Royal Gorge Full Day Trip

Our guide, Bundy, made the whole trip fun and exciting. He took care of us and made sure we all had a great experience. Other rafting companies that we saw on the river had trouble getting their rafts stuck and people fell out but not with Performance thank goodness!

I don’t think I could put into words how amazing this team truly is. They took the best care of us! Stu was our guide and personally I think he’s the coolest guy ever! What an experience and I’d do it with this team again any day of the week!

This was my first time going on a rafting trip and my friends and I had an absolute blast going through the Royal Gorge. Ashley was our guide and she was very patient with us throughout the entire day considering this was our first time doing this. In addition, she was really fun to talk to and very knowledgeable about the environment around us whether it be the fauna, animals or history of the land. I am very excited to come back and hopefully try another rafting trip with this company again.

Performance tours was a blast! Kurt took us white water rafting on a full day trip. Rapids levels 1, 2, and 3. This was our first white water rafting experience - as a nervous mother of 2 boys 10 & 13 (not helicopter nervous, but wear your helmet and stay out of the street nervous) Kurt was calm and funny and always let us know what was up ahead. Guide for 25+ years in CO, he even did guided tours in an off season in Patagonia. Choose local! And ask to meet sweet sweet Mabel(dog). The lunch was also fantastic and fresh. Was a great time - looking forward to going again in a few years when the boys get older to try out rougher rapids. Our utmost thanks Kurt for putting up with us!

We had Chef/Driver/Guide/Historian Ian. It was a blast of an adventure. Ian was fun, positive, knowledgeable, and super helpful with getting us through the day. Great experience!

Great experience with great guides. Lunch that was provided for our full day trip was more than enough. Going through the gorge had amazing views and awesome rapids.

This was hands down the highlight of our vacation! James is an incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and professional guide. I can't recommend this enough as either a day trip with the family, or part of a longer stay. :)

Performance Tours is absolutely the way to go! We had the best full day rafting experience through the Gorge with Brice. Paddling class IIIs half the day and then the thrilling class IVs in the afternoon. The lunch spread on the river between sessions (hand curated by Road Runner) was also quite delightful! Our safety kayaker, Josh, was also awesome. This entire team takes care of their rafters and Brice was the perfect combination for an authentic experience- safe, fun, knowledgeable, and encouraging to everyone to be one with the river. We will be back next year!

We had the best time with Brice as our guide! The full day Gorge experience was amazing, from the first half of the day with class IIIs, an impressive lunch spread from Road Runner, and then of course the class IVs in the afternoon— all incredible! Josh, our safety kayaker, also added to the wonderful experience. We highly recommend Performance Tours- they’re the perfect combination of safety, fun, knowledge, and being one with the river!

We are 100% happy that we booked with this company! We’re a family with older children mostly 21+ and one 16yr old and we did a full day. Our guide took us on a great route at a good pace. We passed several other companies that seemed to be doing more slow floating. Our guide Brice stopped and let us jump off a cliff also. The lunch was an impressive spread. Last time we rafted in Buena Vista, the lunch was disappointing to say the least and they ran out of food. We had more than enough to feed everyone. We had two people fall overboard and Brice quickly got us back on the raft safely with no injuries. Very thankful for him. He was very knowledgeable about the history of the area and pointed out a lot of cool stuff. They provided wetsuits and splash jackets and booties and all the safety gear. Highly recommend and would definitely book again!

A must on the TO DO List. We had 7 of us and so we took two rafts. One raft guide was Brice, and our adult kids absolutely loved him! We had James and we thought he was amazing as well. Both were super informative about the area and tons of fun. The full day rafting was amazing. We were never bored, not one bit. Lunch was fresh and fantastic. If you have the time, totally go with the full day trip - you will definitely not be disappointed!

My family and I went on a full day rafting trip through Bighorn Sheep Canyon with Performance Tours in Canon City. It was absolutely amazing. The water was at mid level and there were plenty of class II and class III rapids to enjoy. The guides, James and Bryce, are top shelf. They were both very professional, respectful, and more than happy to accommodate our needs. These guys knew there stuff too. We took our small children, ages 8 and 11, and we were concerned that they wouldn't do well but the guides quickly won them over and made them feel at ease. They had the time of their lives and they are already planning our next trip. If you want a top shelf trip at an affordable price, these are they guys that you want. I would highly recommend them and will definitely use them again in the future.

Performance Tours is the only way to go. True professionals and a great time. We are "experienced" rafters, rafting different rivers in different states our travels take us. Peformance Tours outshines other rafting experiences we have had. We took the full day Big Horn Sheep and Royal Gorge Trip. It trip was more personalized with a small crew and a van to move people and boats- not school buses full of people. The lunch provided was a great FRESH spread with lots of options, not a brown sack lunch tossed at you. ( The fresh cut veggies cut by our rafting guide was a nice touch). The crew were all exceptional, focused on safety and ensuring a positive pleasant experience. It was a fabulous day on the Arkansas River- Thank you Peformance Tours.

Wow! If you’re looking for a company that is small and personal this is it!! Scooter was our guide and she was so knowledgeable and kind! She knew the River so we’ll and the whole trip was entertaining because of the facts she shared with us…we felt very safe with our 11 year old riding along and not having any experience because of Scooter’s extensive water experiences! The ride down the river was perfect and we hit all the right spots…the lunch spread was delicious and full of fresh fruit and yummy sandwiches!! Hats off to this crew for such a fantastic experience!! Don’t hesitate to book with this company…they’re all so sweet and kind!!

Had a great experience with Performance Tours! Our raft guide Josh was incredible as well, seamlessly guiding us through each rapid and providing entertainment along the way. Highly recommend the full day trip so you get a little time to warm up and float before the class IV rapids in the afternoon.

Awesome full day Royal Gorge trip with family and PJ and Joe as guides. Could not have any better guides, they are the best! The Gorge has awesome views, the weather was perfect and it was a day we won't forget. We were provided lunch with the full day and I was expecting a cold cut sandwich but it was so much more! Our driver did a great job of shopping and PJ and Joe created an unbelievable spread. It goes by so fast, definitely recommend the full day trips!

What a fantastic first Whitewater trip for my kids to experience. Everything was so organized from registration online to filling out waivers ahead of time, to the information provided and help upon arrival. Im not 100% sure we were the royal gorge full day or another full day option. Our daughter recently turned 4 and just met the age requirements for the class/class 2 full day trip so that is what we did. PJ was our guide and was simply top class every step of the way. We were the only family doing this full day trip and had a lot fo the river to ourselves and got to experience a personalized tour with PJ. He expertly steered the raft when he wante to point things out or when we spotted wildlife like a whitetail fawn by the river, a large male mule deer with a huge antler rack, or an osprey that flew from tree limb to tree limb as we went through a lower canyon. Lunch in downtown Salida was a lot of fun, what a cool little town! PJ again went above and beyond with a delicious spread for lunch, something for everyone and not just meat and cheese but fresh vegetables, hummus horseradish etc, he made sure we didnt go hungry! Pj deftly guided the raft so as to meet the kids desire to catch some whitewater as well at times too. Cannot say enough good things about PJ and Adventure Tours. Our kids now cannot wait to go rafting again which is perhaps the best thing of all. We hope to be back!

The Royal Gorge full day raft trip with Performance Tours was amazing. Breathtaking views and great rapids. Guide Drew has many years experience and fun stories. They also took great care at lunch to accommodate my friend with a couple allergies which was good to see. I recommend the full day! We felt like we were just getting more comfortable with the rapids at the end of the first half of the day. The rapids on this trip were also better on the second half of the river. Great experience! Definitely recommend!

This is my second time doing the royal gorge full day trip with this company. Both times we have absolutely loved our experience!! The guides are all amazing and so knowledgeable and make the trip very fun. I love how much you feel a part of a family/community with performance tours. We are definitely loyal customers to this company and are now making plans to do the 2 day overnight rafting trip with them in buena vista.

Performance tours exceeds expectations every time that I go rafting with them! I have rafted with them 3 times now and each time is such an incredible experience. The guides are top notch! Wonderful Experience! Drew (our guide) was knowledgeable and very easy to talk to while on an all-day trip. Performance Tours didn't seem like one of the bigger companies booking rafting trips, which was nice because all of their guides have many, many years of experience and the experience feels more personalized and not like you are part of an inflatable armada going down the river. I can't say enough good things about them without boring you, the reader, to death with my repetitive praising and still feel like I've done justice to this crew, so at this point you get to decide if you trust the reviews or not :)

We enjoyed this so much last year we had to go back again. Our guide, Cheyenne, was awesome and made sure everyone had a fun time. The lunch was excellent as well. I highly recommend it.

Performance Tours was an incredible rafting company to work with! I brought 16 ladies with my women's adventure and wellness group, Wild Women Outdoors, for a full day rafting trip Browns Canyon. The guides were professional, informative and funny! We had 3 separate rafts. The check-in process during covid and the sanitation of equipment was top notch. We cannot wait to come back next year! Our family booked an all day rafting trip down the Royal Gorge. I have always placed a high value on customer service (although we rarely complain). This trip exceeded all our expectations in large part to our guide PJ. How he took interest in our entire family and shared his passion about being a guide made the trip extra memorable. He balanced each class 3/4 rapid with my kids expectation of the major thrill of dying with my wife’s fear of dying perfectly:) You may have a dozen choices on rafting companies but I guarantee you won’t be disappointed in Performance Tours. We were a group of three girlfriends who had a great full-day trip through Browns Canyon! The full-day tour is perfect for beginners like us. It’s not too much work, but still exciting with beautiful scenery! The company took necessary Covid precautions and we felt safe with the measures they had in place. Our Shiva guide Felicity is a salty broad (and I mean that in the best possible way!) she had us laughing the entire time as she expertly and safely guided us down the Arkansas River. By the end of the trip, she was an extension of our girl group! Highly recommend the full-day tour and this company.

Performance Tours in Canon City, Colorado was an incredible first time experience with white water rafting. I had checked out a few different rafting companies in the area online some being twice the cost of Performance Tours, and I can say after going through the gorge I was so happy I had chosen them over the other boats we passed on the river. We chose an all day tour and I realized how important your guide is in the whole experience. Ask for Greg, out of the three boats from Performance Tours we we're lucky to have him as our guide. He was experienced and made the ride even more thrilling by his expert menuvers, made us feel safe, and even caused us to surf on some waves...in a raft!! He even created a well put together lunch alongside the river worthy of mention. We had several class 2 and 3 rapids and a few class 4. I look forward to doing it again when the river is up. The scenery was breathtaking the entire way. I highly recommend this business and this river as a vacation destination for the adventurer and thrill seeker.

We went on the full day bighorn canyon rafting trip this summer. This was our 2nd rafting trip with Performance Tours (we did the Browns Canyon a couple of years ago). Both trips were great fun. Our twin 15 year boys loved being in the front of the raft. Cheyenne was a great guide who kept us safe and we all had a lot of fun. I would fully recommend either rafting trips with Performance Tours.

We did the all day Royal Gorge float. Joe was our guide and we felt like we were in great hands the whole time. He takes safety seriously and knows how to respond to ever-changing tricky rapids. He has a lot of knowledge about the area and the river. The lunch was way more food than we could eat - fresh and lots of choices. The Royal Gorge section gave us the adrenalin rush we wanted and the length of the trip was perfect. There truly isnt anything negative I can think of about the experience and I hope we can return next year.

Had a great adventure with Performance Tours! My high school son and I started out in Browns Canyon, not knowing exactly what we were getting into. Steve “use-less” took care of us...showing us the basics. Felt safe the entire day. He also put together a fantastic lunch for us on a rock ledge...truley impressive. Day two we tackled the Royal Gorge with Joe, also a stellar guide. This section was a bit more intense rafting wise, but we always felt safe. Thrilling rapids and unbelievable views with 1000 foot walls will make this a trip we both won’t ever forget. We’ll be back for high water!

We did the royal gorge trip and it was amazing. PJ was a fantastic guide who made sure we were safe but still had fun. He is obviously loving what he does and that makes for a great experience.
