The guide was courteous and knowledgeable. The tour was filled with information about the Jewish quarter and philosopher. I was disappointed because he stood for 5 minutes talking about his college and shared no relevance to the famous Ophthalmologist, Muhammad ibn Qassoum al-Ghafiqi, who’s statue was standing right behind us. He is famous for his work on cataract and he lived and died in Cordoba. The tour guide did not bother to mention Ibn Rushd who is a Cordoba native and his world famous in the world of philosophy. The lack of reference to Islamic scholars is disappointing. Please teach your team to share history with authenticity.

Itinerary
The Guided Tour performed by expert historians, will lead you through an alive temple that has been witness to numerous historical events. It will not leave you indifferent. We will explain the different stages of construction, starting from the remains of the old Visigothic basilica of San Vicente that are still preserved. We will follow the Guided Tour to the old mosque that was built by Emir Abderraman I and the following expansions until the Almanzor period. After the conquest of the city by the Christian army the Mosque became Cathedral and occupied several warehouses due to the enlargement of the Caliph Al-Hakam II for liturgical celebrations. Later on, the existing transept of the Cathedral was built.
It will not leave you indifferent. Secondly, we will walk along the well-known Jewish Quarter, where we get to know the Synagogue, the Souk of the Craftsmen and the Monument to Maimonides.

With a long planned trip to the wonder that is the Mezquita in Cordoba we felt an investment in a private tour would help do justice to this wonderful piece of history. We picked ArtenCordoba perhaps more through luck rather than judgement - simply based on it appearing high up on the google search ranking. Pat on the back to whoever at ArtenCordoba does their search engine optimisation work. Following the initial enquiry all arrangements made via email. We had a number of clarifications which were fully provided - never quite sure if we were engaging with a bot or human, if the former another well-done. Payment process through a secure portal so no concerns there. Pre visit arrangements well handled but we must say that the tour itself was absolutely excellent and worth every euro. We met our guide, Fatima, at 10:00 as arranged without problem. What a credit Fatima is to ArtenCordoba. Absolutely brilliant guide, very engaging, spoke excellent English, great local knowledge and specific knowledge of the history of the Iberian Peninsula and specifically of course the history of Cordoba. Plus judged the pace well, and at no time did we feel , as is the real benefit of the personal private tour for just two people, that we were being route marched round. Our tour covered both a walk past the alcazar, down to the royal stables, touching on patios and through La juderia before entering the Mezquita. Lots of insights and things, even having read guidebooks / internet articles, that we would never have picked up on. Likewise within the stunning environs of the Mezquita itself Fatima highlighted many aspects that we may well have missed completely, plus as with our external walk Fatima was happy to answer all the questions that we had. The tour ended within the Mezquita leaving us as much time as we wanted to wander round again, take photos, or just sit in awe of our surroundings. All in all a fantastic experience. So a huge thank you to Fatima, and to ArtenCordoba.
What an incredible place! Our guide Patricia made it come alive and completely engaged our children. A must-see with this guide!
Spectacular view, complex history. Highly recommended! The tour guides are very knowledgeable and multilingual.
Really enjoyed the tour & guide was lovely & very informative; sadly I don’t have her name as we arrived late at the meeting point! The confirmation on Trip Advisor gave us the wrong meet address for some reason? Otherwise we enjoyed the experience
Highly recommended. Guide was great
This IS A CAN’T MISS in Cordoba! The cathedral is amazing, extremely historical and beautiful. The information given is a bit complicated. But, we had perhaps the BEST guide ever! Maria is clear and very easy to follow with the many details. She has clearly studied and is perfect for this tour. Maria was also helpful to us and other guests with particular needs. Well done!
Awesome experience! Our tour guides were SO knowledgeable and gave GREAT information about the sites we visited. Highly recommend!
Saray was a fantastic guide. She was passionate and knowledgeable and fun. We had a small group for the first part in the historic section and then the group was larger for the mosque and cathedral. The guide was great at keeping us together. We were lucky that the mosque/cathedral was not crowded so it was an enjoyable tour. It is probably one of the most incredible places I’ve ever been.
This was a brilliant tour. The Mosque/Cathedral is stunning and our guide was excellent. Very good value for money. The communication system worked very well.
If you are visiting the mosque of Cordoba I highly suggest doing it with a guide. Our guide, Mr. Salamanca, was very knowledgeable and gave us so much more information than what we already knew. We felt our experience was enriched with the guided tour and very worthwhile.
We were sent the wrong meeting point for our tour by Viator, resulting in our missing this prebooked tour of Cordoba completely.
Wonderful tour guide, Saray, is on top of her history of Cordoba. She imparted depth and breadth that far exceeded my expectations. With so much history to cover, she focused on the muslim/catholic church/mosque beginnings, modifications and present day status. Fascinating part of Cordoba.
The tour went well. The tour guide ensured that all were in place before proceeding. The guide provided us with much information.
Anna was an excellent tour guide. She was extremely knowledgeable and a funnel of information. She was very welcoming and open to questions. The Cathedral/Mosque and Jewish Quarter were very interesting and we were amazed at how old the Cathedral/Mosque is.
The guided tour was amazing. Our guide Jose did an outstanding job explaining the city and the architecture, especially the Catedral/Mezquita. He is a wealth of knowledge as he intellectually put into perspective matching architecture and history of this amazing city. Highly recommend guided tour.
Fatima was an excellent guide. Friendly, passionate and very knowledgeable. She clearly loves her city and the Mesquita
Loved this tour, there is so much history and the tour guide did a wonderful job of walking us through the eras of this historic monument.
Our guide Fatima was passionate and knowledgeable. I learnt so much from this tour, she answered everyone’s questions confidently and spoke very good English.
Amazing guide—learned so much and also had fun. I definitely would have missed so many important elements of the Cathedral if I didn’t have this guide. She was super knowledgable, made sure to keep us in the shade when we were outside, and was super engaging. Definitely recommend!
We enjoyed our trip through the Cathedral Mosque which is a must see if you are in this part of Spain. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and didn’t overload us with detail but highlighted the significant points. The tour through some of the Jewish quarter was a good addition but not the highlight of the tour.
The tour was fabulous, very informative. Guide was local lady, knowledgeable and engaging. Just an extra clarification, despite the tour title, this is no longer a mosque. It is a Catholic Church. Both religions have built and modified the building and it beautifully merges the two styles but is no longer functioning as a mosque.
We are very disappointed by the quality of the service. We arrived at the meeting point on time and found no one there. After waiting several minutes, we tried to reach all the contacts mentioned, but no one answered. The next day, we managed to come across a guide from this company in town, who confirmed that there was indeed a problem with our tickets concerning the name of the meeting point. This gentleman assured us that we would be reimbursed for this error on their part. It's been over two months now, and despite repeated reminders, we've had no response.
Maria was our terrific tour guide. She was witty, charming, and shared a wealth of information. She navigated our group of 30 to areas that were less congested so that we could clearly hear her through our headsets. I would highly recommend this tour.
Very interesting. Both guides were knowledgeable and enthusiastic. These were special places. Unfortunately the synagogue was closed for repairs. I appreciate that the guide waited for us before starting the tour. The taxi had taken us to the wrong starting point.
Very informative and enjoyable. We had two guides, one for Jewish quarter and one for mosque and both were excellent. Time well spent.
Emilio was fantastic! Really enjoyed that part of the tour (Jewish quarter). The pace of the mosque tour was quite slow, and not as interesting to us. The tour was also quite a bit longer than advertised, which impacted plans for the rest of the day.
This tour is one of the most amazing visits I’ve ever experienced. I’m a lover of culture and spiritual traditions so this was a surprising delight. Our tour guide Marie is very knowledgeable combined with a nice personality. Truly enjoyed this. One drawback was the wheelchair accessibility is a bit difficult.
We went to the appointed time and place and no tour guide. The information of the meeting point was incorrect.
This was a beautifully orchestrated tour. Maria was a wealth of knowledge about the Jewish quarter and the Mosque. She shared a thorugh history about both. The sites were absolutely breathtaking and very emotional. Would definitely recommend this tour on your next visit to Cordoba.
Alvoro was a charming and knowledgeable guide who made our visit very special. Normally visits to cathedrals and historic buildings can be quite dry but Alvaro enlightened us in a very enjoyable way and made me want to know more about the fascinating history of this site.
Excellent experience, Maria the guide show a lot knowledge of the Mezquita Catedral and the Juderia.
Very knowledgeable guide but a lot of information and facts to take in for the average tourist. I felt it could be more interactive. Group very large but individual headphones were super.
Alvaro was amazing tour guide. He was very knowledgeable, relatable and fun. He captured the rich history of this monument so well in the short time we had. We really enjoyed his tour. We highly recommend Alvaro.
A comprehensive tour of the Jewish quarter / Mosque cathedral in Cordoba. Our guide was very knowledgable and friendly. Brought the history to life.
Wonderful experience. The guide, Enrique, was so knowledgeable and his ability to convey that knowledge was outstanding. We learned, and enjoyed, our experience, about the Jewish quarter, the mosque, and the cathedral, in Cordova. Well worth it!
Very good tour guide. And was Informative, personable, excellent presenter. She injected some humor and engaged the group. My wife and I thought she covered a lot of material so her knowledge was very impressive. We enjoyed tipping her accordingly for her outstanding job.
We traveled to Cordoba from Seville by train. Journey is nice and suggest you go on the slower train , remember to enjoy the journey as destination you know.
12 years ago I came to Cordoba and visited the sites on my own. This time we chose to get a guide and it was absolutely worth it. We got two two guides, Maria and Maria. The Jewish quarter tour to be honest is quite brief, but Maria added some local insights I hadn't been aware of. However having a guide for the Mesquita was transformative, she gave an in depth explanation with historical context and was clearly very knowledgeable. I would reconsider going without a guide after today's experience because Maria's passion and knowledge added much to the experience.
This tour was amazing and our guide Sarah was an archaeologist. She was obviously passionate and very knowledgeable about the subject while sprinkling in the appropriate dose of humor. She also always made sure we got in the best position as a group to hear what she was saying. The Mosque Cathedral is one of the most exquisite and fascinating sites I’ve ever seen. As soon as you walk in you are consumed by its vastness and immediately in awe. The Jewish quarter was also good to see and learn about as well.
The tour guide was excellent. The place stunning!!! It was an excellent tour. Will recommend it for sure
Our guide was fantastic! Unfortunately I cannot remember his name but he spoke Spanish, English and Italian- at least. He walked us through the complicated history of Córdoba and the mosque/cathedal. Well worth it!
This was the Mezquita and Jewish Quarter tour.Maria was a very engaging and knowledgeable guide. She brought life into the past and her sense of humour was infectious. It was a very interesting and stimulating experience.
very knowledgeable, informative with great communication skills. I would highly recommend Alvaro Salamanca to anyone looking for a tour guide in Cordoba.
Loved Patricia! She made the tour fun as well as entertaining . She had so much knowledge about the mosque and the quarters. We really liked it. Will recommend and Patricia was great!
This tour is absolutely amazing and the tour guides are very knowledgeable and entertaining. Fortunately, the walk is all flat. I would strongly recommend this tour as an introduction to Cordova
This experience was a highlight of our trip. The mosque-cathedral was amazing and doing it as a tour made all the difference. Would highly recommend doing this particular tour - very informative and enjoyable.
The Mezquita was fabulous and so interesting to tour. I really appreciated the knowledge and friendless of our two guides, both of whom were easy to understand in English. They provided interesting context and history about the area and the locations we visited. (I also appreciated Maria's tip for where to acquire less expensive drinks, which we needed later!) The tour did run quite long (longer than anticipated), and I had wished for just a little more brevity inside the Mezquita, especially because there weren't very many places to sit while we were touring.
We really loved this tour - the Mosque/Cathedral was a spectacular building and our guide was very knowledgeable and interesting.
We had difficult finding the group with the directions we were given but once we found the tour guide we were glad we did. Excellent tour.
