We had an amazing experience with Barbara and Stefano, learning how to make authentic local food. They were so knowledgeable and shared their insights willingly, not just about the food we made with them but also on details such as what to look for when shopping for ingredients when we get back home. They were charming and witty and the experience is one we will fondly remember for a very long time. We would absolutely take another class with them!

Good atmosphere and most helpful staff all excellent
We had an absolutely marvelous cooking class. It was the last night of our family vacation and such a perfect end. My entire family came home eager to make pasta and replicate the recipes. Guilia was a patient and gracious teacher and made everything look easy. We highly recommend this experience and plan to take more cooking classes on future trips.
What a lovely experience! Barbara and Stephen were warm and welcoming, and the gorgeous setting couldn’t be beat! My daughter and I enjoyed learning and trying our hand at making bruschetta, gnocchi, and a fabulous fruit and cream dessert, then got to sit down and sample the fruits of our labor. It was a relaxed and memorable evening of fun, and I highly recommend it!
Food was amazing. Julia's cooking methods were easy follow, for all. I would highly recommend this class..
I cannot recommend cooking with Barbara enough! She was a phenomenal host and very patient with us learning to make traditional dishes! Thank you Barbara & Stephen for opening your home to us and a fantastic experience!!!
Very good Class. Couple have great personalities and we felt like family! Got alot of ideas from them.
Fabulous! The location was outstanding and Barbara and her husband were perfect hosts. We learned real cooking, but had a lot of fun doing it. I would highly recommend.
Our cooking class with Barbara was an absolute highlight of our trip! She welcomed us like family and taught us how to make fresh pasta and the most delicious tiramisu. The class was fun, hands-on, and full of laughter. If you want a truly authentic experience in Riomaggiore, don’t miss this! 🇮🇹🍝🍰
Knowledgeable chef shares her knowledge in an abbreviated class and experience. Beautiful surroundings and unique home. Be prepared to hike stairs or we recommend a taxi from the train station. We found it challenging to find and cell service got sketchy. Google said 18 minutes but took me 45 to hike it.
Barbara had a great personality and we enjoyed our experience, conversation, and interaction. We hope to make this recipe at home soon
Giulia was phenomenal! So warm and fun and smart. She was amazing! The kitchen is not large, but it really does feel like you’re cooking in a personal home.
Barbara and Stephano were amazing hosts and the views and food was also incredible. We arrived quite late as we had trouble navigating from the cruise ship and they were gracious and helpful the entire time. They even helped us to navigate to town and called a cab for my mom when the class was done. Our gnocchi skills still need a lot of work (we will practice we promise!) but I will always remember this experience. It was one of the highlights of my Mediterranean cruise!
Excellent cooking class! Guilia made pasta-making seem easy and something we could do when we got home. The finished product was delicious! She sent us the recipe and we were able to duplicate it back home. I think that’s a sign of a great class.
This was literally a hidden gem of an experience. Be prepared for lots of steps getting to the destination (wear comfortable shoes) but once you arrive it’s well worth it. Barbara (instructor) and her husband Stefano (assistant) were the most gracious hosts and welcomed us into their home for a 4+ hour cooking extravaganza. We learned to make pesto, gnocchi, and tiramisu then enjoyed the fruits of our labor paired with white wine from Riomaggiore. Thank you Barbara & Stefano for your generous hospitality and for helping us have such a memorable experience!
Cooking with Barbara was amazing! She has a beautiful home/view and so many great tips so that you can make the meals when you get home and more. So gracious and welcoming... Sharing a meal with her and Stefan was such a delight.
Absolutely once in a lifetime. Like being invited over by your Italian Auntie to finally be taught your favorite recipes. Barbara and Stefano are hilarious and warm and wonderful and their location is spectacular. Trust her, though, that it is hard to get to. Location not for the faint of heart. My girlfriend and I will never forget this experience.
We loved our cooking class with Giulia. She was so sweet and easy to talk with and absolutely knows her way around a kitchen. Her apartment was located centrally in downtown Riomaggiore and easy to find. There was just 3 people total in the class and she typically has no more than 4 or 5. Very intimate setting with a cute view and breeze with tons of natural light. She taught us everything from making the pasta ourselves plus the spinach filling for the raviolis and spaghetti with the left over pasta. We even made Tiramisu which was really really great! We all sat down and had a fantastic dinner with wine and great conversation. The stuffed Raviolis and pasta with pesto were delicious! Seriously some of the best if not the best pasta we’ve had in Italy. If you get the chance sign up for this class with Giulia! You won’t regret it. A fun way to see how the locals do it and learn along the way. She even gives a detailed recipe afterwards so you can try it at home. Bravo Giulia!
The view was incredible and our hosts were very welcoming. We had an experience of a liftime with Barbara. The food we cooked was sooo good, and we learned a lot.
The setting for this experience submerges you into the Cinque Terre life. Barbarino and Stephon make you feel at home in their home and share their life experiences through their cooking. We spent 4 plus hours cooking eating and drinking local dishes including pastes from scratch. I would do this day again and again because our host made us feel so relaxed. They made our trip very special.
We had a wonderful time with Barabra. She made us feel at home and took time to share recipes and give us hands on experience. It was a joy to be with her and her husband and the pups added a sweet touch.
It was a wonderful experience away from the Cinque Terre crowd. Barbara and Stefano are very welcoming. The view from the terrace where we had the class is beautiful, and the three dishes we cooked were delicious and made of high-quality local ingredients.
Barbara and Stefano were consummate hosts. Very authentic and engaging and very patient/supportive as we collaborated with them on a very fresh and delicious meal
Barbara and Stefano were amazing hosts, they have a beautiful place, the views, the cooking class, their sweet pups, the food, was fantastic!! Such a wonderful experience for my family of 4, including two teenagers. Definitely recommend!
What a great way to spend an Italian evening! Giulia was a wonderful host while we made homemade pasta, tiramisu and ravioli. She also sent all recipes of what we made and we can’t wait to make at home for our friends and family. Thank you to Giulia!
I want to set the stage in your mind and try to describe this unbelievable adventure. We drove to Riomaggiore as close to the cooking class location as possible, and luckily there was a parking garage. We located the house with the help of a very kind garage attendant, who also informed us of a weather alert (heavy rains) which they take very seriously. We got there early and walked around the beautiful town. It is like a postcard. We returned to the class location and sat there marveling at some older people climbing massive stone stairs, wondering how hard it must be to manage this task daily. We saw another younger woman coming down the same steep staircase, and it was Giulia, our chef/teacher for the evening. She led us through a maze of stairs and hallways up to a beautiful apartment and she welcomed us inside. We were immediately served some espresso and delicious cheese and meats to snack on while we spent time sharing about Giulis's family history and ours. Giulia was very good cook and explained everything, teaching us to prepare fresh ravioli and pasta, as well as a delicious tiramisu. We drank wine, dined on our creations, and had wonderful conversation. This is not just a cooking class. It is a MUST do experience!!
Excellent!.Barbara and her husband were prepared, fun and wonderful hosts. The food we prepared was delicious. We would definitely do this again.
Amazing time with Juliana. Very personal touch. I learned a few things. This Christmas’ dinner theme will be pasta dinners.
Absolutely loved this experience, Barbara and her husband were amazing. Great food, great conversation, beautiful home Authentic Italian cooking
Barbara and Stefano were very fun and so knowledgeable sharing family recipes for sauce, pasta making, pesto, sage chips, bruschetta and frittata. What a wonderful evening spent with a great couple.
Wonderful experience! Lovely hosts, beautiful location and delicious recipes! Can’t wait to try the recipes at home.
We had a great time! It was our third cooking class in Italy. The home was a little tricky to find, but in the end it was a great find. We had a great time with great people!
Wow! What an amazing experience! Barbara and her husband opened up their home, helped us cook bruschetta, pesto pasta, frittata, and tiramisu. And gave us recipes for other things. it was us three and two other lovely couples thank you Hannah, Jacob, Christina and Jeremy for a wonderful evening! Highly recommended!
Barbara and Stefano were wonderful hosts. We enjoyed learning how to cook with old family recipes, fresh organic ingredients (many from their gardens) and their entertaining stories. The setting is idyllic- and the finale to sit down family style and enjoy great food and local wine was a special memory. It was a day we will treasure!
My friends and I had an amazing time with Barbara and Stefano. The location was simply stunning with an outdoor kitchen nestled in the cliffs and vineyard. We learned about cooking techniques and recipes from her grandmother. Best experience of our Cinque Terra visit.
Unfortunately we were not told this experience wouldn’t be in the home of our hosts, and it was weather dependent and the dining table was under a vine covered porch. The terrain leading to the destination was very difficult to recognize and navigate. Less so when we left in the dark and the rain. We were unable to prepare the recipes and due to the rain we were unable to eat a meal. Instead we stood inside a makeshift kitchen to get out of the rain and ate our pre-prepared tiramisu. Despite all the negatives, our hosts Barbara and Stefan were very warm and inviting as well as apologetic for the weather delays and eventual premature end to our experience.
Barbara and Stefano were wonderful hosts and taught us so much about the local cuisine and how to cook it. We had a wonderful time, sitting on the deck of their home, overlooking the vineyards, enjoying what had been cooked with a glass of local wine.
Not being able to find the location and missing the event. Last minute details were too late to be useful. $640 wasted.
Just an incredible setting with an fantastic teacher. Barbara was a great cook and taught us so much in a little bit of time. Cannot wait to use her recipes. The views were stunning from the hilltop above Riomaggiore and the experience cooking outside was a treat.
Barbara and Stephen were wonderful hosts! Learning regional cooking in the outdoor kitchen was amazing! Definitely a highlight of our visit to Cinque Terre.
An absolutely perfect experience. My wife and I joined Barbara for a class in the hills above Riomaggiore. Barbara could not have been nice, more accomodating, or hospitable. She taught us so much about the local fauna, picking fresh herbs and lemons to use in our cooking, traditional techniques, local delicasies and differences from standard practice, all while making us feel like we were part of her own family. I'm sure any other cook from Cesarine would provide an amazing experience, but we felt like we won the lottery with Barbara and will never forget the experience.
We loved doing this. A great way to learn from Luca about the cultural history of the food, learn a skill, and meet new folks.
What a great experience! We learned a lot from Luca and the dinner was amazing! Luca gives the history behind each ingredient and the dish in a very memorable way. Thank you Luca!
Luca was a wonderful host and the meal was delicious. Super cool to learn about the recipes and their origins. Highly recommend.
Luca was our host for the cooking experience in Riomaggiore. He was highly professional, knowledgeable, funny and made the experience highly enjoyable. We had dietary preferences that he happily accommodated, and the food was delicious!
Luca was a gracious host and made us feel right at home. He provided the history of each recipe and was very detailed as he helped us to prepare our meal. Everything was delicious! We so enjoyed our conversation and the evening 😊
Participating in this activity is the first time and feels very fresh and fun. The teaching venue seems to be a hostel, rather than the real home of the locals, which makes me a little disappointed, but the overall atmosphere and interaction is wonderful, and the food made together is also very tasty, so it does not affect my five-star rating. Very interesting experience and I would recommend to others.
