What is sold as a 4-star hotel today wouldn’t have passed for two stars in the past. This property suffers from a massive, glaring backlog of deferred maintenance. The photos accompanying this review are by no means isolated incidents—this is the condition of the entire corridor. It is virtually impossible to find a single spot that isn’t damaged in some way. The overall impression is simply filthy and run-down. Even in the "renovated" rooms, of which I am currently occupying one, the doors and carpets are in a depressingly poor state. Renovation work is actively carried out while the hotel is fully operational. Breakfast resembles a scene straight out of the former GDR. Guests are forced to stand in a long queue, waiting to be assigned a table by a staff member who repeatedly disappears for extended periods, causing the line to back up even further. Yet, people seem conditioned to accept this today, standing in line with quiet, obedient patience. When I remarked that I would rather skip breakfast altogether because the whole setup reminded me of the socialist German Democratic Republic, I was merely met with blank, bewildered stares. However, when the breakfast-manager saw me a second time, his demeanor shifted completely: he was super-friendly and offered a practical compromise, clearly recognizing himself how absurd the regulations are. When I asked at reception for a postage stamp, I was initially met with a harsh, dismissive rejection, as if my request were an unreasonable imposition. On a positive note, the pre-arrival email communication and the handling of Amazon package deliveries were exemplary. Overall, this establishment is in no way justifiable by its exorbitant pricing. In this condition, it wouldn't have been rented out as a youth hostel in former times—yet apparently, this is the new standard in Germany.

I had a fantastic experience here, the room was luxurious, and quiet. Everything ultra clean & green. Very short walk from Hbf or West train stations. Päffgen kolsch around corner. Bar services excelent. The real winner was breakfast. Incredible assortment clean and delicious with great service, Front desk staff efficient and courteous, I felt like a valued guest. A big thank you to all who work there. Well done!
I have so far stayed at 5 different hotels(motel one, aparthotel, nh collection) in Cologne and I must say this one was the best by far. Bigger room, quiet for its central location, bar with nice atmosphere, comfortable chair and affordable wine selection, and most importantly a fantastic fitness and sauna facility. I will definitely book this place again the next time I am in town.
WARNING: Hostile Night Staff & Overbooking. Total Nightmare. My husband and I travel extensively worldwide for business and leisure, but we have NEVER experienced such shocking, malicious, and incompetent behavior. We booked this hotel many days in advance via Expedia specifically for its high-speed Wi-Fi to work remotely. We arrived exhausted at midnight after a long flight, only to be told they overbooked our room (and other 3 ones). Nobody notified us by email or call, we literally arrived at the hotel between 23:30- midnight and we're told that the room we already paid was not available. For the entire hour we were trapped at the desk, the night receptionist did not apologize ONCE. She lacked basic human decency: she left us standing after a long trip, never offered a seat, and didn't even offer a glass of water. Instead, she ignored us and made phone calls in German without explaining anything. I understood, although I dint speak German, that she was trying to book another place for us, but she didn't even ask us, to gain our Consent. When we explained that we have strict remote-work requirements and needed to choose our own alternative, she shamelessly and insultingly told me to just "use my mobile phone hotspot." When I called out her blatant incompetence and horrific manners, she completely became defensive, and abused her power by telling us we "were no longer allowed to stay at the hotel." Then she called a taxi to bring us to the hotel we chose, at least this is what she made us understand , but the taxi driver told us he had order to bring us to another one, which was not ticking out boxes. We politely refused and tried to explain the situation to the taxi driver and we went to another hotel of course. This woman is a massive liability to the business and fundamentally unsuited for hospitality. We were kicked out into the street past midnight.... Avoid this hotel at all costs if you expect to actually have a room and be treated with basic human respect. Absolute disgrace.. What a failure!
Very nice comfortable rooms excellent breakfast with a lot of healthy options. The rooms facing the road are not as quiet because of traffic and infrequent sounds of ambulance sirens. Internet was poor and spotty with frequent dropouts.
