My wife, son, and I had a wonderful experience with our awesome pilot T-Dog. It is an early start to the day, but we'll wroth it. T-Dog was very careful to pick our takeoff location for the best experience. It was interesting learning how they get everything set up for liftoff. The basket is divided into 4 sections for guests plus the pilot box. For the 3 of us, it was a little tight, but it's all part of the experience. I have a fear of heights but was not triggered at all on the flight. We felt very secure and just in awe of the view. Drifting with the wind is gentle and smooth. The landing was even easier than expected. After landing the crew, set up lite breakfast snacks, and T-Dog had a very nice toast prepared. From start to finish an amazing experience. Highly recommend.
If you’re visiting Garden of the Gods, do yourself a favor and book the trolley tour with Wild Bill! From the moment we stepped on the trolley, he made everyone feel welcome with his friendly personality and great sense of humor. His knowledge of the park, its history, geology, and wildlife was absolutely incredible, and he shared it in a way that kept everyone engaged from start to finish. What really stood out was how thorough he was. He didn’t just point out the major landmarks—he took the time to explain the stories behind them, answer every question, and make sure everyone had a memorable experience. You can tell he genuinely loves what he does, and that passion shines through in every part of the tour. This was one of the highlights of our trip, and we left with a much greater appreciation for Garden of the Gods. Thank you, Wild Bill, for an outstanding experience! We would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the area.
Wonderful experience. Kids enjoyed it and pilot Greg made it fun for all. We would highly recommend.
Sometimes things just work out for a reason. I originally booked my hot air balloon ride with another local company (who kept my friend and I in suspense about whether or not we actually had a reservation because they were waiting to see if more people would book their tour). We found Adventures Out West on Viator and were not only able to book with them right away, but also get an immediate confirmation for our reservation. The only frustrating thing is that when booking through Viator, it requires a minimum of 2 people in order to book the reservation. I'm normally a solo traveler but fortunately I had a friend who wanted to do this excursion as well... But something to keep in mind if you are a solo traveler. You may want to reach out to the company directly to see if you can book as a party of one. The meeting place is about an hour drive from Denver. My friend and I left before dawn and made it to the meeting point by sunrise. Everybody on the team was friendly, energetic and welcoming even at such an ungodly hour. On the ride over to the departure site, they gave us a quick overview of what to expect as well as a safety briefing then we waited for them to unpack and inflate the balloon. After about 45 minutes we were ready to go. I am glad that I did this trip with a friend because it's close quarters in the basket. The basket has several compartments that each hold two people, bus compartments for the fuel tanks and another for the pilot. It's barely enough space in the compartment to turn around, so if you're going by yourself you're going to get to know a stranger VERY well by the end of the ride. The ride itself was absolutely wonderful. It was a calm, breathtaking glide across Colorado Springs. We drifted over the Colorado Springs Airport and got to watch an airplane take off right in front of us. We were about 2,000 ft up, so we were also able to see some of the local wildlife running around as we floated. It was a beautifully peaceful ride. The ground team was supposed to meet us at our landing site but unfortunately they got stuck in a ditch (we could see them from the air). They radioed the pilot of the hot air balloon (T-Dogg) to let him know what was going on and he handled the experience like the consummate professional. Our 40-60 minute ride ended up being almost 2 hours while T-Dogg figured out where to land. He kept us informed of the situation, let us know what his plan was, and never at any time did we feel uncomfortable or unsafe. Ultimately we ended up landing in the driveway of the Pikes Peak outdoor gun club. It was an adventure for everyone involved, as members drove around our massive hot air balloon to enter or exit the venue, snapping pictures and video as they went. The landing was astonishingly gentle. I expected a much more jarring experience but we touched down so softly, then gently bounced a few inches off the ground before coming to a full stop. Another testament to T-Dogg's skill as a pilot. Unfortunately the ground crew was unable to get themselves unstuck, so the staff were able to coordinate ground transportation from another vehicle in their fleet: A modified Jeep that thankfully had space for all of us. We ride by the ditch where the ground team was stuck, picked up all of our items and then headed back to the meeting point where we were welcomed back with some wonderful refreshments including mini muffins and cinnamon rolls, fruit and cheese, as well as a champagne toast, which is an integral part of the hot air balloon experience so you don't want to miss that. This has been a bucket list item for me for a while and I cannot imagine having a better experience than I did with Adventures Out West.
We had a great time in the air balloon. It was our first time, the crew was amazing and the views & ride was breathtaking!
Flight was canceled 1 hour before we were set to arrive. It was meant to be the highlight of our vacation and we planned everything around it. Woke up and packed up at 4am just to get a text at 5:45 that the flight was cancelled. Pilot stated it was due to the weather but by 7am the sky’s were clear. I called him and was told it was due to cloud cover. It sounded to me like he was just waking up. I’m not a pilot but I do have 20/20 eye sight and there were no clouds at 7am when we were meant to meet at 6:45 am. I spent $770 on a 3 hour experience that never happened and now expect a full return of my money.
It was wonderful!!! It was great witnessing the balloon set up. Kind of awesome that you are at the mercy of the winds. The pilot was very skilled. Breakfast and champagne toast was fun!
It was great. Such a gentle float and amazing views. Great way to celebrate our 20 year anniversary.
Quiet flight, very experienced pilot, an incredible experience. The view was amazing, you can see the mountains in a different way.
It was a beautiful day and a wonderful ride. Checked off a long standing bucket list item. Both Terry and Greg were awesome.
We had a wonderful hot air balloon ride! Adventures Out West did a wonderful job of finding a great spot to take off and gave clear directions about staying safe throughout the ride. They also had snacks and a certificate for participating.
First time Hot air ballooning... What an experience. Staff was amazing, professional, and knowledgable. Breakfast and Mimoas are a plus. Thank you!!!
The most memorable memory is the view from over 12,000 feet up in the sky without an airplane. It shows us how small we really are and how mighty God is!
Very good ride, I recommend it to anyone, to have nice ride and have new experiences, we will come back to do this again next year
This was an amazing experience! Our pilot Greg went way above and beyond to make every moment memorable!! This is a bucket list experience- don’t miss it!!! This was the highlight of our trip to Colorado Springs!
Absolutely incredible! The sunrise hot air balloon flight over Colorado Springs was a dream come true. Soaring over landmarks like Pikes Peak and the Garden of the Gods at dawn was breathtaking. The pilot was knowledgeable and ensured a safe, memorable experience. A must-do for stunning views and serene moments in the sky. Five stars!
This was such an amazing experience to watch from beginning to end the setup and break down of the ballon. To be 14,000 feet up in the sky was breathtaking and the views was beautiful.
If though the wind was nonexistent-the balloon pilot-Greg did his very best to hover so high in the sky. Clear view of the Garden of the Gods, Pikes Peak and Colorado Springs. This was our first time experiencing a hot air balloon ride-it won’t be our last. This company was professional and very personable The champagne toast and muffins were a nice touch after the ride.
This was a great experience! I highly recommend this. We got to be part of a ballon festival in Pueblo, with multiple other balloons floating all around us.
Pilot was charmasic and a great pilot. Was knowledge and cared about both safety and the experience. Look forward to trying it again someday
Fantastic sunrise trip over plains looking out to Pikes Peak. Crew were outstanding, friendly and very hard working.
I waited a long time but finally was able to make it off the ground today. It was a beautiful morning in Colorado Springs. We took flight on a hot air balloon to glide over the pastures, hills, and the breathtaking sights of all our surrounding mountains. Pike Peak front and center! The history and champagne toast after landing,, were super special touch. I would highly recommend Adventures Out West and cannot wait till I can go back up again!! The Aeronut Certificate was a nice momento, along with the stickers. I am so glad I got to be a part of your 50th Anniversary year!!! You guys are amazing!!! Thank you!
Amazing day! Crew was absolutely wonderful. Perfect first experience with ballooning. Got to experience the set up and takedown and the flight was so relaxing, never once was there uncomfortable moments in the air. We stayed warm during the morning chill of October on the ground and once in the air the heat from the balloon was more than enough to stay comfortable. Would recommend to anyone that climb into the basket.
Amazing experience! Our first balloon ride. The pilot, Terry O , was knowledgeable about the area and ballooning. The crew did a great job getting things ready and making us feel comfortable.
Adventures out west made this experience that much more memorable. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. Fun to learn the history of hot air ballooning as well.
Breathtaking views. Peaceful ride. Really enjoyed our time. Terry was wonderful. Made us feel comfortable and explained in detail what to expect from our experience. Would definitely go again.
This was awesome! The kids loved watching them set-up the balloon, and we had a perfect day for the adventure. After the ride is when they serve you a light breakfast — and our guide/pilot shared some interesting history about ballooning. Loved it all!
A balloon ride was on our bucket list and we enjoyed the entire experience. The ride was breath-taking and will remain one of our most memorable life experiences ever. The entire team did a wonderful job from pick-up to drop off including a breakfast and a champaign toast at the end. Thank you Adventures Out West for making our trip to Colorado Springs Awesome!
It was Greg he was the best Pilot. We got a Full experience of Colorado land marks. Mimosa and light breakfast. Also a Certificate at the end.
Fantastic balloon ride with an experienced pilot. Do NOT book through Viator. They charge you an extra $70 per person and do not stand behind the lowest price guaranteed claim
Not very near the mountains and very short ride. Not worth $355. Not breathtaking views for sure. Staff was good.
This was something we wanted to do for a long time. Really glad we chose this one, excellent experience and crew. Had a wonderful time and I would absolutely recommend it.
We all really enjoyed this trip! T dog and his crew were awesome! They were great at putting us at ease. It was very informative and absolutely breathtaking. The light breakfast and champagne toast at the end was perfect! Would definitely recommend!
If you are like me and never have been on a hot air balloon ride, go with Adventures Out West. I had booked this trip as a present for my daughter and was anxious about it being canceled. It really was an adventure since we didn't know what to expect. When the day finally came, I don't think we could've asked for better weather. Our pilot T-Dog and his crew were lively and funny, with plenty of stories and information. They gave clear instructions and always had our safety in mind. It was comforting to see them checking over the equipment and the envelope for any possible safety concerns. During the flight, the ground crew kept in contact to alert the pilot to the location of nearby balloons. The celebratory breakfast spread had a little something for everyone. The flight and landing were very graceful (thanks, T-Dog). Such an awesome experience, easily the best part of our trip!
Just absolutely amazing!! T- dogg, or pilot was great! Nice smooth ride, nice landing. The staff was great, Ken was a great guy!! Just a fabulous experience all the way around!!
T Dog, Ken and their crew were absolutely wonderful, knowledgeable and super friendly! Our basket buddies were fine company for our balloon ride n I would definitely recommend your company to everyone. Thank you 😊
Really great ride. Ended up just being the two of us. We got to do some things not usually done in a balloon. We had a great landing close to our takeoff point. After lifting off we went down wind, then changed altitude and our direction changed almost 180 degrees.
Changing directions in mid-flight. We actually stopped any horizontal movement at about 2000 AGL. Our landing was the greatest. 4 little bumps.
Was a great experience! Something I wanted to do for a long time? Great team and wonderful time. I would recommend to anyone.
The after-landing celebration with champagne/cheese, the history of hot balloon's invention and fun stories, owner and pilot Terry put a fantastic experience for us in sunrise, unforgettable!
Awesome in every way. Do this in your lifetime as often as life allows! The company was very professional in a great way so you are very comfortable the entire way at the same time you’re able to relax and ENJOY 😊
I bought this as a surprise birthday present for my best friend, and it was amazing. Our hot air balloon operator was super knowledgeable and very personable. He pointed out all the amazing sights and explained the hot air balloon process. Colorado is already naturally gorgeous. But soaring over Colorado Springs watching the sun rise isn’t something I’ll ever forget. My friend is terrified of heights and she said it was amazing! She wasn’t even scared! Getting in and out of the basket is a little tricky but it’s totally worth it! Then when we landed they served us breakfast and gave us this adorable little stickers! Loved it!
Tdogg and his crew are amazing, fun and truly make it an experience! It's a must! From take off, to landing everything was perfect! Loved learning the history of ballooning and the Champagne toast to celebrate!
We had a great experience with Adventures Out West's Sunrise Hot Air Balloon Ride. This was our first time ballooning, so we were a little nervous but AOW made the experience so much fun. Our pilot, Terry, was amazing. He took time to teach us about ballooning: what he looks for in the weather, the process of inflating the balloon, how to prepare for landing, etc. Terry has over 2,000 hours of hot air ballooning under his belt and his experience showed. The day we were scheduled, Terry was concerned about the amount of wind. He explained to us what he was looking for and that safety was the first priority. After careful consideration, he decided to cancel the flight for the day. We were grateful that he was looking out for us! He offered to try and take us the next day. The next day, the weather was right and we had an incredible flight to almost 4,000 feet above ground (every flight is a little different, so please don't get angry if your flight doesn't reach this height :) ). It was unforgettable! After the flight, the crew set up a wonderful breakfast spread of cheese, fruit, pastries, and nuts. Terry also gave us a history of ballooning. Wonderful experience!
They were very safety conscious and explained the trip, takeoff and landing in detail. Aunt and I really enjoyed
I've done a balloon ride before and wanted my nieces to experience the same. They were nervous, but you couldn't tell from the photo's. The staff was professional and concerned for our safety. I wish it would have lasted longer. Breakfast in the field was a lot of fun. With the views, even on the ground, it's a good day. I highly recommend this Hot Air Balloon ride!
T dog & his crew provided a superior calm balloon ride. Floating above the sky as morning awoke was one of the best simple pleasures I’ve had in a long time simple pleasures are the best.
