This is a rip off. It does not give you entry to the cathedral so you can listen to the audio. We were refused entry as the cathedral does not recognise VIATOR tickets as entry. So it was a complete waste of money. Entry to the cathedral was only 2€ more for entry than these mobile tickets that are useless. Don’t buy. Buy tickets direct from the cathedral.
The audio guide does have some interesting facts, but I am pretty sure that the person behind it used AI to write it. Not only is the audio read by an AI voice, but the tour itself uses a lot of superlative words and sometimes begins to describe something only to neglect to describe parts of it. For example, it would start describing the different panels in a stained glass window, but then neglect to describe others. Occasionally it would repeat certain details, not to call back to them but to plainly stating them again. Also, it was pretty hard to follow the guide when the remains of the Magi were locked in an inaccessible area. Mind you, I wouldn't really have minded the use of AI if it had been advertised, and I think that this guide might still have some value. However, I would be lying if I said there wasn't a lot that could be improved upon. Also, if you want a closer look at the remains of the Magi, you're best off booking a real guide anyways.
This audio package was easy to download and included clear maps, photos, and an interesting explanation of each stop. This is a great alternative if you want an interactive alternative to a cathedral tour.
Audio tour of Cologne Cathedral was really good. Lots of really interesting information, easy to follow & had a map & photos so you knew where you were going.
We had a good experience either the Koln Cathedral audio tour. We also did a rickshaw tour for 2 hours.
The app and photos should be downloaded in advance. It’s very hard to follow and I’d suggest printing the map to have as a visual once inside. Info is interesting but I’d pay a few euro more to do the official guides tour. The Cathedral is spectacular and I did learn a lot and loved going at my own pace, once we could figure out where each photo was located.

Lots of information about the inside of the church and things on display. Not much history of the building the church. We enjoyed the tour and each person could listen at their own pace.
Take the tour during daylight hours to see the stained glass windows and visit all of the stops. Later in day various parts of cathedral are closed and the daylight us needed to appreciate the stained glass.
We were unable to access the tour guide. We got much more out of it by touring the church independently.
Scamed. The e trance is free only the tower is paid. The ticket it gives the impression that is for a different thing and area of the cathedral . The description is ambiguous
Marvelous cathedral and impressive introduction. My first time to visit Cologne and found it was very impressing and worthwhile to be there. Good to follow the guild to have more profound understanding of the history and background.
Went here on a sunday and there was mass going on. No one asked for my ticket at the door. Why ask for money?

The £11 I paid for the Cologne Cathedral audio tour for a group of 3 was well worth the cost. There are so many stories behind the history of the Cathedral. We wouldn't have been aware of them all without the audio tour! I had my doubts about the App, but it was affordable, so I decided to give it a go considering the official Cologne Cathedral Tour App would not work on our Android mobile phones as we found out having tried to use it first. The App is quite easy to use. You get a map with the story points mapped out, you also get a picture of each story point relative to a physical place in the Cathedral, so you can see that you are at the right point in the Cathedral to listen to the right section. Then, you get the story sections that you can listen to as many times as you like, fast forward/rewind/pause as you wish. Tip - Take your earbuds/headphones! I got asked to stop using my mobile phone a couple of times buy Cathedral staff, they first thought I was talking on the phone (I'd forgotten to take my ear buds so held the phone to my ear to listen). They were fine once they realised I was listening to the tour. It makes sense to purchase the tour beforehand and download the App before you get there but we did it whilst there and paid/got the code email and downloaded the app all in about 20-30 minutes while we sat in the pews. If you are purchasing the tour for more than one person, each person will need to download the App and sign in using the purchasers sign-in details. (The purchaser should first register themselves in the App so the others in the group can then use their sign-in). It's just the redemption code that changes for each person when signing in. We received 3 codes for the 3 of us. It was a great tour, great history, and really interesting stories and facts. I especially liked the history around the depictions in the stained glass windows and the legends behind some of the Arch Bishops! Would recommend.
Worked smoothly, received an email with link to download the app and tour code to download the tour. Loved the part where I could spend as much time in the cathedral and enjoy each artifact as opposed to a rushed guided tour where the guide is always in hurry. One improvement , would like some information about restorations.
Could not get app to work, could not get tour number to load, but fortunately was able to walk in the cathedral and look around, very disappointed
They don’t tell you the audio tour is thru your phone device and that you need headphones to listen…which my husband and I do not have. We tried to listen quietly with our phones and were not allowed to.
Be sure to have a device that you can plug in ear buds-they think you are talking on your phone when you are listening to phone. Not good!

The guide is easy to use and convenient. The information is well-structured. It is actually very focused on the stained-glass windows. I would recommend detailing the general history of the cathedral and its construction more.
negative: We could not look at the cathedral portal outside due to the crowd of people. We practically had to go into the cathedral immediately after showing the tickets. positive: Very precise description and background information on the individual works.

Clear explanations and easy use of audio guide, navigation between different items is simple...the map and photos are very useful
Fairly extensive listening tour. However, a lot of info about the stained windows. In my opinion a little too much and therefore did not listen to a few. I missed information about the crypt, treasury and renovation after WW II The information about the organs and the closed middle section are also completely missing. Great that you can listen to it with your own ears and phone and listen back later.
