Itinerary
We begin at Copenhagen Central Station, a historic and bustling hub that connects the city. Let’s dive into its story and set the tone for our exploration.
We cross the Øresund Bridge by train – Sit back and enjoy the smooth, comfortable and almost silent 40-minute ride from Copenhagen to Malmö. The modern train takes us across the impressive Øresund Bridge, linking Denmark and Sweden with stunning views of the strait. Your train ticket is included in the tour price.
The Knotted Gun (Non-Violence Sculpture), One of Malmö’s most iconic landmarks, located outside the central station. This powerful bronze sculpture shows a revolver with its barrel tied in a knot, symbolizing peace and non-violence. Created by Swedish artist Carl Fredrik Reuterswärd, it has become a global icon with versions displayed in cities around the world. The Malmö sculpture is a reminder of Sweden’s commitment to peace and dialogue.
Malmöhus Castle (Malmöhus Slott) – We will pass by Scandinavia’s oldest preserved Renaissance castle, built by the Danish king Christian III in the 1500s. Once a royal residence and fortress, later a prison, today it houses Malmö Museum with exhibitions on history, art, and natural science. Surrounded by a moat and green parks, the castle is one of Malmö’s most important landmarks and a must-see from the outside.
A classic Dutch-style windmill set inside leafy Slottsparken, a short walk from Malmöhus Castle and the organic Slottsträdgården. We pause here for a short story about Malmö’s canals, fortress and garden culture, plus a relaxed photo stop with the mill, bridges and water as backdrop.
We take a walk through Malmö’s beautiful Slottsparken, a green oasis surrounding the old castle. With its canals, bridges, and lush gardens, the park is a favorite spot for both locals and visitors. It’s the perfect place to enjoy nature while discovering the city’s history.
At the heart of Malmö lies Stortorget, the city’s grand main square from the 16th century. Surrounded by historic buildings, including Malmö City Hall, it has long been the center of public life. Today, it’s a lively meeting point where history, architecture, and local culture come together.
This charming cobblestone square is one of Malmö’s most beloved spots. Dating back to the late 1500s, it’s surrounded by well-preserved half-timbered houses and filled with cafés, bars, and restaurants. A vibrant place where history meets the city’s modern social life.
We end the tour with a cozy Swedish fika at Ruths café close by Lilla Torg, where coffee and a pastry are included in the price. Guests who wish to stay in Malmö will receive their train tickets in hand, while those returning to Copenhagen travel back together with the host.

★★★★★ An Exceptional Malmö Experience with Matihesse – Highly Recommended! Our trip to Malmö was an absolutely wonderful experience, and a huge part of that was thanks to our fantastic guide, Matihesse! From the very beginning, Matihesse was welcoming, friendly, professional, and genuinely passionate about sharing the beauty, history, and culture of Malmö. His knowledge of the city was impressive, and he had a wonderful way of explaining everything through interesting stories, historical facts, and local insights that made the experience both educational and entertaining. What really stood out was his ability to make the tour feel personal rather than simply following a standard sightseeing itinerary. He was engaging, approachable, and attentive, making sure everyone felt comfortable, included, and able to enjoy the experience at their own pace. He was also happy to answer questions and share recommendations, which added a lot of value to our visit. The tour was beautifully paced, allowing us to appreciate Malmö’s charming streets, architecture, atmosphere, and unique character without ever feeling rushed. His enthusiasm was contagious, and it was clear that he genuinely cared about making the experience memorable for his guests. What could have been an ordinary day trip turned into one of the highlights of our travels. It’s rare to come across a guide who combines professionalism, knowledge, warmth, and such a genuine passion for what they do. I would wholeheartedly recommend Matihesse to anyone visiting Malmö. Thank you, Matihesse, for your kindness, dedication, and for making our time in Malmö so enjoyable and memorable. We truly appreciated the experience and couldn’t have asked for a better guide! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

A half-day trip to Malmo was the perfect addition to our Copenhagen visit. Our guide Martin may have been a stranger at the beginning, but quickly made us feel like we were traveling with a knowledgeable friend. The stop for coffee & a pastry was a definite highlight. Highly recommend!
The tour with Martin was very interesting and funny. We heard a lot about the history of Malmö and saw very old buildings and houses. We also enjoyed the break with the Fika. A & T
Martin was awesome! This was my first time in Sweden, and it was wonderful.
This tour was a great mix of culture and knowledge. Our guide, Martin, was very professional, personable, & knowledgeable. The tour was just the right amount of time to get back to Copenhagen for lunch. I highly recommend this tour.
Great trip to Sweden. Martin was a good guide and was good at showing us around!

Alex is a great guide. Very knowledgeable about both the Swedish and danish history of Malmo. Very personable too!
Great tour guide and wonderful communicator. Would definitely recommend to people to ask for Alex. He was mindful to a family we were with that had an infant. Our family enjoyed it.
Had a great trip. It wasn’t that too long nor too short, and the guide was very friendly and relatable.
Alex was wonderful. he helped us navigate the train station as we were running late. Our group was built of two booking groups and we all connected great and we ended up going to lunch together after the guide was officially over. He was kind and informative and the pace was perfect. It felt casual and comfortable but still on task
The tour guide was very friendly and accommodating to our group.
Morten was an absolute delight. He made our trip feel personal. Everything went as planned. From having the tickets to Malmö ready at the start of the tour to the coffee and cake break (fikkapus) in Malmö. Morten was great!
If you are looking for the perfect way to experience Sweden from Denmark, look no further than a tour with Martin. From the moment we met him at Copenhagen Central Station, we knew we were in for a fantastic day. Navigating the train ride across the iconic Øresund Bridge was seamless and stress-free with Martin leading the way. What could have been just a standard transit link became one of the highlights of the trip, thanks to his incredible personality. He is exceptionally warm, welcoming, and genuinely funny, keeping our entire group laughing and engaged with his great sense of humor and sharp local insights. Once we arrived in Malmö, Martin brought the city to life. He guided us expertly through the charming, colorful streets of Gamla Väster, shared fascinating history, and capped it all off by introducing us to the wonderful Swedish tradition of fika. Martin didn't just show us the sights; he made us feel like we were exploring a new country with an old friend. His energy is infectious, and his passion for storytelling is unmatched. I cannot recommend him highly enough—if you get the chance to book a tour with Martin, do it!
This was a great half day tour from Copenhagen to Malmo! We enjoyed getting to know Martin and learning about Malmo during our walk through town.

Excellent tour with Alex - relaxed, informative and timely. Would recommend to any or all looking for a delightful day trip from Copenhagen.
Very enjoyable trip with our host Martin who was very knowledgable and helpful.
This tour was fantastic. We were spending a few days in Copenhagen, and wanted to experience Malmo and Sweden as part of the trip as well. This was the perfect excursion to do so—very efficient, informative and educational. Malmo’s key sights (parks, town squares) are covered in such a way that you can enjoy the tour without having to worry about directions or schedules. I especially appreciated the break we had partway through the tour for coffee, tea and pastries in a Swedish garden.
Easy to find meeting spot, great history and information covered.
As a solo traveler I did enjoy all the Malmo highlights despite of rain it was still interesting tour
Great tour of Malmo from Copenhagen! Our guide, Martin, met us at the train station in Copenhagen and took care of all of the tickets and logistics…made it super easy. He was very knowledgeable and shared great stories about Denmark’s historical relationship with Sweden. We had the option to ride back with Martin, but decided to stay longer and explore Malmo so more on our own. Additionally, since Martin showed us the ropes for using the train, we went on to visit Lund, Sweden on our own…only about 15min by train from Malmo. Beautiful town, definitely worth visiting. Many thanks to Martin for a great experience!!
Alex was a tremendous guide. Extremely knowledgeable and charming. We learned so much and had a phenomenal time. Would 100% recommend!
It’s been a PERFECT tour to Malmo, thanks to Alex who is a well prepared, friendly and kind guy. You woils never find a better guide!
Absolutely loved Malmo. It's a short train ride to a beautiful quaint city in Sweden. Easy to walk around. Alex was a great guide and easy to talk to. Highly recommend. Great way to spend a day.
The guides were very knowledgeable and the pace was fine.
The Malmo tour guide was Alex - he 's half Danish and half Swedish which is perfect. Alex was warm, funny, knowledgeable and inclusive. He gave us some interesting background and history on the train there, and then took us on the walking tour. This was at a comfortable pace and covered a wide variety of interesting buildings, squares etc. The coffee and pastries stop was excellent. I felt able to ask Alex other questions I had about Danish life, customs etc. I thoroughly enjoyed the trip. Thank you Alex :)
Good information good paced walking and Fika x 2
Martin was very friendly and shared much history of Denmark and Sweden - it was also good that the tour already included the train tickets and coffee and snack

I wanted to see Malmo while my husband visits 2 museums in Copenhagen. This tour with Michael was perfect. He was very friendly and very knowledgeable of the history between Denmark and Sweden. It was a perfect introduction as I decided to stay after the tour.
Morten, the guide, is very knowledgeable and has a fun personality. All places are well selected and provide a good balance of historical and modern. You are free to stay on in Malmo and visit more places such as the craft and design centre, the museums and restaurants. You just catch the train back when you are ready. Michael the company founder came with us and he was friendly and genuinely interested in all guests. Highly recommended.
