Our guide Pedro was excellent and extremely knowledgeable. We were awed by the immense underground museum at Alianca on this tour. The wine from the region, particularly the sparkling wine, was delicious. We were very happy as well to discover Portuguese brandy. Amazing,

The advertisement was for wine tasting. We did little wine tasting. They had some sparkling wine at the first stop. The second stop had a big tour of the winery and a museum. The museum was huge. It was a nice collection of geological rocks, fossils, African art, etc. After an hour and a half tour, we finally sat down and had a little sparkling wine, and some odd other drinks. I didn’t sign up for a museum tour or odd little drinks. I signed up for a wine tour expecting to have a variety of white and red wines. We paid a good amount of money and didn’t get any of those. The tour operator was very nice and kind. But the whole set up was supposed to be for a wine tasting which it wasn’t. Sorry to say. The amount of money paid for this tour was definitely not worth it to us.
Great tour with even greater wine! Had a lovely time and got to taste some delicious wines in very beautiful places. Would definitely recommend this tour!
After a delicious traditional lunch of leitão bairrada, we visited the amazing Bairrada wine country, guided by the best guide: Xavier! He made sure we experienced the region in a way that fit our interests. The beautiful estates we passed reminded me a litle of driving through Bordeaux. Wines made from grapes traditionally grown in Bairrada, such as Touriga Nacional, Baga and Maria Gomes, are interesting and delightful. We stopped at the impressive Aliança winery, where the underground art collection is incredible. The visit included a tasting and tour. We also made a visit to a really nice tasting room/wine shop that represents most of the boutique wineries in the region. Highly recommend! This tour is perfect if you have only a day to visit this fascinating part of Portugal. Thank you, Xavier, for a wonderful day!
After a short drive from Coimbra we visited alianca underground wine museum. The museum was partly dedicated to an art collection of the main owner mostly from his travels throughout Africa. It had an amazing collection of minerals and fossils. The brandy barrels and bottles of sparkling wine were interspersed in stunning caves. The sparkling wine tasted delicious. We then went to a beautiful lookout over the vineyards before going to Curia train station for more wine tasting. Our guide Pedro was excellent and extremely knowledgeable about the wines and the region. Thank you for your recommendations , we bought some when we reached the Algarve.
This was such an amazing experience and far exceeded my expectations. I don’t typically like wine but I enjoyed all the samplings. The underground tour was very interesting as well. Our tour guide went above and beyond for us. I would highly recommend this tour.
Xavier was an excellent guide. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour & wines. Very informative. Highly recommend!
My spouse and I did the half day tour and it was a private tour with our very knowledgeable guide, Pedro! Pedro was so kind, was on time, drove safely and made sure our visits at both wineries were a great experience. The staff at both locations were also exceptional and kind, going out of their way to ensure we had a great experience! Thank you Pedro and team!!!!! Highly recommend!
Xavier and Bia were extremely knowledgeable, and explain very well, the procedure to make spumante, brandy and sangria. While going to the cellar we had the opportunity to see a wonderful exhibition from different parts of the world, which I appreciated very much. And after we went to another place where we got to taste four different types of wines. It was a lovely afternoon and worth going, I got more than what I expected.
Amazing tour and wines were delicious. The Underground was breathtaking. Our guide was wonderful and full of knowledge.
Xavier was an excellent guide and provided an excellent tour! The winery was interesting and the product very good.
Great tour. Experienced the local cuisine and some do the best wines with an awesome guide. It’s a must. You will definitely get more than just a simple taste
Very well guided detailed tour to Frei Joao and the tasting. The smell within the cellars. Xavier was introducing us the area and the winemaking, while taking us there by the comfortable van. A nice baira lunch with crispy meat and sparkling wine.
Our host was extremely friendly and we had a great time. The museum in the wine cellar was a true experience. He told us a lot about wine and his favourite places in Portugal. Obrigado!
Our tour of Coimbra, Buçaco and the winery was fantastic. Xavier was an excellent tour guide. I would definitely recommend this tour to others.
The guide charming, kind, funny, knows everything about wine and super welcoming. From high tips to tour and restaurants, good and cheap.
