We had a family surfing lesson with Mike. It was absolutely brilliant. 2 of us had never surfed before and my son had only done one lesson before. Mike explained everything beautifully, we were up on the boards quickly and we had a brilliant experience. Mike is kind, calm and encouraging. And we all felt like we'd achieved something during the session. Having the close coaching meant that we had lots of opportunities to refine the basics and all left wanting to do more. It was a 2 hour session but went very quickly. We can't wait to do it again next time we're down.. Thanks Mike.

Fantastic lesson with Jack! Thank you so much We had a blast, learnt loads and when my youngest stood on a weaver fish the staff couldn’t have been more helpful getting him back up and getting rid of the burn! It was our first time properly surfing and by the end of our lesson we were all catching waves, able to stand and my oldest was even starting to turn and paddle onto the waves!

Booked a two hour private lesson for myself and my son. We had Jack as our instructor and he was very good. Friendly, good natured, patient and encouraging. Having spent the past 35 years as a professional sports coach, I know good teaching and coaching. Jack and his colleagues have very well structured lessons and excellent coaching skills. I saw them working with pupils of all ages and abilities and they certainly know how to pitch the lesson and improve people. They got me standing and surfing, so they must be good!

Such a fantastic place to learn to surf. Very friendly and happy vibe as soon as you arrive, all the staff were helpful and chatty. Our instructor Jack was very knowledgeable and explained everything in detail, always felt like the kids were in safe hands in the water. The whole experience was great from start to finish. Would 100% recommend this place!!!

This is the third time we have been to Escape surf school in Newquay and it was the best so far! Lindsay and Mike are excellent hosts who run the place like clockwork but also so relaxed! We loved the family surf lessons with Henry who is an excellent instructor and also very kind and patient! We highly recommend this surf school and it is also well located for great food from Belushi's!

A great team of professional, knowledgable and technically brilliant surfing instructors. Had daily surfing sessions during our week. All teachers/coaches were enthusiastic in all conditions, supportive and provided individual tailored positive advice and tips. We were aged between 15 and 65 years old and the whole Escape team were great with all age groups and always remained particularly tolerant with us at the older end of the age spectrum! Great friendly people. Great week's surfing. Great fun! Thank you Mike, Simone, Reubin, Pigeon, Henry and the rest of the team.

Our family had a great couple of lessons with Richard and the Escape crew. All the staff are very friendly and were patient with all of us. We were here before for a taster in July and will certainly be back again. We all loved our experience with Escape.

Superb surf school. Great fun, good people, and incredible teaching. They quickly helped us go through the beginner lessons to get out on some green waves. Our group had a blast!

Thanks for a great introduction to surfing for my two teens and myself last Friday. Sam was full of encouragement and made the whole experience worthwhile. Looks like the kids are naturals; Dad not so much. We’ll be back

I had a poor experience with a different surf school the day before which left me feeling deflated and nervous to try a new school. I booked a group beginners lesson with escape and it was amazing. There were only 2 students in the class, and Mike was such a great instructor. Not only did he have me standing up on every wave, even the green waves, but he taught me how to spot a good wave so that I would be comfortable going out on my own. I left this lesson feeling the bug for surfing again, and will definitely be back!

Super friendly, very patient, great equipment, best instructor. We try and make this an annual pilgrimage to Cornwall and the Escape Surf School.

Had a private lesson with my Wife and 2 children (5&7) Glenn our instructor was brilliant, with calm and clear instructions. We all managed to get up on the board by the end of the lesson which was our goal. We all really enjoyed our lesson as a family Can’t recommend Escape Surf enough!

Excellent 2 hour surfing lesson on Fistral beach with Pigeon who perfected our technique, taught us turns and gave us lots of useful tips. He was very encouraging and enthusiastic - he seemed to really enjoy his job

Absolutely amazing! As beginners we decided to have two private family lessons on consecutive days. Reuben (our instructor) was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, patient and accommodating to our individual needs. Thank you for two fantastic afternoons.

Absolutely amazing! I would urge anyone planning to have surf lessons to do so with Escape Surf School. As beginners we opted for a private family lesson as we knew we’d need the help! Our instructor, Reuben, was friendly, extremely knowledgeable and ensured we all got to grips with the fun of surfing. It’s fair to say we have all caught the surfing bug. We had an incredibly fun experience for our first time surfing. Reuben was a very friendly & motivating instructor. When we return we would specifically ask for him.

Glen made it easy to improve and the kids got along very well with him. They were bubbling with excitement for the next lesson!

Fantastic experience! Two family lessons for 4 complete beginners. All staff made us feel very welcome and the instructor, Pigeon, had oodles of patience. Kit was good, instruction was excellent, location was good with added bonus of a wee outdoor shower afterwards. When the weather failed to deliver the waves on the second lesson Pigeon still had us up on the boards! Can't fault it.

Richard (Pigeon) is an gem! Thorough and helpful, he really instilled a love of surfing for us! I would definitely do this again!

Fab day on Fistral Beach for a private family surf lesson with Richard (Pigeon). Beginners heaven with the waves just right and great fun. Friendly and helpful. Up on a board no problem within minutes. Top tips :If you have your own wet suit I'd use it as the ones on offer can't be expected to fit perfectly but there are plenty to choose from if you have the time and effort: Don't take anything to the beach that is precious as it all gets lumped into one big sandy bag, including my Tom Ford sunglasses... Whoops 🤭 : Be prepared to have to carry a big board back from the beach to the car park. Was ok for me, but I ended up carrying 2 boards as it was very hard for my daughter over the sand and dunes. All together was great and would def go again.

Great experience. Glenn was our instructor and he made everything easy to learn. Hot showers and changing facilities were good too.

Three teens had an amazing time surfing with Mike today. Great coach, very supportive and rest of the team helpful and friendly. Lindsey also great. My guys have now got the surf bug and we will probably have to move to Cornwall ! We will be back.

We are a family which started surfing 2017 with Escape Surf school in Newquay. We are 51, 50, 17 and 16 years old. By now we have been three times with the Escape Surf school, in May 2017, in March 2018 and beginning of September in 2019. We always did three to four family lessons and some of us did additional group lessons in between. We enjoyed every time very much. Especially the teaching technique to give the board a little push (or hold it) made even the first lesson to a success. We had one natural In the family, I'm quite the opposite (the other two were something in between), but even I was more than once riding the wave in the first lesson. The facilities are great, all staff is very friendly and make you feel very comfortable. Reubin and Mike are outstanding teachers and surfers. Since we are Germans I may add that their English is very good to understand. We are already thinking about lessons next year maybe this time End of October the pictures which were posted on Instagram of the waves look great for October😉, But as I said already, all of our stays were great. So if you’re looking for a new challenge try surfing in Newquay with the escape surf school. By the way Cornwall is lovely to visit in any case.

We booked 2 private lessons over a long weekend, we were a group of 4 adult males. We were due to have a lesson on Friday and Saturday, as Saturday was flat and Sunday was forecast to be better they suggested we move the Saturday lesson, I’m glad we did as the surf was really good. We had 2 teachers, Mike and Richard (or Pigeon) and both were really good. They had all of us standing and riding waves in the first lesson then showed us turning in the second. The equipment they give you is really good, wet suits fitted well and kept us warm. There are hot showers (outside) with soap and shampoo provided, towels, deodorant, sun cream, all available. I would thoroughly recommend this surf school.

Fantastic experience with Escape Surf School. We had planned three family lessons but ended up due to work commitments and sickness only having one family lesson out of the three planned. They were super flexible, professional, knowledgeable and helped moved all of our differing surfing abilities on quickly. My youngest who had never surfed before who ended up doing all three lessons was up and turning across the waves by the second lesson. We would definitely use them again and highly recommend.

Brilliant fun had today learning to surf with both of my teenage kids. Of course my kids were naturals and I not so!🤣😂 I highly recommend Escape Surf School, friendly staff and our instructor Reuben was excellent. He is extremely knowledgable and explained everything from safety to techniques very clearly and precisely. Would definitely use the Escape Surf School again.🏄‍♂️🏄‍♀️🏄🏽‍♂️ Both teenagers said “Best afternoon ever!”

Excellent communication and very warm welcome from the staff. Lesson was very well delivered by Richard (Pigeon) who got us all standing on the board within the 2 hours. Would recommend a private lesson by Escape. Thank you for making it a really good experience.

Had a week of family lessons with Reuben and are looking at coming again for a return visit. He was extremely informative and patient with us the whole week, constantly letting us learn a lot more about the beaches, waves and surfing. He was able to split his attention between my parents who remained in shore a lot more and my brother and I, who went outback. This gave it a real personal feel and we all certainly progressed throughout the week. Hot showers were excellent at the end of a session and all equipment was provided in the cost. All other staff were brilliant as well, thank you guys!
