I had the pleasure of taking a tour of the Brown Palace yesterday, and Matt was absolutely amazing! His knowledge of the hotel’s history was outstanding. He brought every story to life so beautifully that I felt as though I were reading a fascinating book. Matt’s enthusiasm, storytelling, and attention to detail made the entire experience unforgettable. I loved every minute of it! If you take the tour, ask for Matt—you will not be disappointed. He deserves all five stars and more!

We had a nice experience at the Brown Palace hotel. The highs: -Staff were all excellent and accommodating -Beautiful lobby and interior decor -Valet was awesome and fast -Good housekeeping / very clean room For the price of the hotel, however, there were some downfalls. -The HVAC was not good. Our room would not go below 75 degrees the first evening. Maintenance was very quick to come up and turn the vents up to full blast, but this only helped marginally. It seems like the thermostats were just dummies and did not actually do anything. Granted, it was 90+ degrees in Denver when we stayed here, but that's not unusually high for the city. -hot water took 5-10 minutes to work and showers were not intuitive....the dials behind the glass door meant getting soaked with cold water. -bed was not comfortable and very squeaky
Great place to stay for downtown activities. Lots of hot spots for coffee or dinner within a quick walk. Beautiful architecture. Love the atrium. Parking is an issue (as with any place in DT Denver). The hotel has valet service for a fee, so we paid 35ish bucks to park for a day and half around the corner in the 1670 ramp, which was just fine (about a three minute walk). Seems like people are REALLY into their jazz music at this place? 🤷♂️ Not our thing, but I can respect it. Just know that if you need an afternoon/evening nap before you go out for a late Saturday night, bring ear plugs. Because they're really belting it out out there in that beautiful atrium. And the sound carries. Check in was easy, but there are steps up to the annoying spinning door. So you aren't wheeling the luggage cart out to your trunk. Living in a 100 year old house/stone and concrete bunker myself, I'm always curious to see how places like this update the amenities and style. Well, the room was nice. 👍 Pretty standard size. The bathroom was also well done and tasteful. They did an amazing job and decorating. We basically had no control over the thermostat. It was a 100° weekend, so we had it cranked down to 68 (the lowest they allowed). However the temp gauge on the thermostat said it was 75... and we couldn't feel cold air coming out anywhere? So who knows. The ceiling fan helped. Other than that, the remote batteries were dying. We don't watch much TV, so it didn't bother us much. But I always feel like that's something hotels should be on top of. Wifi sucked, but we just use data anyway. There were plenty of outlets to charge things, but only one light switch for the whole main room. They use quality towels, and we had plenty of TP (something we use a LOT of 🤭). We'd totally stay here again. And who knows? Maybe we will when we get back to Denver. 👍
We brought my mother in law here for tea on her 80th, out of town guests included. I called to talk to staff about what they do for birthdays. I was told various things. When we got there the waitress told me I had gotten bad info. She said they would have the piano player do Happy Birthday and give her cake. That didn’t happen. The hostess dropped off a cupcake with a candle and said Happy Birthday. I was initially told they would sing to her with the piano. It was derby day and they were busy (and we got to listen to a blaring TV). Fine, and the slow service is okay, we weren’t in a rush but the birthday was underwhelming…the hostess indifferent. I called later because I wanted to share our experience. I left multiple messages but no call back. Finally Desi called me back and kudos to her, she understands customer service. She wanted us to come back but the ship had sailed. I wasn’t trying to get something for free. She promised the food manager would call back, they never do. I called the general manager and left a message saying i had called multiple times. No call back. It makes me sad because it was a special event and wasn’t made special. The lack of customer service removes any residual good feeling. The Brown Palace is too big and too successful to care with the exception of Desi. Thanks Desi, I wish you were the manager.
I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience at The Brown Palace was incredibly disappointing. For a stay that cost nearly $5,000 for four nights, I expected exceptional service and a luxury experience. Unfortunately, the service was anything but. The staff consistently came across as indifferent, unhelpful, and at times downright rude. Basic hospitality seemed to be missing throughout the stay. For the price charged, I expected attention to detail, professionalism, and a genuine commitment to guest satisfaction. Instead, I felt like just another inconvenience. The hotel certainly has history and charm, but history alone does not justify luxury pricing. When you're paying premium rates, the service should be premium as well—and it simply wasn't. I left feeling that I had paid an outrageous amount of money for an experience that failed to deliver on even the most basic expectations. There are far better hotels in Denver that offer significantly better value, modern amenities, and staff who actually make guests feel welcome. I would not stay here again, nor would I recommend it to anyone expecting a true luxury hotel experience.
