Mile High Hauntings: Guided Ghost Tour In Downtown Denver

Fantastic tour with a great guide! I loved learning about the darker side of Denver’s history while exploring downtown. It was also a fun way to discover hidden gems and new places I’ll definitely be coming back to visit.

Josh was a true professional and a performer. He brought the ghost stories to life and made sure we had a good time! Highly recommend!

We met up with Josh at the first spooky location and found out we were the only people on the tour that night. That didn't phase Josh and he proceeded to amuse and amaze us with stories about the spooky side of Denver as we walked between several locations with breaks in hotel lobbies. The history that was part of the spooky legends was really interesting and the stories about the locations were great. Josh was very entertaining!

The guide had great information, funny, and entertaining. We went into buildings that we would have never thought to go into.

Very entertaining tour guide, who still showed up despite a very cold night. The stories are interesting local lore and peppered with personal experiences of the guide that you won't hear anywhere else. Personalized experience that is well worth an evening of your travel time.

Joshua was very knowledgeable and funny to be around for our tour. We booked as a group tour however we happened to be the only two booked, so my daughter and I got our own personal tour. Lots of fun. Would recommend to others however no small children as it is quite a bit of walking, my 16 year old was spent by the end. Haha. Cheers!!

I have lived in Denver for over 30 years and visited many locations before and after preservation. This was an accurate and informative tour. I traveled with two college students and one high school student who also grew up in Denver. We all give this tour a 5. We do the ghost tours in every major city we visit and this was by far the very best!

We weren’t sure what to expect. We got an amazing tour of Lodo that included history, ghost stories, and Insights into places we didn’t even know existed as life long Denverites! All of this with an extremely personable tour guide too!

Josh was knowledgeable, welcoming, and flexible. I was only planning about an hour for the tour however Josh allowed us to extend our experience by taking us to his favorite places. We would enjoy cocktails at different locations while Josh shared exciting history and interesting ghost stories with us. Recently had the pleasure of taking the ghost tour with Josh, alongside my mom and aunt. It was a great way to experience some of the historic sites of downtown Denver, through the interesting lens of our spookiest ghost stories. One of the things I most enjoyed about the tour was Josh’s commitment to the true stories of the past rather than the exaggerated versions they have become over time. Of course, whether the hauntings are factual or not is a matter of debate, but it is very refreshing to experience how well researched the historical side is, and the ghost side focuses on the accounts of people who have experienced the supernatural phenomena. We all had a blast on the tour and are considering doing one of Smile High’s other tours when more relatives come into town. Would definitely recommend you check it out even if your interest leans towards some of the lesser known history, or a perspective on early Denver from marginalized but impactful people, rather than the supernatural. And if you’re looking for scares and unexplained happenings there’s plenty of that too.

Josh is a great story teller and instantly contracts with people. He makes you feel like you've been best friends for years and he's showing you a great places you've never seen.

Wonderful tour! Full of Denver history. The tour guide went above and beyond shared personal expiriences as well. Multiple stops he held the door for us and took time to answer all of our questions. We spent the afternoon laughing and totally engaged. He even went above and beyond to point out great places to comeback to for meals and drinks! This tour is a must for those intruiged by the paranormal and even history buffs.

We were lucky enough to have the guided tour by ourselves. It felt like a true VIP experience. Josh was our tour guide. He was so knowledgeable and really made us feel so involved in every story. He truly painted a picture with every story He told us. we even got to experience a speakeasy that he’s been wanting to find through his guide tour and it was such an amazing time just to relax have a drink and just chat it up and ask any questions that we had. Since we were the only three, my husband, son and myself, we had a very personalized tour. Josh met us on time and exactly as arranged. We began our tour with a history of the location where we stood…Josh’s recounting was full of lively characters and gave us the context of the area at the time. We continued down Market Street and on to Union Station where we heard several chilling stories of the ghosts that have been known to haunt that location. Then on to the Oxford Hotel with a colorful cast of spirits of its own! We ended in front of a speakeasy with a story of a mother’s tragic loss. Josh added his own experiences as testimony to the manifestations of a certain elevator ghost! All very entertaining and informative, we enjoyed the 2-1/2 hours, and went away feeling like we had found an appropriate way to observe Halloween.

We booked our tour a few hours before the tour started and were the only ones so we had our own private tour! Josh was very knowledgeable and entertaining and kept a smile on his face the entire time. The weather started out terrible but we were able to stay dry until the rain stopped. If I could only make one suggestion it would be to start and stop the tour at the same place. It was our first time in Denver and we would have had a hard time getting back to where we parked. Thankfully, Josh walked us back to our starting point.

My mom and I went on a tour with Josh and absolutely loved it! It was well balanced between history, ghost tours, and fun little anecdotes. He's an amazing story teller and you can see how passionate he is about Denver and the city's history. He was also really accommodating for bathroom breaks, water stations, etc. While not relevant to the actual tour, I also loved that he knew so many people that worked at the places we visited, as well as fellow tour guides. It showed how immersed he is in the community. We'll definitely book a tour with him again next time we're in Denver!

We had a great time on our tour! Josh shared such fun details about the history of the Lodo area, the people, personalities, and cultures. And the ghosts of course. There were some true jaw dropping moments in the stories, along with a lot of laughs. Josh's tour doesn't have any kind of 'canned' feel to it, but is more like spending a fun evening with a very knowledgeable friend who is good at sharing some great historic stories about Denver.
