My wife and I did this tour in October it was great. I'm sorry I forgot the tour guides name it began with an M but she was fantastic spoke perfect English and told great stories on the history of the area. She also gave us a great recommendation for food after this, was the best tour we did in Germany
Top Notch experience! Very entertaining and informative tour.
Great tour - right mix of fun, interesting, and history. Andrea was fantastic and I really appreciated the extra info and advice she gave me. Definitely a full two hours, felt very worth the cost
This was the BEST tour!! Highly recommend!! Caroline, our guide, was truly incredible! She was informative, fun, friendly, and knowledgeable! We learned so much interesting history about Cologne as well as Caroline adding special stories with additional details! She was also incredibly kind and patient when additional questions were asked! The group experience was enjoyable and interactive! This tour is one of the best ways to explore the city while learning about this past.
Turned up for 7pm start at location given on ticket. No one at starting point could not see anyone with a sign for the tour or group of people. Txt contact number on ticket no response. Very disappointing
Cameron was a great guide, creating a blend of the true dark side of Cologne with general history knowledge sharing. I would absolutely recommend this tour for anyone looking to learn more about some of the stories not told in the museums!
Caroline was so knowledgeable about the history and spooky stories of Köln! I would totally book again!
Our guide Cameron was very knowledgeable and chatty, with lots of facts about the city provided. He was very funny and sprinkled in lots of jokes about the more morbid topics such as Peter Kürten’s mummified head. The tour never felt like it was dragging on and ran very smoothly, without too much walking or standing around. Overall a very fun and interesting experience, we will definitely look to do more ghost tours in the future!
Absolutely fantastic! I enjoyed every second of this! Are guide was Caroline and she was just absolutely amazing! Would 10000% recommend!
Lorena was a fantastic guide. The tour was Very informative and interesting but Lorena made it even better. She had a passion for history and a great sense of humour too. Thank you Lorena!
Tour was entertaining with both our tour guides Cameron (from Scotland) and Michel (from Koln) having a wonderful rapport with each other and genuine love for their job. It was paced well with historical information and quirky "spooky" stories. There was plenty of time for photos and discussion or questions. Overall an entertaining experience.
Had a great tour led by Caroline. She was so enthusiastic and made the tour really engaging. From witches to ghosts, haunted houses and zombie stories, the tour covered the whole range of spooky subjects. I live in Cologne and attended with a friend who was visiting, and we both had a great time and learned new things about the city's history and legends.
Loved the tour! Our guide Lorena told us some history about the city and also the dark history, we loved it. She spoke with a lot of egnthousiasm which made it easy to listen to :) Also a fun way to walk through the city and get to know it!
Really interesting and fun tour of Köln, our guide Lorena was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic and me and my friends learnt a lot about Köln in the Middle Ages. I would definitely recommend taking part if you’re visiting the city.
This your was amazing! My daughter and I actually planned to leave it early for dinner, but ended up staying the whole time. Lots of great information and dark tales about the area.
Victoria is so engaging and funny! Thanks for showing us different sides to your city in a fun and engaging way. My husband and I also appreciated how there were ample opportunities to sit while Victoria told us about specific places and buildings. We loved hearing about the witch trials, the black plague, and even some revenge stories! At the end, the operators provide recommendations so be sure to pick their brains!
Amazing! He describes the stories and history so well
The tourguide is so energetic and fun! He really draws the audience in with his stories:)
Our guide Christina was well versed in the history of Cologne, adding quite a bit of Roman history in the area and the bits and pieces left behind. There was a story of passionate revenge leading to a restless spirit, and the legend of the cathedral's architect making a deal with the devil. Lots of information about executions, the witch panic, the plague, and a funny story about a "zombie" woman who was buried alive and lived to tell about it. Christina pointed out architectural details that defined the Kolsch character, and showed pictures of what the city looked like after its near total destruction at the end of WWII. We covered most of the best parts of the old city, now rebuilt and restored. Children would not be frightened, but they might experience information overload, despite the enthusiastic presentation. Highly recommended, although in the summertime, it's still broad daylight even at 9pm.
Cameron and Caroline were an absolute joy to hear from in the duration of the Dark Side Of The Dom tour. Caroline animatedly detailed all the dates and Cameron pointed out the signs of the devil's work, treating us to some low hanging fruit.
No Guide at the meeting point, so there was no tour for our group and no contact with the company
Lorena was fantastic, really personable and kind. Couldn’t recommend her more.
Our guide, Cameron, was light hearted and knew his history. He had a great sense of humor and was a joy to have as a guide! He told of old lore tales, a ghost sighting, a vampire serial killer, and a devilish detail in the building of the cathedral. Worth the Euros for a fun evening!
The guide was very energetic and knowledgeable. I wish I could remember her name. I was expecting more ghost-like stories of the Dom itself, but it was more about the history of Cologne. Overall I enjoyed it.
We had the best tour guide her name was, Lorena and she was from Columbia, but spoke fluent English German Spanish, and probably multiple other languages. She was extremely cultured, extremely knowledgeable do everything about everything here in Cologne and surrounding communities, even gave us wonderful recommendations for good Thai food in town. She really turned the city alive and something I wish I would’ve done our first day so that we knew what to go back to see.
Definitely a must do in Cologne! We didn't have the best of weather but it did add to the whole experience. Our tour guide Cameron was awesome and knew a lot of spooky stories. Was very knowledgeable too. I highly recommend this tour
Nice tour by Simon. Very entertaining
Simon is really interactive and well read person. We really enjoyed our time.
I really enjoyed this tour. Lorena was a fun tour guide and had a great vibe! I especially liked that she had us stop and enjoy a Kölsch as we learned about the coat of arms of Cologne and the colors to look for in a label. It was a fun tour, not as spooky as I thought it would be, but I learned some new things that I will research a bit more now.
Lorena was amazing. Really interesting tour. Totally recommended
This is a great tour of you are looking for something different
It was amazing and interesting
Cameron was a great guide! He speaks with a lot of enthousiasm and made the entire tour very enjoyable. Content wise, the tour is very well organised and really shows a different interesting side of Köln. Thank you Cameron for making our stay in Köln extra fun! 😊
What was sold as a ghost tour was actually a true crime tour but it was very interesting our tour guide spoke very good English and was able to make jokes and made the tour very interesting. Make sure you dress for the weather as some of the Americans on our tour didn't realise it got cold at night. The stories were interesting and he did not shy away from some of the less glorious moments of the cities past. But it was handled well with dignity and humour when appropriate
Really interesting tour and a great way to spend an evening. Angela was a fantastic guide, very friendly and a great storyteller. Good way to meet and chat to people if riding solo as I was as well. Would highly recommend.
Caroline was great,i learned some stuff
Fantastic tour host, fun friendly and very knowledgeable, the stories are brilliant and the walk through the town is beautiful listening to witch and ghost stories from the past, superstition and history on every corner. A must do in cologne. 10/10
Simon was amazing. Very informative and entertaining. If he’s in a good mood you may get to see his zombie impression. A must in Cologne
Tour guide was very energetic and knowledgeable about the history of the town and was able to combine it with a few ghost stories for a bit of fun. Great tour.
This is a great tour! The perfect balance of city history, spooky stories and humour. Cameron was a great guide, clearly well informed on & enthusiastic about the city & its stories. It was great fun & I feel like I know much more about Cologne now.
It was a fun tour overall. It was a bit long at around two hours, and the weather was extremely cold, but we still enjoyed it. We didn’t realize that we wouldn’t be able to go inside the cathedral, however the guide gave us some really nice tips about it, which we appreciated.
I did this tour yesterday eve, Dec 19th. Sander, our guide, was excellent. Warm, engaging, fun, knowledgeable and his enthusiasm shows through in his stories! It was great to hear the history of the city, see different areas, and get the inside gossip lol. Unfortunately our tour was somewhat spoiled by a large family group from the USA, who clearly didn’t want to be there ( why book??!! ) They kept disappearing to buy more beer, so the guide had to wait or go look for them. They then proceeded to laugh and talk amongst themselves whilst the guide was speaking. When I asked them to be quiet they became abusive and bullying. Disgusting behaviour, rude and disrespectful.
Wasn’t really what I expected. Not many local stories. A lot about romans etc. guide was good but a few left the tour half way through. Was expecting more local stories etc
Not quite a ghost tour per se, but there's plenty of gruesome things to hear about in the Dark Side of The Dom! This was my second walking tour of the day and a wonderful compliment to the daytime tour I'd taken with a different provider. First off, our friendly guide Sander broke the ice with us all by asking us to introduce ourselves and where we came from, and our favourite thing about our country or town of origin (mine was that a good cup of tea fixes everything in the UK). Sander himself is not German, he's Norwegian, but he stayed in Cologne after university when he fell in love with both the city and his partner. You can tell he's very enthusiastic about his job and that he loves the city! After the ice-breaker, we stopped at a kiosk to grab a kolner and learn how to properly toast in German (it's not compulsory to buy one, but a nice thing to do) before moving on. Given how packed the streets were thanks to the Christmas Markets, Sander did a fantastic job at leading us all through the chaos including taking a few diversions here and there without compromising the content of the tour. My favourite stories were of the mayor's wife who narrowly escaped a live burial thanks to grave-robbers, and how a deal with the Devil (and an attempt to outsmart him) interfered with the building of the Cathedral. The streets are so beautifully lit at night, so be sure to take lots of photos with the night-setting on your phone camera! Sander also shared some interesting trivia for a visitor to Cologne, including which Christmas Markets attract the locals, the long-standing sibling rivalry between Dusseldorf and Cologne (oddly, this doesn't carry over to football!) and the dark and blood-spattered history of Agrippe, the black widow founder and her son Nero. It can get a little nippy in the evenings and you'll be out in the elements for two hours, so ensure you wear some layers and bring an umbrella just in case - and good comfy shoes are an essential. Tour groups are capped at 15 people and we had a full house, so get in and pre-book early. A fantastic end to the first day of my trip, thank you Sander!
Ok. So, the weather was miserable. It was cold and pouring rain. Definitely not the best for a walking tour. But our tour guide Sander made it fun. And the weather almost contributed to the atmosphere of the tour. Do even though I was soaked to the bone and probably looked like drowned cat, I still had fun. I definitely recommend the tour but maybe, check the weather first 😁
What an incredible dive into the city's spooky history! More than just ghosts, also some medieval background was greatly appreciated!
I highly recommend it! Angela is an excellent guide, and I loved learning about the history of Cologne through her!!! :)
Excellent guided walk with a twist, learning dark and mysterious myths, tales and truths of bygone centuries. Lots of research has clearly been done to fact find historical events. Our guide Cameron had a great balance of seriousness and humour. A most enjoyable couple of hours spent.
Caroline was a fantastic guide! We appreciated her excitement to share all of her knowledge. Highly recommend the tour. Great time - informative, fun.
