Wicked West: Historical Walking Adventure In Downtown Denver

The weather was great and the tour guide, Josh, was exemplary. He is so personable and willing to gear the tour as best he can to his customers. His historical knowledge is superior—I couldn’t believe all the interesting updated things he told me (I was the only customer and yet he didn’t cancel.). The tour is a very easy pace with stops along the way for treats and restroom breaks. We discussed other tours he does like his ghost tours. I can hardly wait to return and book it. Again I can’t say enough about Josh. He’s probably the best tour guide I’ve ever had, and I’ve been on tons of tours in lots of cities so if you get the chance, book a Denver tour with Josh. You won’t be disappointed.

After 31 years, Josh showed us an entirely new area we didn’t know about! Superior! Alley ways and all about the “Ladies of the Night”.

We had the best time in Denver with Josh. He told us great stories, showed us many fascinating sites which we would have never found on our own and we laughed and explored the town. I now feel welcome in Denver and able to build upon our adventures in the future. He was so enjoyable and fun! He kept a good pace and made accommodations for us when needed. As a museum professional, I know how hard it can be to straddle the line between entertainment and correct history. This tour did a beautiful job! Engaging guide, fun stops, depth of knowledge. Josh even dug through the archives to double check facts. Had an absolutely wonderful time. It felt like hanging out with an old, knowledgable friend. Perfect single serving friend experience. If you are looking for an engaging introduction to the wild wild west of Lodi, this is the tour for you. Our guide Josh was delightful, professional and energetic. He brought the stories of people and events of the late 1800s and early 1900s to life. We also learned about the growth and development of Denver as well as some interesting architectural facts. It was a wonderful way to spend 2.5 hours and we highly recommend!

I unexpectedly had some free time during my trip and decided to book a walking tour since I had never been to Denver before. I was surprised when I showed up and was the only one on the tour (it is the off season and a Tuesday). I could not believe that Josh did not cancel the tour and I told him that it was fine to cancel. But he told me that he loved doing these tours and he was happy to do a solo one for me. That was the beginning of a completely fascinating two and a half hours that we spent walking the streets of downtown Denver. Josh entertained me with one interesting story after another, and the time flew by. His love for the city was apparent as well as his sense of humor. I highly recommend this tour for anyone who wants to learn more about Denver and likes listening to stories while seeing all the sights on foot. If I get the chance to come back with my family or friends, we will definitely be doing this tour together!

Our tour guide Josh was as charismatic and knowledgeable as any that we've come across. His passion for Denver history is evident in every story and we learned a lot about the city's seedy past as the wickedest city in the west. We even made an unscheduled stop at a cocktail bar for some drinks, and Josh was more than accommodating to us. A must try if you're in the LoDo neighborhood of Denver!!

2 hours of great stories and the history of this part of Denver was perfect I should have done this tour first but I waited until my last day in town. Huge mistake on my part. I could have explored many places in this area before I flew home.

I have done walking tours all over the world and this was one of the best! So much so my 12 year old son said to me half way through, “Josh is funny and this is the best walking tour you’ve made me do.” Josh gives the history of the city, the real places to visit and it’s all mixed with humor and fantastic storytelling. Highly recommend. I now want to come back on my own for the ghost tour!!!
