We had a great time on our anniversary. The actors were engaging and fun, the mystery was thoughtfully prepared, and the food was good (not exceptional). My husband even won the prize for solving the murder! Bonus! I loved the website, being able to take photos and everyone read the clues in detail was great!

Itinerary
At The Dinner Detective, you’ll tackle a hilarious and challenging crime while you feast on a fantastic dinner. Just beware! The culprit is hiding in plain sight somewhere in the room, and you may find yourself as a Prime Suspect before you know it! Our engaging and unique murder mystery dinner theatre performances have been playing across the country since 2004. Our show is very different from traditional murder mystery dinner shows. We will hide non-costumed actors in the audience that are pretending to be part of the crowd. This results in a much more social and interactive evening than with other shows. Our shows are set during the present day and take place in real time. Over the course of the night, our costumed Detectives will uncover clues, interrogate audience members that may or may not be part of the show, and help everyone get closer to solving the mystery.

Fantastic. Can't split with detailed description but if you like crime shows!!!! This
What a fabulous experience! Very engaging from the start. Actors and hosts kept the show moving while still allowing time to interact with the people at our table.
Loved it. Great show tons of fun with friends. See you again, highly recommend 10/10
Boring, overpriced. No need for it to be so expensive.
Our party of eight celebrated a birthday at the Dinner Detective I really had no expectations, which is always advisable when you don't want to be disappointed. From what I surmise, is the Dinner Detective is a franchise that is provided murder mystery scripts from the parent company, then contracts with a hotel for room/catering, and hires local "talent". The performers were friendly, the script was "corny, and we had fun because we made it fun. It was an amateur production with the actors wearing their street clothes. No costumes or props/sets in the room just, eight round tables in a hotel event space. The food was edible, the service was poor but we didn't come to "eat" so we just accepted that part of the evening. Unfortunately three people in our party became ill about 8-9 hours later. I did voice concerns but they assured me that they did everything right (held food at right temperatures, didn't serve expired food) but did state the "protein" was cooked the day before and made a point to state the salad was made fresh that day. (this explains why you cant change what you order). While i give them credit for stating the meals were cooked the day belore, it definitely left a bad taste in my mouth.
A fun and unique experience for a big group of people. Be open to be very social with complete strangers.
Great show! Just don't cime for the meal and meal service. My family and I had a wonderful time and really enjoyed interacting with the other guests. The show and the actors were funny and had us laughing and putting on our detective hats. HOWEVER, I'm glad I wasn't hungry because the chicken that was served was basically inedible. Overcooked to the point where I felt like I was chewing on chicken jerky. Meal service not great either, they came three times with the wrong entree ordered, and we basically just got up and found more salad dressing after waiting for much too long for it to be brought to the table
This was a very disappointing experience. The food was not good. Members in our group that had the chicken couldn't even cut through it. The acting was at a high school level. I would not recommend spending money on attending this event.
The staff was great, service was fantastic, food was classic “conference”, the entertainment was perfect!! Well timed comedy, hoppin story line, cool technology to share clues, and great mystery!! Well done! Selma Kayak and Queenie Ratchett can’t wait to try to solve the mystery again!!
The clues were clever and the food was good. Having the "mystery" in a hotel banquet room was a little of a let down. The interaction of the actors with the guests was fun.
The actors were great. Had an amazing time with great people and great atmosphere would definitely recommend and coming back
Awesome actors and great atmosphere. Great night out, everyone is just fun and funny. Thanks for a great time. Laquisha
I had a fantastic time at The Dinner Detective True Crime Murder Show on 24 May 2025. My tablemates—Chillin Dillon, Cam O’Flage, Smokey the Bear, and Leroooooy Jenkins—added to the fun with lively conversation and collaborative sleuthing as we worked to solve the case. The cast delivered an outstanding performance, making the evening both entertaining and immersive. I’m looking forward to experiencing another scenario in the future.
Interaction with characters was very spirited and spontaneous. Fun and entertaining. Great way to meet fellow travelers
I found this on line, but didn't see anything in the lobby of our hotel. Maybe I just missed it, but think hotel guests might enjoy this entertainment if there was an ad in the lobby or something.
Amazing. The actors were great. It was interactive from start to finish. 10/10 will go again! The food was good, but the story line, and interacting with everyone was the best!
Absolutely great! Funny and really kept you interested the whole time! Highly recommend for a couple or a family event!
The set up was amazing with all involved! The actors and coordinators did an amazing job getting this all together. The food was absolutely amazing. We did the Hollywood hit
My wife and I were looking for a fun experience in Denver this weekend, and when I read about the Dinner Detective, I knew that this was it. It was a blast, the hosts were amazing, and the process/performers were extremely engaging, as were the couples at our table. We'll definitely be doing this again!
High energy actors, lots of fun! Enough clues to solve the crime!! Good food and very nice staff. The location is convenient.
This was a fun show. Cast was great and the dinner was good. Would definitely recommend this show. It had a lot of twists and turns.
none..my son left..I had to leave with him..my other half had to leave cause Im on a wheelchair so my sons best friend had to leave..Still they wanted $35 tip for actors...terrible...asked receptionist about if we had to wait they would come and get us..She only said rest rooms to left..drinks to right...Sad food. what I had was terrible and gave it to my son's best friend..no dirnks except water. would not recommend it to anyone!!!!!
Unfortunately it was nothing like I expected. Color me very disappointed. It was two women walking around a small brightly lite banquet room yelling non scripted kind of semi humorous banter to a room of 8, 10 person banquet tables set up in the round. We could barely hear anything they were saying because of the acoustics, people talking and no microphones. I didn't like having to use my phone to try and get clues. My husband isn't savvy with his phone and kept having problems to where he stopped trying to play along. It was very obvious that the gentleman sitting at our table was a part of the show because he kept leaving the room after every act. The food, well it was food. It wasnt great but it wasnt disgusting either. It took 30 years for me to afford this experience, paid a lot of money and walked away very disappointed.
The food was less than average. The actors while comical were amateurish in performance. The cost vs what was delivered was not a good value.
The murder mystery was a hoot! The “interrogations” at our table were hilarious and interesting! Really enjoyed our dinner companions!
Had a great time amazing actors and very interactive. Food was also very well prepared. I had a fun time with the guests around us as well!!!
The set up is really great- everyone is close to the action. The main actors were fantastic… funny, engaging show that also fosters great discussion at the tables. Worked perfectly for our three generation group!! Highly recommend!
Fun to enjoy dinner while solving a morder mystery dinner!! Very entertaining and talented crew. We liked the pork better than the chicken
It was fun and surprising. They put on a great show! I loved the detectives ability to adapt to the audience!
Such a great host! The other actors/facilitators were amazing, too. Food was good. I hope to do another one soon.
It was amazing, truly outstanding performance and experience with even better food. I would recommend for anyone looking for a good time.
Great show. Had a good time. Will do it again. I recommend going to this. Everyone was entertaining.
This was a very fun and interactive event. Would highly recommend. Good location, fun characters. The mystery was tough to figure out, but fun.
Was really interactive and fun. The staff really involved all of the team during the event. Will be back
We had so much fun on our girls weekend! Dinner was good! Actors were great! So glad we end up going.
Food was great, experience over all was fun! Would do it again!can’t believe the actors were sitting at my table, totally believable!
We used the Dinner Detectives to host a fundraising murder mystery dinner and it was wonderful. They were professional, easy to work with, and all of our guests had a great time! I can't stress enough how easy it was to plan the event. They have templates, suggestions, and do just about everything but sell tickets for you. They replied to all of my questions right away and I went to the event confident that it would go smoothly - and I wasn't disappointed. It was a fun event, we had lots of laughs, and raised a lot of money. I would definitely recommend The Dinner Detective to anyone looking for a fun event.
Actors were fun and in character from the beginning. Clues were a bit hard to understand and follow with. Absolutely consider whether you want rated R or PG prior, can get a bit edgy but such a blast! I would certainly consider having them at a personal venue or another event location. Wasn't thrilled with Embassy food, but Dinner Detective was Great!
Super fun time! Great way to celebrate my fiancé 30th birthday! She love crime shows, so what better way to celebrate!
It’s hard for me to give a bad review but it was also hard to sit thru this event. So many things they need to improve on. First is signage when you arrive at the hotel. No one knew where to go including the hotel staff. Turns out it was the second floor. Second was the introduction of the evening made no sense. They want you to talk to people in the room to figure out who the murderer was. There was no murder yet so??? There was no plot or any reasoning for any murder. They just jump in like we knew what was going on telling you to scan the QR for hints that absolutely made no sense. Maybe if the actors in the crowd would talk to people it would have made more sense it they didn’t want to be bothered either. It was a very awkward evening of mostly silence, people bored and on their cell phones waiting for the event to be over. The food was terrible but that is not their fault so I’m not rating them on that. I think the director should attend some other DMM to see how good they could be and how to layout a plot and involve the crowd. We knew quickly who the murderer was going to be but they never connected them to the plot. This was by far the worst one we ever attended.
