Lodge is basic good standard inside, Smart TV’s are low quality and not as advertised. Hot tub malfunctioned and felt me with several abrasions and bruises which was solved but staff draining so could not be used and no compensation offered. Would not recommend staying here

A fantastic place in Portreith Cornwall. 2 mins from a lovely sandy beach. Accommodation with a great view and everything you need. Going through a refurbishment of chalets. Lovely bar and restuarant and swimming pool, spa and gym. Small golf course and a fishing lake. What more could you need.
We stayed in the lakeside studios. Location was perfect with all sorts of birds appearing and the view across the fishing lake. Room itself was a little forgotten with the place nearby being the same with trellice falling apart on the floor where no staff tidied up our whole stay despite 2 separate visitors being there. Ours was tidy but little forgotten about things like flaky paint, clocks not working, boiling tap turned off because it trips the fuse and there isn't really great storage for 2 people. The resort I think may still be in administration so ignore the website, the animal farm area is all closed down and overgrown/falling apart and the golf course, storage for this + next door sales office looks abandoned. But this may change in future as the climbing wall had just reopened. It's just rubbish walking around the resort if you go down to use any facilities or down the footpath to the beach. We paid £140 a night and it was worth it. If I paid any more I'd consider myself ripped off. It's definitely not a 5 star resort but if you expect a 3-4 star you won't be disappointed.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Gwel an Mor and wouldn't hesitate to return. From the moment we booked, everything was smooth and well organised. The staff were friendly, welcoming and always happy to help, which made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. We stayed in a Signature 3 Bedroom Lodge, and it exceeded our expectations. It was spacious, spotlessly clean, well equipped and perfect for our family. The private hot tub was a real highlight and was enjoyed every day after exploring Cornwall. The facilities were excellent. We used the swimming pool every day, as well as the sauna, steam room and gym, all of which were clean, well maintained and a fantastic addition to our stay. We were celebrating our daughter's birthday during our visit. Although the birthday card was accidentally forgotten at first, the reception team quickly sorted it when we mentioned it and kindly gave us complimentary passes to the indoor soft play area, which was a lovely gesture and showed genuine care for their guests. The location is fantastic and made it easy to explore some of Cornwall's most beautiful places, including St Ives, Carbis Bay and Newquay. If I had one small suggestion, it would be that some of the exterior areas could benefit from a little freshening up, as parts looked slightly tired from the outside. However, this is only a minor point and didn't take away from what was otherwise an excellent stay. Overall, the combination of the welcoming staff, beautiful lodge, fantastic facilities and superb location made this an easy 10/10 for us. Thank you to everyone at Gwel an Mor for helping us create some wonderful family memories. We look forward to returning in the future.
We (myself, daughter, son in law, and their dog) stayed in this stunning and beautiful resort while visiting my other daughter and her family, who stay in Illogan. We stayed in lodge 10, hosted by Laura. The lodge is very spacious and over 2 levels, with a balcony upstairs and patio with a bench off the main bedroom downstairs. Equipped with a dishwasher and washer dryer in the fully fitted kitchen. Place was all lit up for us checking in, and a welcome pack. Beds were comfy to sleep in, towels supplied, and travel size toiletries in the bathroom. Had a the most pleasant stay in our lodge, with beautiful calming surroundings and a view of Portreath beach which is only a 10-15 minute walk away. We also dined one night with all the family in The Terrace restaurant, which was amazing and the staff were excellent. All staff in the resort are the most friendly and helpful, which proved even more so when my son in law needed help with his car tyre. Hope we get the chance to stay here again when visiting family. We travelled from Glasgow.
