Excellent bar & lovely food! Been to this pub many times over the years. Lovely indoor & outdoor setting. Dog friendly too. Really enjoy the JW Lees drinks on offer. The House Original Lager is nice but the Manchester Craft Lager is particularly good!! The food is great here. Stopped in recently with family on the Sunday for a roast, then decided to pop back mid week for the Prix Fixe menu , which includes 2 courses for £17.95 or 3 courses for £19.95. We both had the chef’s special 3 meat pie (turkey, ham, & steak), absolutely delicious!!! & finished off with the baked apple crumble & the summer fruits mess. All absolutely delicious! Service is excellent & friendly too. Definitely recommend!

Called in for an evening meal and it was an entirely satisfactory chain-pub affair. I had the steak and ale pie which was really meaty and my wife had the sea bass which she enjoyed. Food was reasonably priced although the wine seemed pricey at around £10 a glass for the good stuff (it was good!). Service was friendly and efficient and it has great views from the conservatory area at the back. Worth a visit.
A massive thank you to Elise at Groes Inn for her fantastic service, from arrival to departure. Nothing was too much trouble. The hotel team seemed a happy bunch, which is always a good sign. Our mountain view room was in a lovely location looking out across farmland, although the décor was a little tired. A few repairs and refresh would easily put this right. Food quality was generally great. The highlight was a perfect, cooked breakfast - which was served to your table. The lamb rump, which we both chose at dinner, was below average - very tasty but tough in parts - 'though the accompanying vegetables were perfect and beautifully served. The apple crumble dessert was dreamy.
Good range of food and drinks. Able to adapt dishes to suit dietary needs. Service very good but they do get very busy in the summer months, now they have a larger outdoor seating area, so some people did complain about having a long wait, but we were happy to wait for homecooked food. Lovely conservatory with vines running through it and wonderful views. Steak was supposed to come with onion rings and didn't, but that might have been because one of us had dietary needs and they were playing it safe by not giving them to either of us. Very nice Mushroom Toast starter though
The Groes Inn set high standards and hit every single one during my recent visit. Finding a spot that genuinely welcomes dogs without compromising on the quality of the food or service can be a gamble, but this place gets it spot on. The team was exceptionally warm, welcoming, and efficient right from the start, making sure both I and my dog were comfortable. As for the meal, the herb-roasted chicken breast was cooked to perfection—tender, wonderfully seasoned, and full of flavor. I rounded things off with the baked apple crumble, which came served with both hot custard and vanilla ice cream. It was pure comfort on a plate, rich and beautifully executed. An incredible meal, top-tier hospitality, and a genuinely dog-friendly atmosphere. I’ll definitely be coming back!
