We have stayed at this Hotel many times even though it is almost 1,000 miles from home. We love the views, the luxury, and beautiful facility, but most of all we love the staff that is always cheerful and ready to help. Just last week we had stayed several days and were packing the car to head home. We travel with a small service dog in a stroller that is very important to us. When we stopped in Albuquerque for lunch we discovered to our horror that we had left the stroller in the parking lot back in Durango that had all of our dog’s credentials in it. We called the hotel and talked to the General Manager (Zach) and explained what had happened; we explained that we could easily replace the stroller, but the items in the stroller were very important to us. Zach told us not to worry, that he would box up the items we needed, go to UPS that same afternoon, and get them sent to us the quickest way possible. Zach paid the UPS charge out of his own pocket, trusting that we would reimburse him. It took us two days to get back home in Texas, and the package arrived the next morning as promised! What a great experience for us, turning a very bad situation into a surprisingly great experience. It’s no wonder the people who are employees at the Doubletree by Hilton in Durango are so nice and professional under Zach’s leadership! We will gladly return as long as we are able! Many thanks to Zach and Hilton!

This is an older, historic hotel, with tiny elevators and minimal ADA access, but it is truly lovely. The attention to detail in the common areas, from the wall carvings to the chandeliers to the seating - it's all surprisingly intricate. The hotel is very quiet, the rooms are spacious, and the location is great. Having two sinks in separate areas was very convenient, the TV was large and had a great picture, and the bed was comfortable. There are river views from the lounge, the dining room, the workout room, and the beer garden. If you have an opportunity to upgrade to a river view room, I'd suggest it. It's a lovely scene and the sound of the river is very soothing. The staff was great, although at times short-handed. They made it work. We stayed three nights and were very pleased.
This hotel is in a great location! I highly recommend a room with a river view. We are enjoying watching the kayaks and rafts come down the river even into the evening hours. The downtown area with restaurants and shops is across the street. If you are planning on a train ride the depot is also across the street. The staff were extremely attentive when we checked in. We got in a bit before the 4 PM check in, and only one of our rooms was ready. The front desk offered to call my cell when our room was ready, and asked their team to put a rush on the cleaning. We appreciated this, and are really enjoying the stay!
I love this Double Tree location!! It’s slightly outdated but not in a bad way at all. The property itself is pretty big with a good size lobby. It has an old western vibe. We managed to get a two queen room with a river front view close to the brew pub that also overlooks the river. The room itself was a little outdated but clean and had nice bed linens, soft down pillows and a clean updated bathroom. It was also very roomy. The tv was newly updated and pretty big although just had 42 channels. The checkin process was very smooth and the reception staff were very professional and friendly. Of course the fresh cookies are an a great touch! The location is just two blocks from Main Street and 3 blocks from the railway station. The parking lot shares the same space as Albertsons which is an added perk. I love that the hotel sits right on the river. I’m tempted to stay here again.
We loved this place. Some people may find it a little dated but we found the old woodwork very charming... Maybe even the popcorn ceilings. The pool was a good temperature and the hot tub was nice. Our room was right on the Animas river so we opened our door and listened to it at night. Jaclyn was extremely nice and checked on how we were doing a couple of times on our stay. We got warm cookies when we checked in. It is also very close to old downtown and an Albertsons was right across the street! Thanks for the stay!
