The Mosque Catedral in Codoba is a unique experience which you cannot miss if in Cordoba. It was made all that much better by our tour guide José. He was very knowledgeable and helpful
The mosqu/cathedral is a beautiful complex historic building and without a knowledgeable guide you would fail to appreciate alll of it’s wonders.
If you are in the geographical area of Andalucia, miss this attraction at your absolute peril! A day trip to Cordoba from Sevilla by rail was our choice and it was an unforgettable experience. Our pre-booked time slot with an English guide worked faultlessly - from the pre arranged meeting point where the tickets and headphones were handed out until the last minute with recommendations to continue our tour at the museum with film show (all included). As surely mentioned many times by reviewers, the building interior is simply amazing and the explanation of developments over history by our guide, Christina, was just superb and explained in a first-class manner!
If you want to know the detail about the history of this incredible building, this tour is well worth it. The rich history bought the architecture alive and understand how what you see today developed over the centuries. The only issue is that due to regulations you do not have any time afterwards to revisit areas of particular interest for a second look.
Our guide was wonderful and we learned so much about the Mosque-Cathedral as well as the history of the region.
The visited sites themselves are stunning and would have benefited from a better tour guide. The English speaking guide speaks broken English with a strong accent and none of us was able to follow the contents. The pace was slow partly because we couldn’t understand what he’s telling us. We’d rather spend that time waiting around on exploring the palace garden. All in all, not great experience and not good value for money in our view. Hope other visitors have a guide who speaks English more clearly.
We did the English tour which was super comprehensive and showcased the beauty of the Mousque-Cathedral. I highly recommended guided tour.
My husband and I visited the Mosque-Cathedral in Cordoba a number of years ago. What a difference having a guide to this extraordinary place made. As with all the other Viator guides we have had, our guide was very knowledgeable. We learned a lot about the building itself and even more about its history over the years. He was very open to answering questions. It was a wonderful experience.
We visited the Mosque-Cathedral in early October, and it was absolutely amazing! The architecture, history, and atmosphere were all incredible- it's one of those plac es that really takes your breath away. Our guide was knowledgeable and made the visit even more interesting with great details. The place is a must see if you visit Cordoba.
Very knowledgeable guide. Impressive architecture and history. Just wish it were a bit longer and more details.
The guided tour was a perfect amount of time and the guide spoke extremely good English and was very knowledgeable. A very enjoyable 1.5 hours spent.
Our guide was excellent!! He was very knowledgeable and easy to follow. Learned so much fascinating history and information we never would have gotten on our own. He was very friendly and always open to all questions! The only down side is that you can’t ever view/walk around the mosque independently. You enter as a group, stay together as a group the entire time, and leave as a group. There was not the opportunity to see some of the side chapels or go back to places we would have liked to have spent more time at. But definitely think the guide is worth it.
Our guide Borja was incredible. Part poet, philosopher, historian, comic, he made the Ahlambra come alive.
We found this a really good tour, our tour guide Enrique was very clear and broke down all the information so that we came away understanding the compelling history of this fantastic monument, which added to visual grandness that we experienced.
Our tour guide was just average at best. Only covered the main parts. Not the most engaging , but he did have a good understanding of the history. We did not know that the group tour tickets does not allow us to stay in the mesquita after the tour ended, leaving us less than 5 minutes to take photos and explore the non covered areas. Tour also started 20 minutes late and ended in an hour. I would recommend getting individual tickets and reading up about the mesquita yourself, leaving a lot more time to see the place.
Very informative tour, with good flow despite the crowds. The sounds was not always as good in the audio system. Very knowledgeable guide.
The tour guide was very knowledgeable and shared interesting stories and perspectives of the Alcazar. She also spoke very clear English. I accidentally booked the tour in Spanish and realized it the night before. I sent a message to the tour company directly and they took care of moving us to an English one. Flawless and helpful.
Wonderful Mosque-Cathedral. The guide was knowledgeable however there were times where we held in one place too long listening to her rather that walking around and seeing more things.
Our guide was very good, knew her material and lots of time to take pictures and enjoy the mosque/cathedral
Fascinating and informative adventure around the architectural history of this beautiful building, in unusually high September temperatures with boiling sunshine outside. The building was an unexpected gem of shelter from the weather, with a spotlight on how the Christian treated the Muslims back in the day. Didn’t end well.
Super informative and interesting tour. Added so much more context to this sight than if we visited it alone. Highly recommended!
The guide was excellent! She had a wealth of knowledge and provided an interesting and very informative tour. The guide answered all questions posed by the group and was friendly and approachable.
This is a great tour. The guide had a great pace with just the right amount of knowledge to appreciate the enormity and importance of this cultural jewel.
It was easy to find the Tour Guide shop near to the Mosque/Cathedral. The tour was interesting and not too long.
Organizationally, the tour was fine. Timely and the equipment all worked. The tour guide was knowledgeable and friendly. Far too much information was presented throughout and it all was facts - dates and numbers. Extremely boring. No stories and no meaning or intention behind the facts. The delivery was too fast, similar pitch and with an almost unintelligible accent. After five minutes the spiel could have been Spanish or gibberish. I was tempted to just turn the sound off. After an hour and a half I sadly know little more than when I started. I would not recommend this guide as nice as she was.
This Mosque is quite unique and there is so much history here, so taking a tour with a guide is a good idea.
I really enjoyed this tour! It was just over an hour long but provided enough history to keep you interested and to give you insight into how this mosque cathedral came about. A must see regardless of your religion.
Incredible place, the architecture was outstanding especially with the contrast between the beautifully detailed Moorish mosque and the full blown cathedral within. An absolute must see
We didn’t love the tour. The Islamic part of the Mezquita was beautiful as expected of Moorish architecture. Our guide spoke through an audio device and it was hard to hear her at times. She also seemed to jump back and forth in the timeline of the Moors and Spanish, making it confusing to follow. The Spanish-Catholic additions were a bit over the top and detracted from, more than enhanced the beauty of the Moor’s architecture. Some tour guides love their jobs and their enthusiasm translates but I thought our tour was lacking in presentation and organization of information.
one of the great wonders of Spain Cordoba also good for sight seeing Extra characters blah blah blah blah Blah
We were part of a small group and the guide was very professional, he held the group together as we visited this beautiful building, he kept the the commentary flowing and the facts/dates to a understandable level. The guide was able to answer all the questions posed and really brought the place alive!! A great visit to a beautiful place, thank you!
A unique experience . professional guide and a very interesting tour. The price was steep though. Suitable for all categories
Thanks for the tourist guide for all the great informations Good company and well organized. Thank you
The guide was very knowledgeable and friendly as she shared all the historical facts about the impressive mosque-cathedral.
This tour was excellent. The guide provided a thorough history and made the whole experience memorable. My only minor complaint is that the directions for the meeting point were a bit confusing, but I appreciate that they called me to see where I was and then directed me to the right location. But that didn't have anything to do with the actual tour which again was fantastic!
This mosque/cathedral has an amazing and very long lived history that was explained to the group by our tour guide. Just walking through the cathedral is wonderful. But, having a tour guide to explain the complicated history over hundreds of years and the changing rulers with their additions/changes to the cathedral added a deeper appreciation for this magnificent place.
Not very flexible, not luxury at all. Seems misleading. Best to just go to mosque and get the audio tour there… will end up spending way less and get the same experience.
Jorge/George was an excellent guide...we particularly liked the way he gave a chronological context to the development and change of the mosque/cathederal.his English was good and he obviously was not reciting a script.he answered all questions willingly and honestly.
Very knowledgeable guide who was clear and enthusiastic. Just right. Pointed out differences in the phases of development , with particular reference to the architecture.
Great guide and Great tour. Guide was organized, knowledgeable, friendly and helpful to all. Highly recommended. One of the most amazing historical structures in the world.
Although it was a very wet day, we greatly enjoyed our visit. The site is magnificent, but our well-informed guide helped to bring it to life. If I had one criticism, it would be that we didn't have much time to explore the site ourselves, as all tour groups must enter and leave together. It would have been nice to look around after the tour. Still, this is a wonderful experience. Truly breathtaking.
Top Tickets Team is a rip-off. Booked online 4 tickets for the. Cordoba Mosque (not the guided tour) . Paid Euro 119.96 for 9th March. Received an email with 4 tickets for the price of Euros 13 each This is unacceptable robbing people in broad daylight. This team sells tickets online saying it's the official site. BEWARE do NOT BOOK with this company. Very disappointed.
Very informative. Guide was knowledgeable and personable. Only downside was it was crowded, and it was difficult to hear at times.
José was a very good guide! Very knowledgeable. Interesting history, amazing building! Unique experience! Thank you very much!
The audio devices are abysmal, very poor transmission of the speaker. The speaker’s English was very poor. Trip Advisor should make some changes; better/new audio devices and insure that the guides speak the intended language advertised for the tour.
The site is amazing and so it’s easy to show people around giving them a taste of the incredible and long history associated with the place. Our guide was informative and thorough. Did she bring the tour to life? Not so sure 🤔
Gloria was very knowledgeable and attentive. The company was well organized and the instructions on how to collect the tickets were clear. We would use this company again.
Great tour & building - our tour guide Jose was very knowledgeable and did great in explaining the previous mosque and the catedral. I wish we had a bit more time for pictures and general wandering. Group was a bit big - 28. Audioguide worked really well.
Our tour guide had a good command of the information of the mosque and cathedral. The information was heavy on the mosque aspect. Would have liked to hear a bit more about the Catholic transition. It would have been nice to be able to spend a bit more time inside on our own after the tour ended. There were some areas we would have liked to just sit and enjoy in short meditation.
