By mistake I booked the hotel for the month of October instead of September and I found out once I was there. I had to find another hotel as they were fully booked. Once back home I asked to cancel the reservation, already paid, and they refused to do so, a whole month in advance. Of course the booking price was not refundable and didn't allow for changes. Legally it is correct that they didn't canceled the reservation, ethically it is not. Terrible behavior.
I was staying at this hotel for a work trip so it wasn’t my own choice, and I’ll give an objective review (I’ll try my best) about it. The location is very central and the service was super friendly and attentive. Nothing to complain here. I’d also like to mention that you can refill a water bottle with still or sparkling anytime at the reception, which was a super convenient self service! But I’ll have to say the comfort level is worth improving. 1. The website specifically mentioned the water temperature is always warm and comfortable, which was not the case. It was freezing cold. 2. The AC is not working in gym. Because the gym is next to the pool, the humidity was super hot and it felt like a sauna with a turtle 8:00 running pace…. You can also not open the windows. P.S. I honestly did not know single bed (i mean a really tiny bed. That’s how I imagine kids or teenagers sleep… ) room still existed. You could argue that it was on me to not have checked the pictures carefully, that’s why I did not put it under the negative part, but the room was also so small that I was in shock that a hotel room like this would exist… So in summary it’s conveniently located. But you should not expect anything beyond a bed to sleep on.
The room was very nice and comfortable, especially for a solo traveller. The hotel is also in a good location and it was easy to walk to the city centre. The only downside was that the sauna required an extra fee. I’m not sure if other guests also had to pay when using it at the same time, so this was a little unclear. The swimming pool was way too cold for me. Overall, I had a good stay and would recommend this hotel, especially for solo travellers.
The overall experience was ok, though way overpriced - typical during Gamescom. The staff was kind and helpful during my stay, but since then I have reached out several times without success to get something I have forgotten in my room shipped to me. I’ll change my rating if and when this situation get resolved.
The hotel has a good location. However, room 208 has a significant issue: the shower cabin located next to the bed produces an unpleasant odor, making the room smell as if you were in a toilet. This had a negative impact on the overall comfort of the stay. In addition, the self check-in process without any staff presence is a major disappointment. The lack of personal assistance makes the arrival experience impersonal and can be frustrating when guests need support or have questions. While the location is excellent, the odor issue in room 208 and the fully automated self check-in process significantly reduced the overall experience.
