Alcazar closed for renovations but gardens open. Had to enter by the usual QR code. This did not work for us or another couple entering. The staff stood around like lemons. We couldnt get in , got no help a d so we left as did anotger couple not with us. For goodness sake have an alternative to these QR codes. How does an elderly person find their way through all this ridiculous technology.
The gardens were very pretty and the history behind them and the surrounding are very interesting. Sergio was informative and a great tour guide. We enjoyed ourselves, a great way to cover the core elements of the old town, and to skip the queues.
Fascinating experience our guide Jamie was absolutely fabulous. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Spain. We enjoyed this more than the Alumbra
Be aware. The Alcazar is CLOSED for refurbishment. Instead they take you to the Medina (entrance 3 euros). The gardens are partially closed. 5 out of the 6 ornamental lakes are drained. Entry to the gardens is free. The company pretend they weren't aware but the building has been fenced off for many weeks and isn't due to reopen this month. Viator also claim not to know. Don't book this trip until the buildings are open.
Thank you so much for this incredible tour! We absolutely loved our tour guide!!! She was extremely knowledgeable and quite funny and we learned so much about the rich history and culture. We so appreciate this Tour.!!!!
Tour was well organized tour guide was excellent and very knowledgeable. The organization at the beginning was also very efficient.
Can easily do it on your own because the explanation time was about 30 minutes. Better for two group to meet the guide in the same place not in separate places.
Gardens were lovely. The alcazar itself had mosaics which were interesting but the gardens were the best part of the tour.
An interesting tour conducted by our knowledgeable female guide. The gardens are beautiful and definitely the highlight. The tour was well organised and we only had about 12 in the group, nevertheless the audio worked well and we could hear our guide even when at the rear. We only booked the Alcazar and gardens so at the end of the tour we could wander around the gardens at our leisure. For many in the tour, this was just the first part before moving on the the Mosque and the Jewish quarter. Something to bear in mind is if you do the full tour you won't have time to soak up the beautiful surrounds as the tour only has a finite amount of time in the Alcazar.
The tour was at its best discussing the Roman and Moorish origins of the area. The most impressive visual of the tour were the outside gardens.Beautiful gardens. There's very little of any castle to see. Where the tour fell short was in discussing the inquisition. Our tour guide Enrique told us Jews converted to Christianity to "solve their problem" and discussed the inquisition being a response to water thrown out the window to land on a rich person.
Beautiful gardens and an impressive building. Very informative about the history of the people in the region. Sunning views from the towers, but not for the faint hearted! Worth a visit.
We thought Jose was an excellent tour guide. He did not gloss over the Inquisition and this wad important to us because we are Jewish. He was very informative and engaging.
Our visit lasted only 45 min for a $28 CAN fee per person which is quite expensive...not a lot to see in this site and few informations given...better advice to see Vinao palace...so disappointing and expensive visit for the price...
Having visited a number of Romanesque and medieval structures there really wasn't anything special about this place. The mosaics, which were transplants from elsewhere, are slightly interesting but nothing special. If you're tight on time and you miss this, you really haven't missed much
A small number tour with a sensible guide who knew their facts and presented them well. TOP TIP: Arrive early and there are a couple of cafes round the corner from the ticket office with decent coffee and loo. There are loos in the garden but towrds the end of trip.No refreshments available in gardens
Sonia was a great and knowledgeable guide. We had a great time and learned a lot. She was an excellent tour guide. I truly recommend her
The website said this was an English tour but once I booked the ticket it said Spanish. I contacted to confirm the situation but received no reply. We entered with the tour tickets anyway. The towers closed before we could enter them.
The tour was well-organised, with friendly staff available to point you in the right direction and headsets provided to help hear the tour guide in a bustling noisy crowd. Our guide, Azahara, was very kind and attentive. I really liked the Roman depictions of the Greek myths and the gardens modelled on Islamic design principles. Given that the Alcazar does not have as much in the way of artefacts as other monuments, it is definitely worth taking a tour like this to learn more about it's history
Excellent overview of the entire complex and the opportunity to stay after the tour to explore additional attractions
Christina was a wonderful tour guide. You could hear the love of the history of Córdoba. I think without her we would have missed so much of the history of Cordoba Alcazar.
Our guide was Edu. He was inspiring. He's done the tours many times but his enthusiasm really shone through. He loves the place. Very knowledgeable & always taking care of any lost members of the group.
It is a beautiful garden and also there are historical artefacts inside the building. It has a history since the Roman times. The tour guide also had a good sense of humour.
Tour guide was great. He was engaging and gave us a good history lesson! He kept all of our attention for the full hour. Ticket redemption process for the tour was a bit confusing.
Christina was an excellent guide. We really enjoyed our tour and learned a lot about El Alcazar of Cordoba.
Cordoba Tickets Scam ! Do not book the Córdoba Alcazar palace tickets in advance with Córdoba Tickets! They do not show up. I have tried writing emails and calling them they ignore you. The tour guide did not bother to show up at the Alcazar palace in Córdoba for the tour at 1pm on the 28 April. We were left waiting and stranded there for an hour and a half and had to queue again for another hour to buy new tickets to get in. I was with my elderly mother in the sunshine for two hours. They took 34euros from us I think they are a scam. By the way if you are over 75 your ticket is 9 euros also! So not 15! I hope to warn other tourists not to book with Cordoba tickets. Just queue to buy tickets for the Alcazar palace there and then on the day there’s no need to buy in advance and there is no need to have a guide like they push you to do online. That’s all nonsense too!
Very informative and a lot of fun. Enjoyed learning the stories about the various mosaics which were in excellent shape.
It s only possible to tour the Alcazar with a guided tour. I HIGHLY recommend OWAY tours. Our guide, Elena, was extremely knowledgeable and had a genuine enthusiasm for the monument and Cordoba history. The tour was excellent, easy, and very affordable. I would use OWAY again in the future.
I learned so much history from Elena, I was lucky that I was the only one on the tour so got to learn and ask lots of questions. Elena is a great guide with a lot of passion for her work. She was also good fun to spend time with
Tour was only in Spanish even though the tour said English was available. The tour operator talked so fast you could hardly understand him.
Very good tour. Tour guide was very informative. Would recommend to others. What a beautiful place, Not to be missed.
Having just been to Granada and Sevilla this was disappointing for what you can see. The guide was not exceptional so the whole tour had a slightly boring effect. Within the Palace we actually only saw one room.
It is definitely not worth the money spent on the guide. Although it would be incomplete without the history the guide gave us. But overall charges too high.
Great tour. Wonderful information. A place with a lot of history. Highly recommend the tour. A must see place.
We came by train from Seville to Cordoba and just got to the meeting point with about 30 seconds to spare. Our guide for Alcazar ended up also doing the afternoon Mosque and Jewish Quarter tour, so we stuck together for about 3 hours. English was good, with plenty of information, but not too much. Our only issue was we had to drop out a little early because of a train to Madrid. I would definitely recommend both these tours.
Great tour, would highly recommend it. It’s a lot of information but well worth it. Our guide was very knowledgeable.
Excellent tour Extremely knowledgeable guide Nicely paced tour, never rushed No complaints to be had
It's totally worth the visit, but I suggest to pay the ticket there, is only 5 euros per person. I paid this tour, got a bit late because I had some trouble finding the entrance and just lost +30€, so I didn't did the tour and had to pay again for the tickets. 5€ per person is very inexpensive for the beauties of this place. Totally recommend.
A great experience! Our guide was wonderful! Not every place needs a tour but I recommend it for this one. We also skipped a huge line! The only downside is that we had a very hard time finding the check in place since the directions were very vague.
Loved the gardens full of many water fountains ponds and cooling old trees that have stood the test of time. The guide helped us to visualise isabella enjoying this peaceful oasis. Inside the palace is more bare but the ,exposing of past Roman foundations and the well used mistress's bath area were interesting to see. Good to see early before the big crowds and heat.
Much smaller than the Alcazar in Seville, but very important historically because of its place in the reconquest of Spain by the Christian monarchs. You need a good guide to bring this out. The building and garden are much less to look at than the Alcazar in Seville.
The guide was not very interesting, and his english so poor Too expensive compared to the entrance ticket.
The tour guide was very knowledgeable and his English was very good. He was easy to understand. He made history come alive in his presentation of historical events. I would definitely recommend this tour.
The entrance controller was an unpresentable. Take out two tickets, one of which was free because you were unemployed. He asked me for the proof and I gave him the jobless uninterrupted period (which I had downloaded unemployed the application a couple of days before) and he tells me that it is not good for him, that he needs the paper when I have to reseal. I tell him that in the application does not come out (I have the one from the Community of Madrid) and he tells me that other people from "my community" if he has given it. In front of him I enter the application and show him the days remaining to seal the next stoppage, he tells me that it does not serve him either. I send my partner to buy the ticket because he had me there apart like a criminal and in the meantime I have downloaded the report of the registration periods and that has earned him. What a fabric, I must have had a very bad day because it was an edge and a nasty. It's one thing to do your job well, which seems normal to me, and another to overzealous. Fatal. The place itself is nice, especially the gardens, but lackluster being the fountains without water.
L’endroit est magique mais il est recommandé d’avoir un ticket « coupe files » car il est très fréquenté. Guide espagnole compétente parlant un bon français.
be careful my tour was June 3 At 1:00 I arrived at 12:30, waiting for the guide with a blue umbrella. NOBODY SHOWS UP call his number and send text messages! unanswered They responded to me at 1:18 demanding we rise!!! My day trip was destroyed but no refund, horrible experience.
In reality, there is not much of a monument, the gardens are magnificent, there are many of them, although I recommend taking a sunny day. Admission is free but reservations must be made due to crowding.
A place that is worth it. Climbing the towers at dusk and watching the sun set over the river and gardens is a unique spectacle.
The place is beautiful. Nothing to say. But I wonder how you can put the last entry at 2.00 pm if they then come to throw you out at 2.30 pm (and I'm not exaggerating, they escort you right outside). Among other things in a more than arrogant way. Place rating 10, staff rating -10
Buena experiencia. Buen guia y buena organización. El lugar con mucha historia. Sus jardines muy bonitos y bien cuidados. Es un de las vistas imprescindibles si vas a Córdoba.
