Tomar Templars: Private Convent Of Christ Tour + Tickets

This is a fantastic tour of the Convent of Christ. So much history, so many interesting stories. Our guide Carolina was the BEST! She was so entertaining and full of knowledge. Our group felt like we had hit the jackpot with Carolina.

This tour was a highlight of our trip to Portugal. Our guide Carolina, a history teacher, gave us superb tour the Convent. She provided detailed information about the history and architecture of the Convent. She was able to keep the tour entertaining and educational. She was very good at pointing out small details in the artwork and intricate carvings of the building facade. The Convents connection to the Knights Templar is what made us book this tour but there is so much more to see. The Manueline style of gothic architecture is in full display at the Convent.

Carolina was an incredible surprise as our guide for the Nights of the Templars tour. Having a history teacher lead us made the experience truly exceptional. She was patient and gracious even though we were running late and had trouble finding the meeting place. Her knowledge of the Templars, Portuguese history, religion, and architecture was outstanding. She covered every aspect of life in the castle and monastery in a way that was engaging, vivid, and memorable. Her love for Tomar, the castle, and for Portugal itself was deeply felt and made the entire experience come alive. You could tell this place was personal to her, especially knowing she grew up visiting it, and that made the tour even more meaningful. I’m not sure I’ve ever been on a tour that felt so worthwhile. Carolina made it unforgettable, and it was absolutely worth our time.

On a cold day, the convent was freezing! But the tour was worth it. Our guide Sara was well versed on the history and special characteristics of the multiple structures. There was lots to see - indoors and outside - and just enough places to get warm for a few minutes. So glad we didn’t miss it.

Our guide was Miguel and he was very knowledgeable. Tour was well worth it! Learned a lot of small details about the history and architecture we would not have picked up on our own.

Our guide was terrific, so knowledgeable about the structure, the decorative details, the political history, the modifications made over time. She had a perfect command of English and had a lovely sense of humor. She took time with us, was patient with our wanting to stop to take photos. It was a perfect tour, exceeding our expectations.

Sara is a wonderful guide who artfully wove the story and history of Tomar, Covento de Christo and the chapel in a fascinating manner as we moved through the buildings. She thoughtfully answered our questions and we left with a deeper knowledge and appreciation of Portugal and its history.

We had a fantastic private tour with João Fiandeiro exploring the Templar Castle and Convent of the Order of Christ in Tomat. He is very knowledgeable about the Templars, the site, the symbolism, the history, and he was very good at answering our questions. We enjoyed it immensely and were able to expand our education on the subject. João Is definitely an authority on this subject. Highly recommended!

What a great tour! Zaida was so knowledgeable about the Templars, the castle and Convento do Cristo. She answered all our questions and pointed out the tiniest of details. It was excellent!

I thought our tour guide was okay, but he had a bit of a language barrier. There were some questions that we asked that he was unable to answer. We had to look the answers up when we got back to the hotel. We started the tour at 3:30, and we're done by 4:50. The price seemed a bit high for less than 1.5 hours.

I loved Rita, her passion and knowledge for the job and she was just fun to be with. The original tour I signed up for was something about the Secrets and Mysteries of the Templars. There really wasn't that much mystery or secrets to this tour. But a lot of information packed into this tour.
