This building was a palace, a fortress, the residence of Isabella I of Castille and Fernando II of Aragon, a prison, it has been declared a Cultural Interest Heritage in 1931 and part of World Heritage by UNESCO in 1994. The architectural ensemble has a sober character in its exterior and splendid in its interior, with the magnificent gardens and courtyards that maintain a Mudéjar inspiration.
The Monument to Lovers in Córdoba represents the enduring love story of Ibn Zaydun and Wallada bint al-Mustakfi, prominent figures from Andalusian history. Featuring a statue with two hands, it's a captivating cultural site and a highlight of our tour.
It´s a complex network of little streets located in the Historic Center of Córdoba, northeast of the Mezquita
The Maimónides Statue in Córdoba, Spain, honors the influential philosopher and physician Moses Maimonides. This statue celebrates his significant contributions to medieval thought and medicine, making it a notable cultural landmark in the city.
The Córdoba Synagogue, built in 1315, is a historic monument in the Jewish Quarter of Córdoba, Spain. It's one of the best-preserved medieval synagogues in Spain, showcasing beautiful Mudejar-style decorations. Despite its small size, the synagogue's cultural and historical significance makes it a must-visit attraction in Córdoba. We will visit the synagogue whenever possible. Sometimes, long lines form on the narrow street leading to the synagogue, causing significant delays. The synagogue is closed all day on Mondays and in the afternoons on Sundays and holidays. If we are unable to visit inside, which usually takes about 5 minutes, we will explain the monument from the outside. The Córdoba synagogue is a very small building with limited interior space.
The Chapel of San Bartolomé in Córdoba, Spain, is a historic chapel known for its beautiful Mudejar architecture. Dating back to the 14th century, it features intricate details and is located in the heart of the city's old quarter, attracting visitors interested in exploring Córdoba's rich religious and architectural heritage.
The Municipal Souk in Córdoba, located in a 16th-century mansion formerly owned by the Armenta family, features local crafts such as Cordoban leather, filigree silverwork, and ceramics. Occasionally, a local guitar player adds to the ambiance, enhancing the cultural experience of this historic marketplace in Córdoba's old town.
Mohamed Al-Gafequi, an Andalusian physician born in Córdoba in 1126, was renowned for his expertise in ophthalmology during the medieval era. He made significant advancements in cataract surgery, refining techniques that had a lasting impact on the field. Al-Gafequi's contributions extended to detailed studies of eye anatomy and diseases, marking him as a pivotal figure in the history of medicine and ophthalmology.
The Faculty of Philosophy and Letters in Córdoba, Spain, is housed in the historic building that was once the Hospital del Cardenal Salazar. Over time, it transitioned from a medical institution to become a center for higher education. Since its establishment in 1971 as a University College under the University of Seville, and later as a Faculty in the newly formed University of Córdoba in 1973, the building has been a significant educational and cultural landmark. It underwent expansions and renovations in the 1990s to accommodate new academic programs such as Art History, Humanities, and later Translation and Interpretation. Today, it stands as a blend of historical architecture and modern academic facilities, contributing to the academic legacy of Córdoba.
At firt it was the Visigoth Basilica of San Vicente, then it used to be a mosque and then a Christian Cathedral. It is one of the most interesting buildings in the world.

The ruins are very interesting and still surprisingly intact in much of the site. Our guide Pilar was very knowledgeable about the history of the site and specific aspects of it.
This tour was great and really informative. We really learned a lot about the history of the Mezquita and how it has transformed over time across the different eras. Unlike some other tours I did in Spain, this one was worth the money.
We enjoyed this very thorough tour of some of the highlights of Cordoba. Our guide, Paki, was excellent and we learned a lot while having fun!
Paki was one of the best guides we’ve ever had. Incredibly knowledgeable, great stories, and brought everything to life. Just enough time at each site and she engaged everyone on the tour in some way. Highly recommend.
This was one of the best sightseeing experiences we have ever had in our lives. The place was amazing. Also the guide was great as well. Her knowledge of the place was great too.
A very indepth history of Cordoba and visits to the sites which featured strongly in that history. Our guide Raffa was very informative and a caring guide who looked after us very well
The tour was great, a lot of history and we had the most amazing english tour guide. She was so funny and made everything so interesting, even for the kids.
Absolutely superb experience, marvellous sites , incredible history. A must do if your in Cordoba, Maria was my guide for the Alcazar which was incredible, she was knowledgeable and such a great guide. The second part of my tour was with Paki for the Mesquit of Cordoba, the Mosque and she was equally great. Very knowledgeable and her explanation of the history was brilliant. Both spoke English well and woukd definitely recommend . The communication on the day of the tour from them was excellent
Our tour guide Paqui could not have been better. We found her easily at the designated meeting place. Her knowledge of history was vast, and she was very engaging and brought the history of the sites we visited to life. We would thoroughly recommend this tour and especially Paqui. I believe she is also fluent in French.
Paki was in incredible guide to see these amazing sites in Cordoba! Might be my favorite tour of our 10 days in Spain. She was a very knowledgeable guide and a true historian about the subject matter. In addition, Paki presented it all with a lot of humor, which helps since a 4 hour tour could get to be an information overload or boring if presented dryly as only a set of historical facts. Instead, she interjected stories and humor to make it all super interesting!
The size and beauty of the Alcázar. The guide was very easy to understand and explained the history which was interesting.
Isabella our guide must have had an off day. 1. She didn't introduce herself - there were only 4 in our entire tour. 2. She seemed very uninterested in the groups experience, she was just going through the motions. She kept saying I'll tell you later - well later never came 3. When we did ask questions she was 10 feet ahead of us and didn't hear us most of the time. 4. We rushed to the Mosque just to wait for another group of 6 to meet up with our group to continue the tour. 5. She then repeated 30% of what she told us b4 combining goups. Thankfully the Mosque was so beautiful it made up for the unfortunate experience we had with Isabella. I would book another tour if I knew uninterested she was in her job.
A wonderful experience - Saray was lovely, extremely knowledgeable & so passionate - a perfect guide! We strongly recommend this trip.
Great information from guide. Friendly and helpful staff helped me prepare for arrival with tips and suggestions. The tour itself was informative, thorough. It is an intensive tour so prepared for 3 hours of touring, walking and standing.
Enjoyed the small group structure & had two guides - both were excellent. The tie was an hour too long for my attention span- 4 hours total. I wish I had booked the Mezquita seperstely to do the history justice. I ended up pairing off with our daughter to see it on our own after too much information overload of 3 hours prior. My husband loved the Mezqita tour.
Our guide Paqui was brilliant. The best that i have had the privelige to interact with during all the tours taken by me in Valencia, Alhambra or Seville, Cordoba. Her extensive knowledge, the wealth of information and her ability to communicate and keep us engrossed for over 4 hours was remarkable. I highly recommend the tour for all visitors to Cordoba, truly interested in unravelling its unique history! THANK YOU!.
Very pleasant tour. This is the minimum that you have to see in this beautiful town. Very good and pleasant tour guide. Thanks
Our wonderful, knowledgeable and experienced guide gave us the best tor we have been on. The mosque was so incredibly unique and overwhelmingly beautiful. Or tour was 3 and 1/2 hours! Well worth it !
This Mosque is the most impressive thing I saw while in Spain. It's old and beautiful. Don't miss it if you enjoy history.
It was the best guided tour of all the ones we had in Southern Spain (we did at least one in every city/historical site). Paki was an excellent story teller and her passion in history came through throughout the tour. It was fascinating how history developed and repeated itself in different times and places, and Paki’s humorous interpretation made it a very enjoyable experience. The places we visited on the tour were among the most amazing in Europe.
Our trip was today, 31.5.2024 at 13:00-3:30. It's 38C today. Super hot. I was dreading this trip with my 9yr old daughter. However, despite the heat the tour was amazing. Most of the tour was indoors, which helped. The architecture of these buildings helped in the cooler indoors. The tour guide was very educated in the history of this place. A true historian. It helped in keeping things interesting. My daughter is sitting next to me,and wants me to let you all know, that this trip is highly recommended....I agree.
Fantastic tour with so much history. Enjoyed that when the tour ended we were able to say in the catherldral to explore more on our own. Absolutely beautiful!
Our guide, Carmen, was very knowledgeable and managed the tour very well. It was a pleasure to learn about the history of Cordoba from her. Highly recommend this tour.
We had an amazing knowledgeable tour guide, Pica? (not sure on spelling) Was just the right amount of time in each area. If in Cordoba these sites are a must
Our tour was split across 2 guides - our second guide for the Cathedral-Mosque was superb. Very knowledgeable, answered all our questions and kept a reasonable pace. Our first guide was very different - there was a mix-up with our entry ticket time (not a big deal) but we just stood in the sun until we could enter. This mix-up also seemed to really frazzle our guide for the rest of the tour. She had interesting anecdotes but failed to pull everything together into one comprehensive story - it seemed like just random stories as we came upon things. Her facts seemed dubious at times (12 windows in the synagogue to represent the 12 tribes but there were 15 windows …) and her pronunciation made it very difficult to understand and follow (this wasn’t a Spanish accent - she would substitute consonants in words so you really had to pay attention, eg “Snape” to say snake) and often times simply didn’t know the English word (note this was sold as an English guided tour). Time management also seemed to be an issue - after the Alcazar some people asked to use the washroom and she was hesitant to let them go (but ultimately did) and then tried to rush them along. Once the group had reassembled, she rushed ahead without really waiting for everyone and was difficult to keep up. There was no other opportunity for a bathroom break or water break built in to the three hour tour - which makes me think if we hadn’t asked there would have been no break at all. Needs improvement.
Our tour guide was fabulous ... well informed and has an enjoyable personality!! She made the tour better than any other I've attended.. than you !!
Although the sites are worth seeing, especially the Alcázar gardens and the Mosque Cathedral, this small group tour was poorly organized and one of the guide’s English was not up to the task. We arrived at 10:30 but the entrance tickets for the Alcázar were at 11:00, so we had to wait. At this time there were 7 of us in the group. Once we got in, the guide, whose English was very hard to understand, spent too much time in the first few rooms, then rushed us through the gardens because she had a deadline to pick up 4 more people before we entered the Jewish Quarter. Then before entering the Mosque-Cathedral we had to wait while they added 4 more to the group, then wait for new guide (who was excellent) to arrive. So the 4 hour tour included 1 hour of waiting to access sites or integrate new tourists. I would recommend the itinerary but not this company.
Overall the experience was of the location was worth the effort but the tour guides were unprepared and failed to have their tickets in order which meant not being on time by an hour of additional waiting despite having reservations planned around our schedule so we missed out on a lot and our guide was in English but we she barely could translate properly and the skip the line concept did not matter unlike other tours
Unfortunately our tour guide for Alcázar and the Jewish quarter struggled to give the tour in English and consequently we did not get many details and historical info for these sites. Our second guide, who took us through the Mosque, spoke excellent English and this made this part of the tour informative and interesting.
This was a good quality tour with an excellent guide. We saw the key sights - although you don’t “skip the queue” at the Cathedral. A slight issue is that you have to wait at each sight as new people join the tour - so a bit of hanging about.
It was a must seen experience. Very impressive to see the different sites. The Alcazar, the Synagogue and the Mosque Cathedral
Our guide was excellent and had a wonderful sense of humòr. She was also very knowledgeable about the history of Cordoba, the Alcazar and the Cathederal/Mosque. We saw everythjng we wanted to see and never felt rushed. Our guide made the tour very special and her English, Spanish and French were excellent.
Really great guide for this three and a half hour tour. She gave us historical overview and contacts for what we were seeing. She "read the room" and scaled back on the names and dates when it was a little too much for some. She told the stories that made the great works human and personal. Then she casually pointed out an Old Town manor house and told the story of the family that built it. It happened to include the Airbnb apartment where we were staying. Well, what more can you ask for? Been traveling in the south of Spain for 2 months and this was our best guide experience.
Despite the unexpectedly horrendous weather we enjoyed the tour very much. Carmen was helpful and knowledgeable, provided just the right amount of information. The group size, pacing and the order of the sights was great, and the audio devices were very useful to listen to the tour guide even from a little further away. After the Alcazar some more people joined our group for the rest of the tour, here we lost some time as we had to wait for late arrivals but it wasn't more then 10 mins so it wasn't a huge issue. Finishing at the Mosque allowed people to stay and spend some more time there if they wanted to. The tour was absolutely worth it, we've learned so much more about the history and life in Cordoba than we would've just by visiting by ourselves.
Paki was very knowledgeable and related to all members in our group. She humanized the tour and explained things clearly so everyone could u distant why things were done.
How do you enjoy your tour of the great sites of Cordoba while it is absolutely pouring and you’re soaked? Answer: You must have Carmen as your tour guide. We were so wet, cold and our college age child rather sick, but we’d booked the tour (difficult during Semana Santa) and we were committed. Truly, we enjoyed it so much and learned so much. Carmen is VERY knowledgeable, good at moving people at a nice pace and so kind to all in our group, including a couple pushing and using a wheelchair over the narrow, cobbled roads. We definitely got our money’s worth and highly recommend it, perhaps on a drier day.
Great tour.. the guide was super knowledgeable and considerate and the price was reasonable. The tour started on time and the guide was keen to make sure the group stayed together at all times
Guide is excellent! She was very knowledgeable. Tour was fantastic. Wish we had free time in the gardens. May be able to save 10-15 min if the listening device is passed while in line to enter vs in advance of the entry line.
City is amazing, Cordoba mosque is a must see. The tour guide was nice and knowledgable. We didn’t get to see the alcazar although we paid for this bit. Were told city council closed it for an event on the day without prior notice. Our tour was at 1300 on a Sunday!!! No partial refund was offered for missing this part of the tour.
We spent almost four amazing hours with Paqui. We lucked out and there was just the two of us for the first part of the tour, joined by only two more people for the second half. One of the most informative tours we had in Andalusia!! Paqui combined her wealth of knowledge with humor, we didn’t even realize so much time passed by. We feel enriched by the experience! Muchas Gracias Paqui!!
In-depth tour. The guide was very knowledgeable and had a lot of detail to share. Started on time and the meeting spot was easily found. Enjoyed it very much.
Paci (Francesca) was an incredible guide with a deep knowledge of history and art. She was a pleasure to spend a few hours with learning about the rich history of Cordoba. highly recommend!
The sights were great! Cordoba is a cool city with rich history for sure. Our tour was a little scattered and took an hour longer than planned as we had to wait for a late guest and then a subsequent group joined midway and that took some time coordinating as well. That was unexpected to have like a tour within a tour and also the fact that we didn’t all have tickets for the locations ahead of time. It was like the tour guide was waiting for a call from her manager with a time slot for both the mosque and alcazar while we were already in progress! It felt like killing time walking around waiting for our entry times when this should have been pre- planned in my opinion. Ultimately saw everything, but we had to change our train time back to Seville due to all of the unforeseen delays and inaccurate timing of the tour….would probably not recommend due to the disorganized nature of events and especially would not do this tour if you are on a tight schedule :/
Really good, knowledgeable guide. Covered a good amount of ground. Some in our tour were not expecting to do any walking which was surprising given the name of the tour.
Very passionate guide, going into details when needed, and learning in a simple but efficient way. Thank you again
The tour was terrific. My guide was so knowledgeable and interesting. She was also very personable. She was sure to include everyone in conversations and answered all questions.
We were very lucky to have Elena as our guide. Her knowledge of the subject, attention to the details, ability to address any question, and perfect English skills made this tour truly unforgettable. The organization and the timing were perfect. We highly recommend this tour.
Excellent tour, knowledgeable guides. The only room for improvement is to better clarify the meeting point and not yell at me for 5 minutes non-stop for missing it (it wasn't written in the instructions and guide told me it changed 2 weeks ago from where Google sends you.)
We really liked the guide and the team but there were a couple of issues. First and foremost in the tour “ticket to synagogue” was explicitly mentioned but we disn’t visit it brcause it was closed on sundays. So I think this is really unprofessional to sell something that is not available in practice. I may ask for refund on that ticket although it may not be very expensive, the company should be clear about what they are offering. Also I think the tour could be more organized and had good stops for taking photos. we stopped some places but I think we missed very beautiful spots as well and in the end we had extra time for no use.
