We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The moment we stepped into the calm and welcoming entryway, we felt relaxed. The hotel clearly aims to create a spa-like atmosphere, and it succeeds, with a peaceful ambiance throughout the property. Our room was spacious, clean, and quiet, with plenty of storage, a comfortable seating area, and two TVs, making it a great place to unwind after sightseeing. We appreciated the thoughtful extras, including robes, toothbrushes, toothpaste, reusable makeup remover wipes, and in-room coffee and tea with milk provided. They also provided extra personal products to use in addition to the standard soap and shampoo. The ceiling fan and small welcome gifts were also lovely touches. The location was excellent, and while we didn't have time to use the spa, we regret missing it. The only minor drawbacks were the small sink, which splashed easily, and the bathtub/shower setup, which was a bit awkward to use and made it difficult to keep the floor dry. They also had diffusers in room - I'm typically highly sensitive to fragrances but was not affected. Overall, the attention to detail, relaxing atmosphere, and guest-focused amenities made this a memorable stay, and we would happily recommend it.

Axel Guldsmeden is a wonderful little hotel extremely close to the Central Train Station in Copenhagen and close enough to walk to all the neighborhoods in the city! My adult daughter and I shared a small twin room and even though it was listed as small, it still was a decent size for the two of us and the bathroom was a very nice size. We were very pleased with our room! The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and we would definitely stay here again and heartily recommend it to others!
Absolutely disappointing stay here earlier this week. Having been to copenhagen prior, there are far better establishments at a similar price point. There were a littany of issues but I will share the most pertinent to our stay. Firstly, the "shower" bathtub was incredibly strange. It was apparently designed so the entire bathroom would flood without recourse. There was also mold behind the tub in incredibly difficult locations to access to clean. Secondly prior to checkout, it was noted that the elevator was out of order. Without any recourse or offers of aid(or timetable for repair), we had to take our heavy bags down flights of precarious stairs. Not what I expected from a four star hotel at this price point. Last point, at night the surroundings of the hotel were full of rather unseemly folk. A physical altercation between them occured right in front of us. No fault of the hotels, but there are so many more beautiful Copenhagen neighborhoods to stay in that avoid this scenario. Utterly disappointed and I felt shame that I booked this for my family.
It’s very frustrating finding reviews that rate boutique hotels based on aesthetics only to be burned every time you experience their mediocrity. You can easily find a slightly higher priced hotel for a much better experience. I’m not a picky traveller but for some reason, this particular experience was frustrating due to the incongruence of ratings vs. experience. Overall, this hotel was just ok, if you’re travelling as a couple, the basic rooms are extremely small for the price (relative to other hotels in the area). They get warm in the summer and there’s no fans or aircon. We upgraded to the superior double which was also just ok. It’s bigger and more spacious with a ceiling fan but the bathroom is kind of meh. It’s a bathtub with open layout so you basically get water all over the floor without a holder to take a proper shower using the shower handle. As earlier mentioned, this is a place that is very instagrammable but is overall meh. The lobby, courtyard, and main areas look like a lush, and beautiful common space. But compared to similar price points, it’s not that great. If you just want a pretty backdrop for a coffee in the common areas, it looks nice enough, but if you actually want a quiet night's sleep and a functional room, look elsewhere. We did not use the spa so cannot comment on it.
My partner and I stayed here for a week on a bussiness trip. The hotel itself was nice, although a bit pricey for the area. We did enjoy the eco-theme (recycled towels, toilet paper, and even a shower that recycles water). The breakfast was decent as well, and we enjoyed the farm to table concept. However, we did feel as though the staff members were not welcoming. When we arrived on our first day, the only info we were given was where our hotel room was. No information regarding breakfast, the restaurant, the bar, or the spa was given. We actually had to go back to the front desk to get a key for the spa that the receptionist failed to provide. For a hotel of this price, we were expecting at least somewhat polite receptionists. Overall opinion: Save your money and stay somewhere else. If you are really wanting to stay at a Guldsmeden hotel, we would recommend Manon Les Suites where the staff is incredibly kind and welcoming.
