A truly unique dining experience in Colombo!
Set in the former residence of Sri Lanka’s first female Prime Minister, Sirimavo Bandaranaike, this historic property has been beautifully transformed into an exclusive boutique hotel and restaurant while retaining much of its old-world charm and character.
The food is excellent, but the black pork curry is an absolute standout—rich, flavourful, and one of the best I’ve tasted. The selection of desserts is also superb, making it very difficult to choose just one!
A wonderful combination of history, elegance, atmosphere, and authentic Sri Lankan flavours. Definitely worth experiencing when in Colombo.
We stayed 2 nights en route from Australia to London. Splitting the time difference helped ease us into holiday mode and make the jet lag very manageable. The Tintagel is a beautiful oasis of old world charm and luxury and located near some great local eateries if not dining in. Breakfast at See one morning was a lovely highlight and just 2 mins easy walk. Our other highlight was the remedial massage from Rohana- intensely bad in a good way - undoubtedly the best massage I have ever had!!! We will definitely stay again but give ourselves more time to get to Kandy by train.
Attended an engagement function here. The venue felt a bit cramped for a large crowd, with limited space for guests to move around. The dining table seemed to accommodate around 20 guests as i think, and the public toilets were also quite small.
the food was good. Overall, it’s a decent place for smaller functions, but the space may be a limitation for larger gatherings.
Everything about our stay was amazing. Food, staff hospitality, and welcoming atmosphere were top-notch! The only minor drawback was the interior art. While visually interesting, the designs were so overly complex that they seemed to lack any clear meaning or story. It would have been a much richer experience if the hotel provided a small description or context for the artwork. Otherwise, it was a great stay!
We had a lovely afternoon with family here, and had a delicious spread for high tea. The tuna and cucumber cheese sandwich along with the homemade ginger beer really made a good impression. I absolutely loved the carrot cake! They served a good cup of tea too. Thanks for the warm welcome and tour of the property.
