I had an exceptional dining experience at Port's of Call Restaurant at Taj Samudra Colombo. From the moment we arrived, the warm welcome and outstanding hospitality made us feel truly valued. The attentive staff went above and beyond to ensure that every aspect of our visit was memorable. A special thank you to Dilhara, Chathura, and Dias, who were not only knowledgeable about the menu but also genuinely passionate about delivering top-notch service. Their professionalism, friendliness, and attention to detail made our dining experience truly special. Overall, the service was outstanding, the hospitality was exceptional, and Dilhara and his team deserve special recognition for their dedication and commitment to excellence. I highly recommend Port's of Call to anyone looking for a first-class dining experience in Colombo.

Our stay at Taj Samudra Colombo was extremely disappointing and nowhere near the standards expected from a luxury hotel. The property is clearly outdated and in desperate need of renovation. The rooms and common areas feel old, tired, and do not justify the premium price. One of the biggest concerns was that guests were openly smoking in the corridors. The smell of cigarette smoke spread through the hallways, making it very unpleasant, especially for families with children. It was surprising that such behavior was not controlled by the hotel. Housekeeping was by far the worst part of our stay. Our room was not properly serviced, drinking water was not refilled, and fresh towels were not provided without repeatedly asking. These are basic expectations at any hotel, let alone a five-star property. Breakfast was another major letdown. The dining area was overcrowded and completely chaotic, feeling more like a busy marketplace than a luxury hotel restaurant. Guests were moving in every direction, queues were poorly managed, and the overall experience was stressful rather than enjoyable. For a hotel carrying the Taj name, I expected exceptional hospitality and attention to detail. Unfortunately, this stay delivered neither. There are far better luxury hotels in Colombo that offer modern facilities, better housekeeping, and a much more relaxing guest experience. I would not recommend Taj Samudra Colombo and would not choose to stay here again.
After an incredible two-week journey across Sri Lanka, we chose to spend our final night before departure at Taj Samudra Colombo, hoping to end our holiday in comfort with some authentic Indian cuisine. Looking back, it couldn't have been a better decision. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel genuinely welcome. Duty Manager Ms. Dunisha Ranawaka and Mr. Amjath at Reception greeted us with exceptional warmth and hospitality. Understanding that we were checking in around 6:00 PM and departing early the next morning at 8:00 AM, they graciously upgraded us to a Club Room—a thoughtful gesture that made our short stay even more memorable. Despite having only one evening at the property, we made the most of it. We enjoyed the beautiful pool, relaxed at the bar, and ordered in-room dining, with every aspect of the experience being seamless and impeccable. A special mention goes to Mr. Malaka, the Restaurant Manager, whose warmth and attentiveness made both us and our children feel completely at home. After nearly two weeks of travelling, the delicious Indian food was exactly what we had been craving, and every meal exceeded our expectations. We enjoyed one of the most restful nights of our trip, woke up to an outstanding breakfast spread, and before heading to the airport, Mr. Malaka thoughtfully arranged packed comfort food for our children to enjoy on the journey home—an act of kindness that perfectly reflected the spirit of Taj hospitality. Taj Samudra Colombo provided the perfect ending to a truly unforgettable Sri Lankan holiday. Elegant, welcoming, and genuinely caring, it reminded us why the Taj name is synonymous with world-class hospitality. Our heartfelt thanks to Ms. Dunisha Ranawaka, Mr. Amjath, Mr. Malaka, and the entire team for making our brief stay so special. We look forward to returning.
We visited Taj Colombo for their Sunday Lunch Buffet, and it was an excellent experience from start to finish. The variety of food was outstanding. As vegetarians, we were genuinely surprised by how many options were available, we couldn’t even manage to try everything! The buffet had an impressive selection of fresh salads, breads and buns, along with delicious Sri Lankan, Indian, Chinese, and Japanese dishes, all prepared to a very high standard. A lovely touch was the complimentary mocktail and cocktail, which made the experience feel even more special. What truly stood out, however, was the hospitality. Every member of the team was warm, attentive, and welcoming, making us feel well looked after throughout our visit. The ambience was wonderful, with relaxing live music playing in the background, creating the perfect atmosphere for a leisurely Sunday lunch. Highly recommended whether you’re a vegetarian or a non-vegetarian. We’ll definitely be back!
We had a wonderful stay at Taj Samudra Colombo. From the moment we arrived, the hospitality was warm and welcoming. A special thank you to Fatima and Indunil, who served us at breakfast, as well as Dewmali and Chandana, for their exceptional service and genuine care. They made us feel more like personal guests than hotel guests, which made our stay truly memorable. Thank you to the entire team for making our stay so enjoyable. We look forward to visiting again.
