Itinerary
If you are going to get to the heart of hygge, you need to go back in time. We begin our Hygge & Happiness tour near the characteristic yellow houses of Nyboder, a famed local district. Here you’ll meet and greet your native guide and your group for the day. Your native guide is a bona fide Copenhagener who is super excited to share their knowledge of Danish culture with you, as well as local historical secrets that you won’t find in any guidebooks! And because our tours are for small groups only, your guide has plenty of time to answer
Your tour takes you through the oldest parts of the city, where you experience hidden gems in the form of cobblestone-filled streets, timber-framed houses, and green refuges of calm amongst the urban sprawl. Krusemyntegade is one of the cobblestone-filled streets that just scream hygge with that old world charm. It’s a great example of how hyggelig our city can be if you just take the time to wander.
This Copenhagen walking tour is not just about seeing the city’s greatest hits but tasting them too! So, get ready to get all of your senses tingling as we sample some Danish delights. World-renowned pastries is one of these delights and they indeed hold a very special place in us natives hearts. Let us give you a peak into the charm and the taste of Danish childhood and even adulthood that bring Copenhageners so much joy every single week. It’s the perfect way to kick off the morning in a leisurely way.
Let’s ditch the urban sprawl together and escape into a beautiful green haven, The Kings Garden. Here take in the spectacular beauty and calm in the midst of the busy historical inner city. As you wander, hear the dramatic story of how the once-royal park came to be one of the first public parks in the world (Hint: It include former kings with delusions of grandeur and mental insanity and inappropriate love triangles!).
Take in the spectacular views of Copenhagen’s miniature castle, Rosenborg. From outside the castle, tune into the castles secrets and hear about King Christian IV who build it back in the 17th century and his ingenious ideas about this damn cute castle!
Take a detour from the urban sprawl and find a refuge of calm and wander into a tucked-away alleyway with that fantastic old world charm. Sit down and enjoy the quiet atmosphere and bond with your group, as your native guide take out the Danish flødeboller for you to sample. Before taking your first bite, don’t forget to tune in as your guide tell you everything about this fantastic delicious treat and how it really play into Danish hygge culture from a very young age.
Notice the shift from the tucked-away gems your guide is showing you and how the stress changes as you walk from them on one of Europe's most busy pedestrian streets.
We want to escape the busy streets though, so we’ll take a de-route into a quiet cobble-stone filled square. Here your guide will let you stretch your neck all the way back to admire the spire throning on top of what seem to be a church, but not all is what it seems in Copenhagen today. Here your guide will share Copenhageners views of religion from outside the church and tell you how this plays into our culture as well even today! While you grab a picture of this neck-breaking building, your guide will just run into a store next door
The palace serves as the Danish parliament today, so here we will stop to tell you all the secrets about Danish politics, the mind-boggling Danish welfare system and the weird Danish cultural law of Jante. A two-tiered system that provide Danes with a very high degree of trust, which have helped us earn the title as some of the happiest people in the world pretty consistently for years. Find out why, as you guide will unravel how these concepts play into Danish happiness and maybe pick up some hacks for your own.
On the way back from Christiansborg Castle, your guide will show you one of Copenhagen's cutest streets, Magstræde. Here you will really find that old world charm and hear about a place that really connects people in Denmark and where hygge can really be found.
We conclude our Hygge & Happiness portion in one of Copenhagen’s best and most cute cafés located on a quiet street in the city centre, where you’ll experience hygge in its purest form. Here we will indulge in a cup of liquid joy and your native guide will give you your sustainable, slice of Copenhagen as a souvenir to remember your time here in our wonderful city. This is also the time for recommendations, so please feel free to ask your guide for any help or assistance you might need. We would be happy to help.

Brilliant tour with Amit What an interesting and informative fella Good value for money and lots of cultural treats and free snacks along the way Splendid, fully recommended
We had a fabulous hygge tour today with Oskar and a lovely family of 5. Oskar was very friendly and knowledgeable. We felt that we got to know the real Copenhagen and saw parts of it that we probably wouldn't have found by ourselves. The tour included 2 cafe stops and a chocolate shop stop, what lovely treats! It was great to be part of a small group tour, especially as the rest of the group were really friendly. I would thoroughly recommend the tour, and particularly Oscar, he was a great guide.
What a wonderful experience with Theresa as our guide. She knew so much about the city and was so proud of her city as well. Taught us the Hygge culture and walked us around the city at a very good pace. Probably walked a mostly flat surface for about 10000 steps. Several stops made it easy and it was easy to keep up.
We had an excellent tour of Copenhagen with our guide, Oskar P. Oskar did a great job showing us the highlights of the city. He's a local and a history major so was able to answer all of our questions (of which there were many!) We highly recommend this tour if you want to see Copenhagen, including some sites that are lesser known.
What a delightful tour! Michelle was an excellent guide, taking us to unique sites in Copenhagen. She provided great information about Hygge and Danish culture along with delicious treats. We thoroughly enjoyed this tour.
Amit was a great tour guide. Loved getting various tid bits of information about Denmark. Extremely interesting tour. Would highly recommend, but it is a lot of walking standing so be prepared.
Although this is marketed as a Hyggi tour/experience,it is so much more than that.Oskar delves it the history of Copenhagen and Denmark as well as literature.Oskar has amazing knowledge and is friendly, enthusiastic and very willing to share his knowledge. My wife and I rated this as one of the best tours that we have been on.
A fascinating insight into Danish culture and the concept of hygge. Michelle was such a wonderful guide. We learned a great deal and were kept thoroughly entertained because of her extensive knowledge and wonderful storytelling skills. Michelle was easy to talk to, answered all our questions and made us feel very comfortable. The walk was a comfortable pace and the stops for treats and drinks were much appreciated. Thank you Michelle, your tour was a highlight of our Copenhagen stay and a fantastic orientation to the city and Danish history and culture.
Thank you so much for a great tour, giving our International audience a local insiders knowledge on the concept of Hygge whilst exploring the city. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it!
Fantastic tour—history, culture, modern life, snacks and refreshments—all with Michelle who was wonderful!! She shared stories about life in Denmark, school, holidays and more. Loved this tour!!
Had a great small intimate tour with Oscar and it felt like taking a walk with a local friend. Sat down for pastries, got some interesting tidbits of info and it was really nice.

Great experience - we had a very knowledgeable guide with a lot of insider tips about Copenhagen to share!
We had a relaxing and authentic walk through Copenhagen with Michelle. Her English was great, it was nice and informational, the kids loved it as well. The treats were nice and it felt like a personal and authentic experience where Michelle was genuinely interested.
What a wonderful way to see Copenhagen! Isabella was a phenomenal tour guide, knowledgeable, funny, personable, answered all of our questions. We learned so much about Copenhagen history and architecture, ate delicious treats, and walked away fully experiencing the Hygge of this lovely city. Thank you, Isabella!!
We thoroughly enjoyed our tour today with Jacob. He is very knowledgeable and friendly which made it easy to ask questions. The pace was just right for us, and we liked stopping to hear background about the various sites. We also learned a lot about Danish/Copenhagen customs.
Fantastic walking tour of Copenhagen with informative commentary and treats. This well-paced tour covers a lot of ground in 3 hours, including lesser-known facts about well-known sites and some hidden gems. In addition to the sites, we visited a bakery and a cafe for refreshments, and enjoyed a treat in a park. Our guide was a delight and very knowledgeable. The tour group size was small, which added to the whole experience. We were able to hear and engage with our guide as well as each other. We were inspired to revisit several of the places covered. We came away with an appreciation for Hygge! Highly recommend.
It is a very good tour of the city highlights and not a lot of dates (just enough if u are not a history buff) Fun and you were able to taste a few of the danish sweets. We liked our tour guide Michelle
We had a wonderful time on our tour. Our guide, Isabella, was knowledgeable and friendly. We enjoyed her stories and conversation. My entire family would highly recommend this tour to get to know Copenhagen’s history and we highly recommend asking for Isabella to be your guide.
I cannot recommend this tour enough! Amit, our host, was fantastic. So welcoming and deeply passionate about sharing Danish history and culture. It felt less like a rigid tour and more like exploring hidden corners of the capital with a highly knowledgeable friend. We learned a ton about the local language and people, enjoyed some amazing local treats along the way, and left with an awesome list of post-tour recommendations to maximize the rest of our trip. 10/10 experience!
My husband and I went on a private Hygge and Happiness Tour. Therese, our guide arrived promptly to our meeting location and gave us a wonderful overview of the Danish people and culture. She was extremely patient since I move at a slower pace and need breaks. She made sure there were benches to sit on and let me walk at my pace so I wouldn’t get stressed. I really liked Mie and Friends. My reservation was handled promptly and correctly and all of my concerns and questions were answered. The stops made gave us an overview of Danish life and we learned so much while sampling the fika and drinks. I enthusiastically recommend Mie and Friends, particularly if anyone has any mobility problems.
Our tour guide Isabella was fantastic. She took us all over the city and explained the history of the area. She also kindly tolerated all of our questions. We tasted delicious pastries and desserts we wouldn’t have found on our own and loved learning about Danish history and culture. Take the tour and ask for Isabella!
This is an interesting and informative way to experience lovely parts of Copenhagen. Our guide was terrific and we’d highly recommend this tour.
Good tour Friendly guide Fnjoyed
Therese was an amazing guide! I would definitely recommend this tour for a comprehensive guide of Copenhagen!
Isabella was a great tour guide. She really knows the area and provided some nice cultural insights. It was a very relaxing walk with some key stops and surprises along the way.
We had a wonderful time wandering through Copenhagen with our tour guide Michelle. We experienced tasting traditional Danish food, we now know alot more about Danish history and how people like live, work and play in Copenhagen. It makes such a difference having a local showing you around, I would highly recommend Michelle as your tour guide.
Amazing tour guide Amit...would recommend highly Very knowledgable and showed us parts of Copenhagen we would not have seen on our own
Amazing tour guide. Isabella was very knowledgeable about Danish history and as a local to us to places we would have never found. Worth the money and time.
My family and I enjoyed our tour with Amit! The pace was pleasant, and we appreciated getting to learn snippets about Denmark's history and culture. The pastries and coffee were a delicious bonus. My sister and I made a point of getting a frosnapper again when we had the chance! We also liked that our tour group was smaller - just 8 or so - as it allowed us to chat with each other and Amit in a relaxed manner. This tour is a great way to get oriented to Copenhagen, so I recommend doing it early in your trip.
Our guide was Kenneth and we can't say enough good about our tour. He was so knowledgeable about history, architecture, food, culture, just everything. He lived out "Hygge" in the way he conducted the tour and made this a very hygge experience for us. We were especially blessed to see the changing of the guard soldiers on their way to the Amelienborg Castle and to be at the castle grounds the day of the certification of the new government by the king. What a treat. Our experience with Copenhagen By Mie & Friends could not have been more positive. They do other tours and I wish we'd had the time to experience them.
Isabella was a phenomenal guide. Informative, sincere and thoughtful, she shared a tremendous volume of information about Danish culture & hostory in an accessible and entertaining manner. Furthermore, she treated us to some culinary delights - far more than anticipated!

We had a double treat, two guides for 9 people. Michelle and Caroline gave us an excellent experience and by the end of the tour we were feeling the hygge! There were 3 food stops that were great. Length of the tour was perfect
Excellent experience with Amit. He was engaging, funny and very entertaining. Five hours went by in a flash. Highly recommend. And learned a lot about Copenhagen.
The Hygge Happiness Tour was well worth it! Our guide, Amit, was incredible. We spent three hours exploring Copenhagen on foot, seeing beautiful sights and walking along historic cobblestone streets. The snacks and coffee were a nice bonus, too. If you’ve got the time and the stamina for a good walk, definitely give this tour a try! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Amit was excellent, very knowledgeable.
Great tour! We learned a lot about the Danish culture. The small group made it easy to ask questions and the tour had the feeling of taking a walk with a friend in her neighborhood.
Our guide, Isabella, was wonderful! She set a pace that worked for our small group (only five: a couple and three solo travelers) and gave us lots of stories and information about the areas we walked through. We learned about Denmark and life there as a student. All in all, a delightful morning. Highly recommend. Of course, the sunny day helped, too
The “Good morning Copenhagen Feel the Danish Hygge & Happiness” tour was very enjoyable. Amit was very informative and was open to answering any questions anyone had. Was a small group of 8 and we walked to many interesting places and enjoyed 2 coffees and 2 pastries. Was a nice way to see Copenhagen and learn a bit about the buildings and the history.
Great tour with Amit. Very knowledgeable and great recommendations. Very hygge.
We had an amazing tour with Amit. He’s extremely knowledgeable about everything Danish. We learned a lot and look forward to using what we learned during the remainder of our stay.
