Galle Face Hotel

I am writing to report serious issues with the room I was assigned. The room was not clean at all. The bed covers and bed linens were dirty and appeared to have been used without being properly changed. The overall cleanliness of the room was very poor. In addition, the room was very small, had almost no ventilation, and basic amenities such as slippers, toothpaste, and proper bathing supplies were not provided. These conditions were far below the standard I expected when booking through Booking.com, and they made my stay very uncomfortable. Based on my experience, I feel that Indian customers are not treated with the same respect and level of service as customers from other countries. It appears that the staff are more willing to provide prompt and attentive service to European and other foreign customers, while Indian customers are often overlooked. Even something as simple as requesting a glass of water at the restaurant can involve an extremely long wait, sometimes close to an hour. The restaurant opposite our location plays extremely loud music, especially at night. The noise is so excessive that it is difficult to sleep and it causes significant disturbance. I kindly request that appropriate action be taken to reduce the noise levels, particularly during nighttime, so that nearby residents and guests can enjoy a peaceful environment. Had a great time at the event held here yesterday. The surroundings are incredibly beautiful. It was fascinating to see several historical and unique landmarks, especially the old moniuments which looks amazing in photos. The area is filled with beautiful vintage buildings that carry a lot of history. Highly recommended place to visit!

We had a truly wonderful stay at Galle Face Hotel Colombo. The hotel’s historic charm, stunning beachfront location, and unique seawater pool made our experience unforgettable. Their hospitality is exceptional. During our stay, my husband became unwell, and both the day and night duty managers personally checked on him and offered any assistance we needed. A special thank you to Duty Manager Priyadarshi for her constant support, kindness, and genuine care. It truly meant so much to us. Every member of the staff was friendly, attentive, and always ready to help with a warm smile. Thank you to the entire team for making us feel so welcome and well cared for. We highly recommend this beautiful hotel and look forward to returning in the future.

This hotel is such a gem! The saltwater pool is the oldest one in Chennai and is very deep - perfect for doing laps! There are lovely beach chairs facing the ocean that are wonderful for viewing the sunset. The rooms are gorgeous - make sure you get an ocean view with a balcony, since the splurge is more than worth it! All of the staff are very kind and accommodating, and the place is gorgeously decorated. We especially loved looking out our room window and watching the waves. There was a music event during our stay, which meant that there were loud bass noises until about 2 AM. This made it a bit harder to enjoy the sea sounds and to sleep, which was unfortunate since we had an early tour the next day. We handled it fine with some noise canceling headphones, though. Also important to note that the staff went out of their way to accommodate us by upgrading our rooms, offering other available rooms, and apologizing multiple times for the inconvenience. They also comped a few of our room service charges, which was appreciated. My only suggestion is for the hotel to give guests more advanced notice if this happens again in the future! Regardless, I would absolutely stay here again in the future and would highly recommend it to others.
