Dedicated to Sitadevi, the wife of Lord Rama is the Sita Amman Temple, sitting in the hills of Nuwara Eliya. Regarded with abiding devotion by Hindus, it is considered to be the only such temple in the world. It can be found 5 kilometres en route the road from Nuwara Eliya to Kandy. This temple is special and significant in relevance to the story behind its origin – it was where Sitadevi had been imprisoned by King Ravana because she had refused to stay in his palace approximately 5000 years ago. Devotees flock to this area where Sita had bathed, the rock she had sat on and where she had spent her time in prayer. Many of the people believe that this phase of the epic tale of Ramayana had taken place here, thereby making this area a popular tourist location. The pooja timings of the temple are from 8am – 1pm in the mornings and 2pm – 6:30pm in the afternoons.
Kandy, the birthplace of Ceylon Tea is the administrative capital for tea production since ancient times when modern transport and roads had barely emerged. Since Kandy was located on a higher elevation in the hills, its climatic conditions proved ideal for the growth of tea, hence the British, during their colonization years, converted many areas to tea plantations, inaugurating the production of tea in Sri Lanka. The first tea plant was brought to the country from China and was planted in the Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya. Having originated in Kandy, tea plantations flourished to areas of Nuwara Eliya, Hatton, Haputale, Hantane and Bandarawela, thus rapidly increasing the production of tea even after Sri Lanka’s independence thereby making the country among the top tea producers in the world.
Day 4

Spanning 91 metres and 24 metres high, the architectural brilliance of Nine Arches Bridge stretches on the Demodara loop. The stunning nine arches generate a picturesque place surrounded by thick jungle and tea plantations. Also titled, Bridge in the Sky, because when you stand below the bridge and look up you can see the sky through the nine arches. Almost a century old, it was constructed in 1921 amidst picturesque foliage of the Hill country, and stands as a specimen of railway construction during the British colonial epoch. Due to the shortage of steel during World War II, the bridge was constructed solely using cement and stone bricks.
Entry Fee : LKR 200 Celebrated as one of the most beautiful waterfalls, it stands at height of 63 meters. ‘Dun’ in Sinhalese translates to mist, hence the cascade is named after the smoky ivory mist created from the falls. It is also known as ‘Bridal Falls’, due to the shape of the fall resembling a bridal veil. During the rainy season, from November to March, the falls carry large volumes of water, making the waterfall even more captivating. The brief trek to the waterfall is enchanting, with beguiling wild life such as butterflies, exotic birds, monkeys and deer along the way. In order to get to Dunhinda Falls, one must past a smaller waterfall referred to as Kadu Dunhina (Small Dunhinda Falls), where one can stop for a sip of water from the fall or a indulge in a delicious herbal concoction sold by vendors nearby. Dunhinda Falls is formed by the Badula Oya, the waterfall is located close to Badulla on the Mahiyangana Road. It is situated approximately 20-30 kilometers from Ella.
It is named so due to its striking similarity to the sacred mountain Adam’s Peak (Sri Pada), where according to Sinhalese Buddhist tradition, lies the preserved and sacred footprint of Lord Buddha, instilled during one of his visits to Sri Lanka. Little Adam’s Peak, also referred to as Mini Adam’s Peak, is another popular Ella hiking destination in the vicinity. The 1,141 metre peak is a relatively less demanding hike than that of Ella Rock. The hike takes you through boundless scenic tea plantations, taking only approximately 45 minutes to complete. The summit of Little Adam’s Peak is astounding with incredible 360 degree views of the misty mountains in the area and is best visited at dawn or dusk. It is approximately 4 km from Ella Town and is considered one of the easiest hikes in area. Deepa provided a great experience! We literally customized parts of my tour as we made our way to each city. That way I could skip over things that didn’t interest me. All the 4 star hotel options were good. He showed me some of the other options that he normally books and I wish I had gone with those choices as they were cheaper and better!
I love the service and he came with the name board. I extremely love the service.
Our trip to Sri Lanka for our daughter’s first birthday became even more special because of Deepa Sir. From day one, he went above and beyond to make sure we had the best possible experience. His recommendations for places to visit and activities to do were always spot on, helping us make the most of our time and even avoid long queues. What touched us the most was the bond he built with our daughter. She became so comfortable with him, and his kindness in carrying her and giving my wife and me a few precious moments together while strolling along the coastline is something we will always remember. I never got bored listening to his stories and experiences. His vast knowledge, combined with the many fascinating stories from his years of meeting travelers from around the world, made every journey enjoyable. What truly sets him apart is that he genuinely cares. He wanted us to enjoy every view, every activity, and every moment of our trip as much as possible. His hospitality, warmth, and attention to detail made us feel cared for throughout our journey. We met as strangers but said goodbye like family. Years from now, we may forget some of the places we visited, but we will never forget Deepa Sir and the kindness, hospitality, and wonderful memories he helped create for us. Thank you for making our family trip so memorable.

Wszystko przebiegało płynnie, bez pośpiechu i bez stresu. Hotele dobrane były świetnie, a przejazdy komfortowe. Czuliśmy się zaopiekowani od początku do końca. Jeśli ktoś planuje podróż po Sri Lance – szczerze polecam Lankan Cabs and Travels. Dzięki nim nasza wycieczka była dopracowana w najmniejszych szczegółach i naprawdę niezapomniana.
