This hotel has the potential to be great given it's location and large size but is let down by a lack of upkeep and modernisation. Yes it is an old building but simple things like peeling enamel in the bath and a shower hose which was removed rather than being replaced shouldn't be permitted by management. Decor was dull and tired. Room cleanliness was good but not great. For the price I was a bit disappointed. On a positive note all staff I met were helpful and friendly and the breakfast was very good. The leisure centre nearby (€10 day pass) was very well equipped with a great pool and sauna.

Unfortunately, my stay was disappointing. The room size did not feel worth the price, the lighting was very poor, and the cleanliness could have been better upon arrival. Additionally, there was a guy behind the counter with receptionist girl , I encountered was quite rude and could have been more professional. Overall, I was dissatisfied with my experience and would not recommend this hotel to others.
Perfect stopover on our journey west. Room was great with everything we needed. Restaurant was closing when we arrived but they still managed to seat and serve us. Food was great too. Very friendly and helpful staff♡ Excellent breakfast, and a takeaway coffee for the journey all refreshed. Thank you Clayton Hotels staff.
The check-in was easy. The room was ok overall but, due to warm weather the room was extremely hot, a fan was provided but, there is no air con fitted. The breakfast is good, buffet style. The bar/restaurant has some nice food. The bar has a wide selection of drinks but, make sure you know in advance of when it closes, as the times are very random. Staff from reception are reluctant to serve anyone past 10pm….. even when there are lots of resident customers still there. Plenty of parking available.
I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel to say the least. I booked this for a work trip and booked it for convenience due to the location. Based on the previous reviews I was expecting the worst but it was the complete opposite. Upon arrival there was plenty of parking right at the hotel entrance which made it easier. The outside of the building could do with a small bit of a painting/power washing. The receptionist was lovely and got me checked in straight away. Inside was clean. The room's were massive and spotless. Also came with everything you could possibly need. I got food that evening down in the restaurant/bar. Again service was good, only minor issue was the time it took for the food to come out from Kitchen but I'm assuming that was due to the pressure from a large group of tourists also there at the same time, compared to the other tables around me who got their food in a decent time. Food is reasonably priced and decent portions. The breakfast was included in the price was also good and plenty of food to go around compared to other establishments which would be very limited. All in all, I would definitely stay here again when visiting Cork.
