids ended their lesson with massive smiles and tired bodies. They all enjoyed the experience and every one of them successfully managed to stand on the board and ride the waves.

This was our teen son’s 3rd lesson here. We opted for the private lesson as he has a learning disability. The instructor was amazing and made it really good fun. Our son managed to stand up quite quickly, even if not for long! Everyone who works there is so friendly and it’s in the perfect location. Would highly recommend.

When booking the “private” surfing lesson at fistral beach online for three people it was £45 per person. For £135 we really did think we would be getting a “private” lesson, however it was a group booking with at least 12 people. We were taught on the shore how to position ourselves on the surfboard, how to stand up, how to paddle. We were then left to our own devices in the sea. The instructor did not give me any help or tips. I could have YouTubed how to get on a board myself. It should not be marketed or sold as a private lesson when it was a group lesson that only teaches you how to paddle and then stand on a surfboard. The company would’ve taken at least £450 from everyone in that group and one instructor between all of us was not good enough. I do not recommend.

My daughter (10) and I (49) had a private lesson with Nick. We loved it. Nick was full of positive energy and encouragement and helped us to have a really memorabl experience in the surf on Fistral Beach. We were both first timers but keen to get up on our feet. Nick had great empathy for our respective capabilities (my daughter was much more of a natural than me) and we both ended up standing and surfing. Highly recommended.

We booked two day lessons for our two kids and the third day we only rented boards and a wetsuits. Although it was high season, the groups were small (3 - 5 persons). Really friendly and helpful personnel! I highly recommend this surfing school.

My sister and I had an awesome time at Fistral Beach Surf School! We chose the 2-hour improver session, and Blake was our instructor. He’s super friendly, explains everything in a way that’s easy to understand, and took us to different spots to make the most of the swell. We had so many laughs, caught plenty of good waves and a few wipeouts! We loved every minute of it. Cheers, Blake. Legend! We will definitely be back!

Fabulous lesson with very experienced teacher- As a family of four ( 2 Adults & 2 kids, aged 9 & 11) we had a great time and learnt loads Both kids were standing up by the end of the lessons 😀 👍

Spent the week in Newquay and booked private lessons each day for our girls, 12 and 16, they absolutely loved it. All staff were so friendly and helpful, and the instructors were engaging, enthusiastic and great at what they do- I can highly recommend the school, kids can't wait to go again!

Had a group two hour surf experience. All of the staff were professional, very helpful and obviously love what they do. Nothing was too much trouble. Excellent instructor. Good pre training session before we went into the sea. Well worth the money. Thankyou

Absolutely brilliant, we had a really great time. Very organized, felt completely safe, and perfect amount of tuition in and out of the water. Definitely recommend 😊 ******* (a small observation, and it's not directly related to the school, but... the 'new' photographer.... it might be more fitting for her to wear appropriate clothing when working with children. Especially up close photographing them. The Only Fans Influencer look, completely naked albeit for a piece of string, is not akin to a responsible adult who is conscious of safeguarding minors. Given her colleagues were dressed appropriately, it's reasonable to suggest it may be done to attract sexual attention. Which isn't appropriate with children. There's a time and place.)

I have been coming to Fistral Beach Surf School for many years and learnt to surf here! I have always had the most fantastic teachers, so much fun in my lessons and noticed improvements each time. Everyone at the school is incredibly kind and make each lesson exciting, always making sure that you are challenging yourself while feeling comfortable. I cannot recommend them enough... the best surf school in Cornwall for sure!!!!

21st birthday for my nephew his brother and friends. They loved it. Instructor great, they felt looked after and learnt loads. Also had loads of fun. Thank you. They want to come back.

We booked a surf lesson for 2 (ahem) 40 somethings and a 9 year old. I called ahead to check on a few details and got a welcome set of advice. On the day, Blake and Beau too our lesson with a few others. Both were fun, kind and engaging. No question was too stupid and despite them having to stand in the waves as we all tried to get surfing getting battered by ever bigger waves, they couldn’t have done more for us. Blake went out of his way to make sure my 9 year old caught a few waves and both kept offering tips and advice among the surf to us all. We also got some lovely photos from Kevin. All told, a great experience… albeit 2 hours of surfing left us all thoroughly exhausted, made better by a few beers at the nearby bars. Thanks guys for such a great experience. Hang 10 and all that…!

We came to Fistral Beach Surf School as a group for a work team-building event, and it absolutely exceeded all our expectations! From start to finish, the team was incredibly friendly, professional, and full of energy. We did both a surf lesson and coasteering, and both experiences were unforgettable. The instructors were fantastic — patient, encouraging, and clearly passionate about what they do. For most of us, it was our first time surfing, but the lesson was so well-structured that everyone was standing up and catching waves by the end. Coasteering was a real adrenaline rush — scrambling, jumping, and swimming along the stunning coastline. It pushed us out of our comfort zones in the best way and really brought our team together. Safety was always a priority, but the focus on fun and adventure made it a highlight of our trip. Highly recommend Fistral Beach Surf School for any group looking for something exciting, well-organized, and memorable. We’re already talking about coming back next year!
