Fistral beach surf hire is great, Friendly staff. Great instructors and good equipment. Archie took us out for an intermediate lesson - great tips - good surf!

We had a brilliant time at the surf school on Monday as part of our school trip. The instructors were really friendly, patient and encouraging, and they made sure everyone felt comfortable and involved, regardless of experience. The whole session was really well organised, and it was great seeing everyone in the class having fun and giving surfing a go. The instructors created a really positive atmosphere and were great at explaining everything clearly. We’ve been coming back as a school for trips like this, and it’s always been a great experience. We’d definitely recommend the surf school to other schools looking for a fun and well-organised activity day!

My son and his friend (both aged 15) had a beginner surf lesson for two hours. The instructor was thorough, clear and friendly: they had a great time.

Our new instructor Alex was awesome. She got us standing up on the surf board in our first lesson. Great beach and whilst waves were not huge they were great for a first go. If you are going do it in the morning otherwise parking can be difficult

Amazing experience My boys aged 14 and 17 had the best time We were well looked after, staff were polite, friendly ,helpful and reassuring Their instructor was a fantastic young girl and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish Highly recommend a trip to this surf school right on fistral beach

Did group beginner lessons 2 days in a row with Holly then Alex. They were so friendly and made you feel confident. I went with my older son & daughter and we all LOVED IT! They explained everything so well I really felt like we learnt the technique and we all managed to stand up 👏🏼 👏🏼 Amazing thank you so much xxx

We rented a surfboard for £17 and wetsuits for £12 each - everything was of good quality and good value for money. Keep in mind the school closes at 5 so you need to boring everything back by then.

Good surf hire with plenty of kit for a big group. Staff all very friendly and good location. Wetsuits all seemed in reasonable nick, dropped one star for the foamies. Would like to see rigid fins and a slick surface underneath all of the boards, to give at least a taj of performance. That said, we did book beginner boards, which is what we got

I joined the ladies-only beginner surfing lesson, and it was fantastic! The session was great fun while also being really well structured, with plenty of clear, practical advice throughout. Our coach, Alex, guided us through the basics and helped build our confidence in the water before we had a go at standing up on the board. It was such an enjoyable couple of hours that I booked another lesson for the following week! Alex was an absolute star—friendly, patient, and never judgemental. She created such a welcoming and encouraging atmosphere that made the whole experience even better. I’d highly recommend this lesson to anyone thinking of giving surfing a try.

Great session! Miles and Adam were great instructors. After surf hot shower token is helpful but allowed only for two mins.

Absolutely outstanding. We booked for our 16 year old daughter. Sam's teaching and individual attention were brilliant! We were taking some photos just before we left - Sam even brought us a surf board to use! Attention to detail at its best.

We really enjoyed our surf lesson! The instructor was great at explaining how to get started and he also helped me a few times by steadying my board to help me catch waves, when it was a really choppy day. We also appreciated being able to get discounted hire on the surfboards for the rest of the afternoon after the lesson. We'd love to come back again and learn more next year! If you're considering trying out surfing, Fistral Beach is the best place to do it! I was personally nervous before the lesson (I've tried skateboarding and snowboarding and was rubbish) but I was really pleased that I managed to stand up (albeit very briefly) by the end of the day!

Excellent surf school. Very clear and informative teaching that was then proven correct in the water. Really friendly staff that make you feel welcome and are very encouraging to beginners. They got me standing within the session. As a tall guy my centre of gravity is poor and I have long legs to swing through. Would recommend.

We booked the 2 hour lesson with them and it was our first time surfing. Our instructor - Nick was very helpful. After the group instructions, when we went in the water he came to us individually to help us. The wet suit and surf board were good. The staff is very helpful. We didn't use the washrooms as we had our stay close by. The water is beautiful and beach is very clean. Great experience, will definitely go back.

The school has really friendly staff, easy booking process, two wonderful women surf instructors for our group. They gave very helpful instructions out and in the water.

Had 2x2hr sessions with Valentina, fantastic experience and fully recommended. The complete experience was thoroughly enjoyable. Valencia was very relaxed and made the session an enjoyable experience. A very accomplished coach. Good fun to work with and learn from.

Really good to get onto a surfboard for the first time at the age of 46! Being tall I did really struggle with standing up. The pre-instruction was good, in-depth and easy on the sand. In the waves, not so much. Struggled in the end and sat out the last 30 minutes - it’s so tiring!!! Only thing I did expect more was better instruction and help in the water; assisting with the board or helping with a technique whilst trying to ride the waves.

What can I say it was great right from the start the guy at reception was super nice and so was our teacher. The equipment seems very good and not long was waisted before the lesson started. With a quick safety brief and basic technique it was of into the water. It was great and while I did not manage to stand up 3 month after c section I was just happy to be out and do something really fun

This is something I have always wanted to try and this did not disappoint an absolute amazing experience on the fantastic fistral beach. Alex our instructor was excellent and very patience especially with me!!. Don't think about it do it brilliant, I will be back

These guys was amazing with my friend and i's granddaughters, they had never tried surfing before, they spoke to them so they understood and was very safety conscious and provided upto date equipment for them to use

My Daughter had surfing lessons here in the Easter holidays. We got all the information needed the previous day by a staff member so knew what we needed to bring etc. The day of the lesson Tom was helpful, said there is an earlier lesson which she could join. He helped us getting on the wet suit and offered me a wetsuit for free to go in the water alongside her as I was a bit anxious. The Lady who did the lesson was lovely, spoke to the children, give them time to digestive information and was out in the sea with them helping them to get on the boards- this did put me at ease. My daughter raved about how much fun she has and then moves she tried to do . She has said she cannot wait to go again. Would recommend to do this . Staff are amazing and so helpful

I booked 2 of my children onto a group surf lesson, they absolutely loved it, the instructor was very friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable but more importantly had a great deal patience, both of my children were able to stand on the board by the end of their session, I hired a board and wetsuit for myself on 2 different days, the equipment is very good quality and again all the staff are friendly and knowledgeable with some great tips and advice, I would highly recommend these guys, and I will definitely be returning in the near future.

We ran a yearly trip for 60 people down to Newquay last weekend, and Fistral Beach Surf School were fantastic with sorting our 40 wetsuit and surfboard rentals. The staff are lovely, and made sure everything ran smoothly for the get go. I can't recommend better service for price if you are considering a large group rental in Newquay. Thanks guys. - UMSC

It was me and my friends first time surfing and everyone managed to stand up which was incredible !!

My son (age 9) and I (age 39) had a fantastic surf lesson at Fistral. We had never been surfing before and by the end of the lesson we were both able to stand up and catch a wave. The instructors explained everything very carefully and demonstrated what we needed to do before we got in the sea. Then we had a go. It was so fun! The wetsuits were really warm too. We were given extra tips and advice in the sea about where to put our feet and when to start paddling. We thought the instructors were great! We will definitely be back for another lesson, wetsuit and board hire. Thank you :)

We did the beginner surf lesson; me my daughter (13) and son (12). We loved it! Great instructor, helpful and patient! Definitely recommend.

Brilliant experience, staff amazing and teaching was great. We hired the equipment for the rest of the day which helps with the whole experience. Can’t remember our instructors name but he was amazing giving all of us some individual coaching, he was from Australia.

We had really good fun attending the beginner surfing lesson, both the tutors were extremely experienced, empthathic to be able to handle a large group of more than 15 people ranging from as young as 9 to 50+ in the same group. They spend time individually with each and everyone in the group to make sure they are able to learn and also have fun at the same time. I would recommend the to anyone of any age wanting to learn to surf !

My two sons and I participated in a group surfing lesson. There were only four of us in total. The lesson was amazing. Our instructor was Alex. She was an amazing teacher. She gave each us individualized attention and helped each us improve, even though we differed in our skills. I highly recommend learning from the Fistral Beach Surf School. Every staff member we encountered was professional and highly skilled. The entire experience including the delicious Cornish pasty, obtaining the best gear, the lesson, and the hot shower at the end, was flawless.

Me and my best friend, both in our 30s had 3 days of surfing lessons here and it was EPIC! We had Alex on two of the days and Layla on one - both are fantastic instructors, so knowledgeable and helpful, and FUN!! They teach every step with so much patience, and constantly give you feedback in and out of the water, teaching at its best - I didn’t think I’d ever be able to stand up on a surf board but we did, thanks to our amazing instructors!! Another important point to note is the location, this is by far the best located surf school, right on the beach with all the equipment you need. We will absolutely be back for more surf lessons and fun - thank you to the team for being amazing!

I have never been surfing before and was very excited to try it out. I absolutely loved the lesson! The tutor was very friendly, there was 6 of us in the lesson, and it didn’t take long to be out trying it in the sea. I think for a beginner I did really well and was able to stand up, I would highly recommend going to Fistral Beach School if you're looking for a beginner lesson on surfing. They provided the wetsuits and they were comfortable and a good fit.

Amazing couple of hours in the sea. Nick our instructor was fantastic at explaining the safety precautions and was super helpful when it came to giving some cues to ensure we had the best experience but also actually learn to surf the right way. Thank you, it topped off my hen doo nicely! Will definitely return!

My brother and children came to visit us in Cornwall and they wanted to try surfing. I booked Fistral Beach Surf School as Fistral has an amazing rep for surf. We had an amazing time. Tom out instructor was friendly, helpful, fun and inspiring. We has a great time. I would recommend this place to anyone. Thank you so much!!

My friends and I came down to Fistral for a beginners surf lesson with Abi (surf instructor) for my birthday and had an absolutely amazing time!! Abi made us feel very safe and comfortable, the surf conditions were perfect as advised by the team before we travelled down. We had the best time and felt like we have found a new hobby. Can’t wait to come back and do it again! ❤️

We had an amazing time! I never thought I would be able to stand up on a board but the instructors were so helpful that I did! There were lovely and really helped my friend and I enjoy our time. What was even better was that we could pay a bit more after to keep our board and wetsuit to keep on practicing! Thank you for the awesome experience!

The wind was really high and I thought it would be too much for my 8 year old son and I to surf for the very first time. Everyone at the surf school was amazing and reassured us that we will love it. Which we did. Blake and Nick our surf instructors were fantastic to the point that I never had to worry about my son at any time considering the waves were so big. They were constantly helping us and making sure we were safe.

What an amazing experience. Ive never tried surfing before, my partner did couple lessons before, we both did a beginning class with Blake and we were lucky enough nobody else joined us a 9am class so we had the beach and coach to ourselves. He was very patient and crafted the class to our level. We were welcomed by very friendly staff that showed us around and equipped us with wet suits (btw it keeps you warm even on not so warm day) 2 hr practice definitely was enough to learn basics and to make us want to do it again and again. Great experience all around, not to mention the legendary Fistral Beach as a backdrop 👌🏻

Such a great surf school! Me and my friend booked the 9am beginner class, we were given wetsuits to wear, headed out to the beach and did a safety talk, practised on the sand and then in the sea. Blake our instructor was very helpful and kind. I struggled to stand up so he would often come over to me and tell me exactly when to get on the board and help me to surf. Small class of 6 was perfect, super close to the car park and would really recommend! 10/10 and a special thankyou to Blake for being such a good teacher.

Nick is the best beginners surfing instructor! The team are all so friendly and made our first family experience surfing in Cornwall an absolute joy. Nick was brilliant with the kids (and us), he helped us and we all managed to stand up by the end of the lesson! We thoroughly enjoyed it and would highly recommend Fistral Beach Surf School to anyone. Our family all sat on the beach and watched us take part too which was fun! Thanks again for the super memories guys!

We had a beginner surfing lesson this week and it was SO much fun! I have had beginner lessons before teaching other techniques but the way these guys taught us how to pop up it felt so much better. Much more successful surfing lesson! And right on the beach! Love it. Chloe.
