This hour and a half class provides the average person exposure to an ancient sport many know little about. By discussing several different types of birds–eagles, owls, hawks, and falcons–the student gains a new appreciation for the bird’s inherent abilities and the nature of predation. After discussing the birds, the hawks are flown free in the surrounding countryside. The hour lesson concludes with each student having an opportunity to put on a leather glove and hold our trained Saker Falcon.There is a licensed falconer who oversees and presents each experience. The birds engage by their own will.
Beyond expectations! Our guide Deanna was excellent not only in her knowledge of each bird of prey her personality made me feel like I had made a friend for life. The program was well thought out and there was time for questions. I have already booked the intermediate class for December when we are at the Broadmoor for Christmas!!!
This was a truly fantastic experience. We had done the beginner class in 2025 and were very eager to come back for the intermediate class where the birds flew to us and we could hold them. They were so beautiful and the slo-mo videos that Scott took during the experience were stunning. Both Deanna and Scott were so knowledgeable and friendly. I just loved this. My only regret is that there is not an advanced class!!!
As someone who has never been exposed to feathered friends up close, I found this small group experience extremely interesting and educational. Understanding the history and behaviors of the falcons and others, then getting to experience some of those behaviors in person was enjoyable and something I won’t forget. Our falconer was very knowledgeable and inclusive as was our guide. Great experience!
Deana and Scott were great guides for our experience. They were very friendly and knowledgeable about the birds. They did a great job teaching us about the birds and falconry and demonstrating what the birds could do. Highly recommend if you are interested in raptors
This is my second experience with birds of prey. Deana has been my guide twice. It was spectacular. The setting is amazing and Deana is so informative regarding the birds. The interaction with these majestic raptors was beyond my wildest dreams. Highly recommend for an authentic and educational experience.
We absolutely loved our falconry class! We learned so much about the sport and the birds. Watching Halo work was incredible. I’m so happy we got to hold a falcon at the end too. What a great experience!
Absolutely amazing experience! Really enjoyed learning about the history of falconry and the differences between all of the birds. And of course the “hawk walk” at the end was incredible. I only wish that I’d had more time to also do the intermediate class as well.

We had a fantastic adventure during our back to back beginner + intermediate falconry experience in September 2026! We ended up being the only three people in our group. We were introduced to and handled many different birds, both inside and outside at the base of the mountains. Both our trainer and driver were fantastic! But most of all the birds are majestic, beautiful and such spectacular animals! It's an experience we will treasure and hope to repeat! This experience is such a gift to yourself! I highly recommend, over and over!
It was thrilling to be in the presence of these remarkable raptors…owls, hawks, falcons. Our Falconer teacher told us many fascinating things about the extraordinary powers of these birds.

A lifelong dream experience, met all expectations! Very knowledgable and friendly staff, I would highly recommend this experience (beginner and intermediate). Learned fascinating history of falconry and learned a lot about a wide array of birds of prey. The hands on experience with the birds was exceptional.
This was one of my favorite excursions ever! It was evident that the birds were all loved and well-cared for by Deanna and Scott. We came back with a deeper education of hawks, owls, and falcons and are still raving about the experience. Everyone should try this demo. You will leave with a smile on your face.
Our group participated in the Falconry Beginner Class. It was fascinating! The birds were beautiful. Scott our group guide was extremely knowledgeable and very enjoyable to be around. The birds in the class were also great teachers, especially Iceman! It was an incredible experience. I can't think of any way to make it more enjoyable. Definitely want to go back to do the follow up class and get even more interactive with the birds!
The whole experience was terrific, thanks to Deanna, and the birds, especially Maverick, Layla, Cupid and Lance. I had so much fun flying Maverick, and the setting was perfect. Deanna is a great instructor. I learned a great deal! I should also mention Gabe, my driver. He was very helpful dealing with my disability.

My husband has always been a fan of birds of prey, so for his 75th birthday I planned a weekend at the Broadmoor and the Falconry class. I had no idea what to expect, but both of us were very impressed! It was an amazing experience with very knowledgeable guides and beautiful well trained birds.

The falconry experience was fantastic. Deana and Scott are expert falconers who clearly love what they do. So much information packed into 2 hours, I wish I had taken notes. We were a smallish group and everyone had time to get close and personal with the birds of prey. Questions were handled graciously. I would definitely do this again. Highly recommend

The Falconry Class and Demonstration was truly one of the highlights of our trip. Right from the start, we were picked up by Ty - our outgoing and friendly driver - who shared in our excitement with his enthusiasm. Ty brought us to our Falconer, Scott, who greeted us at the van with a falcon perched on his arm. Scott was extremely knowledgeable and easy to talk to. His passion and expertise made the demonstration especially memorable. It was so much more than we expected, with experiences we had not anticipated. Getting up close to these beautiful creatures was something we will always remember.

I’d heard a lot about this experience and was skeptical it could live up to the hype. However, it exceeded expectations; this was an unforgettable experience in terms of an educational experience and was nothing short of an awe-inspiring encounter with remarkable birds of prey. Scott was a stellar guide who was equally engaging for kids (12-14 year olds) and adults. Do not hesitate. Book it!

It was a solid trip. Went with my father and we had a good time with our introductory course. We learned about the birds first in an outdoor setting, then went indoors to meet a large great horned owl, and then went out to watch a falcon fly from tree branch to branch and even close passes between us. The tour culminated with us holding a falcon for a photo op. It was an overall cool trip, and the weather was absolutely perfect, however for the price (about $150 per person) I would have hoped we would have gotten to fly the birds a couple times kinda similar to my last experience. I heard the next class (intermediate) gets more of the experience I was looking forward to.

My family and I took the falconry course the other day and it was absolutely incredible! Every bird we interacted with was GORGEOUS, healthy, and impressively trained/well behaved. Words can’t even describe how much we loved our falconer Scott! He is astonishingly knowledgeable and his passion is contagious! He said hasn’t worked with the broadmoor for too long and I’ve gotta say, he is an AMAZING addition. if I don’t see him next time I visit I will be thoroughly disappointed! I threw some pretty random questions at him and he was ready for every single one! Shared more fun facts than I can count, truly the perfect guide! Wouldn’t have changed a thing! He was so great, if he’s around in the years to come I may just do this every year! I hope you’re able to let him know how much we appreciated him!

Wonderful experience! After completing the Beginner class and demonstration, we were so impressed that we booked the Intermediate session just four days later. This class offered an incredible opportunity to get up close and interact with these beautiful raptors. Master Falconer DeAnna was kind, knowledgeable, and made sure every part of the experience was memorable. The smaller class size allowed for more one‑on‑one time with each raptor—owl, hawk, and falcon—as well as plenty of time to ask additional questions. We also learned a great deal about the conservation efforts supported through Falconry. Highly recommend this unique and unforgettable experience.
My 10 year old wasn’t too excited he didn’t really understand what falconry is. After it was don’t & we left & he was talking a mile a minute about it. While on the nature hawk-walk we were with Maverick. Maverick kind of went a bit off script in the best way! I’m sure the handlers may have been nervous about it, but all of us guests were loving it! So much personality it was a beautiful experience!
We had such a memorable experience at the Hands‑On Falconry Class and Demonstration. The presentation of different falcon breeds and even owls was fascinating. Each bird had a “Top Gun”‑inspired name, which added a fun touch to the experience. Our instructor (I wish I remembered her name!) was incredibly down‑to‑earth, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about every bird she works with. Getting to the location was neat as we drove through the Broadmoor area with amazing landscaping and then boarded a comfortable van that took us to the demonstration classroom. After learning about the birds up close, the van brought us to an open park area where the hands‑on portion took place. One of the highlights was watching the instructor work with her favorite falcon, Maverick. Out of nowhere, Maverick swooped down from a tree and caught a rabbit with lightning speed. It was surreal to witness something so natural and so fast right in front of us. My two teenage boys especially loved the hands‑on part, getting to work with a different falcon while wearing the leather elbow‑length glove. It was a unique experience for all of us. Overall, the entire outing was absolutely worth it, and you won’t be disappointed. It’s a rare chance to see these incredible birds up close and learn from someone who truly loves what she does.

Great experience. Enjoyed the education on all the animals, the demonstration and especially the hawk walk. Driver, guides were very knowledgeable, friendly and took good care of the group to make sure we all were able to see and experience the animals well. Immediately made us want to sign up for the next class to get even more interaction with these stunning creatures.

It was an incredible experience learning about the raptor birds. Their guide, Scott, was very knowledgeable and had been helping with Falcons since he was 7 years old. You could feel the passion in his voice for these birds. Scott led us through three different locations with several different birds of prey including three subspecies of Falcons, Hawks, and two types of owls. The hike with the flying hawk was awesome!
It was a great experience for my son and I. We learned a lot about falconry in a relaxed atmosphere. Scott did a great job meaning everyone feel comfortable and demonstrating how to work the birds. We each got to have a bird perch on our arm at the end. But the bird was passed from the trainer to the participant. The bird did not fly and perch on your arm (just in case you were expecting it). It is worth the time and money. My teenage son and I enjoyed it.

My son and I recently participated in the Falconry Experience at Broadmoor Outfitters, and it was easily one of the most unique, and memorable experiences we have ever shared together. Denise and Scott are absolutely outstanding. Their depth of knowledge about all birds, and specifically, falconry is remarkable—not only regarding the birds themselves, but also the rich history of falconry, training techniques, and the special relationships that exist between falconers and their birds. It was obvious from the moment they began speaking that this is a genuine passion of theirs. What impressed us most was their ability to make the experience both highly educational and incredibly fun. They presented a wealth of information in a way that was engaging, interactive, and easy to understand. The opportunity to interact with owls, falcons & hawks up close was amazing. Watching them fly, learning about their behaviors, and experiencing firsthand the trust and skill involved in falconry gave us an entirely new appreciation for these incredible birds. If you are visiting Colorado Springs, I recommend the Falconry Experience without hesitation. Denise and Scott will provide an experience that exceeds expectations. My son and I left with wonderful memories, a newfound respect for the art of falconry, and a long list of fascinating facts we were still talking about hours later.
My husband and I did this experience with raptors and were completely blown away with how great of an experience it was!! The birds were amazing and obviously well taken care of. Deanna was such a great guide and we learned so much from her about the birds. It was incredible to interact with them and watch them in the outdoors, flying and showing their natural predatory behaviors. I highly recommend this, whether you are particularly a bird lover or not!

An excellent experience. Both Deanna the falconer and Katie the host/van driver were first rate! Friendly and knowledgeable. We were impressed by Deanna’s expertise, experience and care for the animals. Loved watching her interact with them.
