It was really fun! We did challenge mode since we’ve done quite a few escape rooms over the years and it was perfect! You don’t learn anything about the city but Fulton Market is really cool.

We recently did the Escapely Fulton Market tour with s group celebrating my daughter and her fiance. We divided into teams and had the best time. The biggest problem was that the air quality was supposed to be horrible that day (Canadian fires) and we were afraid we were going to have to switch to a way to do it indoors. The way this game is set up, we could have done that- not nearly as much fun as running around finding things in person- but doable. Luckily, the weather cleared and despite some rain, we had so much fun. I really appreciate the detail they went into and the way they make it so people of all different levels could participate. Plus, we were able to have an easy pivot that we didn't need! Funny thing, as we were starting our teams off, we saw another group- a bachelor party- doing the same thing!
Clever and fun puzzles with not too much walk but enough to explore the neighborhood!
We had tons of fun, only downside was our safe lock was set to the wrong code, but otherwise it was fun! The first envelope clue was definitely the hardest, but we had fun finding the clues!
We had a great time with the game. First experience with escapely and it won’t be the last. Great packaging and great riddles and clues. Well thought out. Keep them coming!
I did this escape adventure with my 10 year old kids and my parents. Despite the cold weather, we all had a great time! We especially enjoyed the final puzzle, which we solved while eating donuts at Do-Rite Donuts & Chicken.
My husband and I had such a fun afternoon exploring the West Loop with the Escapely outdoor escape room. It was such a fun and unique activity to do, and would recommend to anyone who enjoys games and either exploring a new or familiar city! The clues were challenging but very doable.
Fantastic experience exploring Fulton Market and seeing what this great area has to offer. The location choices were perfect, and it took us all around the area!
Great time connecting with other colleagues and visiting a really cool part of Chicago all because of Escapeley! Enjoyed the time outdoors.
We had a BLAST with Escapely. The blend of movement/walking between clues hit the perfect ratio - it was enough to feel like we were exploring the area but not too much where it was a bear to get between locations. The furthest walk between clues was 4 blocks. The clues were GREAT, incredibly engaging. While we were in the alley by Trivoli Tavern yesterday, two gentlemen stopped and asked what we were doing (it was clear it was some sort of scavenger hunt). We showed them the Escapely box, the website and told them about the murder mystery scavenger hunt we were on, singing your praises as we were all invested in winning! They took a picture of the box and said they were going to reach out for a team building activity that they had coming up.
Great way to spend a Saturday bouncing around Fulton Market. Fun and challenging puzzles; a relaxing way to get your escape game fix!
This was a great experience. The puzzles were interesting and not too difficult. Fulton Market is a cool area to walk around, with plenty of shops and restaurants and unique little alleys.
My wife and I were staying downtown for our anniversary for a couple days. We both like escape rooms and exploring different parts of the city we are not familiar with. This excelled at both of those and we both agreed this was our favorite part of the trip. The Time Out section for drinks and snacks was the best part.
At first we were looking for something more difficult. It is easy to get in and challenging sometimes. We had to use the hints but at the end it was very funny and we enjoyed it!
Although it was raining, we had a lot of fun and learned a lot about the area. Really enjoyed it. It was a very clever puzzle with a few tricky clues but we managed to work it out and had lovely coffee and cake whilst doing it. Thoroughly recommend
This was my second Escapely game. I first tried one that was local to me and wanted to try one out in a city that I was unfamiliar with. It was a nice and fun challenge that really gets you into the heart of a neighborhood. You won't be covering the whole of Chicago but you do a bit of walking and depending on the day weather may be a factor. We also would recommend going earlier in the day as some of the locations hold events and need to shut down to set up. We were able to complete everything but it was close on one of the challenges! If you like escape rooms, board games, exploring or murder mysteries you should give this a try.
Such a fun way to spend an afternoon and get a unique view of a neighborhood! We loved how it was a combination restaurant crawl/escape room. The use of public art to help solve clues was ingenious! We'd love to do a different one in another city.
This was a fun activity for an afternoon. I would recommend it for anyone wanting to have a fun experience and see tjings in Fulton Market. My only iasue was the recommended starting location was under the train tracks making solving the first puzzles annoying with trains rolling by every 5 minutes. I would suggest starting a block or so over and then moving to thr first intersection described. I also wish the story was tied to the locations a bit more so that it was really integrated in to the neighborhood you are walking around. Also do not bring your pets as you will need to go in some places that don't allow them.
A quick online search for “fun Chicago activities” led us to Escapely. We’re big fans of escape rooms but we were also visiting Chicago with friends from Kansas, and it was the perfect blend to see a new part of the city. We LOVED IT. It was cold and snowy out but everything was close so it still worked out great. The clues were hard but not impossible and took some thinking, but we didn’t have to take a million hints (but definitely a few). We would absolutely recommend it and plan to look up Escapely when we travel to new cities again! Thank you for a fun, unique experience!
My partner and I did this over 2 days. (We didn't leave enough time with traffic the first day.) This is totally doable in an afternoon! This one was cooler than the one we did in Philly. We had to go into certain businesses to solve some of the puzzles and that was great. We also realized that this took us longer to do because we wanted to shop/eat at several of the stops along the way. I spent 6 years in Chicago and I never went to this neighborhood, so it was great to walk around and see things I wasn't familiar with. The clues for some of these were a trickier, but we figured it out! We only used hints twice. :)
We did this tour with a 7 year old and 10 year old who love mystery games, watching Spy Ninjas on You Tube, etc. We used to live in the neighborhood 10 years ago so it was fun to walk around and see how things have changed and explore the new places. I loved that the clues took you into places, we made it into an afternoon/evening long adventure and got treats and drinks along the way which broke it up. The clues were pretty hard for us adults, I have to admit we used a bunch of hints but the app did a good job of leading you in the right direction without giving you the full answer right away. I was surprised at how much the kids picked up on themselves, my 7 year old is pretty bright and she understood one of the harder clues before I did. Overall, great story line, the interactivity was really cool and the area was really fun to explore.
What a fun experience - amazing on all levels. One of the most fun evenings we’ve had with friends. Challenging but doable. Super creative and it let us explore an area we thought we knew. Highly recommend for friends groups, families or anyone looking to have a fun evening together. We loved it so much that we bought a version for another city AND will be doing the team building version with our company.
I did this activity with my boyfriend since we're both really into puzzles and escape room-esque games. It was a fun 3 hour evening which included stopping for ice cream and drinks throughout. The puzzles were easy/medium in difficulty and you never have to walk more than a few blocks in one stretch. We really enjoyed how immersive it was with the neighborhood. It was like finding real life easter eggs to an online game. I definitely recommend it for puzzle heads. I'd also say it was best for 2 people. I wouldn't recommend for a larger group. Lastly, it's probably best done in the daytime when it's still light out. It was a perfect date day activity and I would definitely do something similar again!
This is an absolutely amazing experience!! We can't wait to try Escapely in other cities. It was so much fun and an incredible way to experience our city in a new way, and took us to really cool places in Chicago. We love puzzles and escape rooms, and this is by far one of our best dates we've ever done. It would be perfect for a friends day, date night, or family outing.
My daughter received The Outdoor Escape Room as a gift from her Aunt since she was spending the summer in Chicago. Family came to visit in June and we spent the afternoon thoroughly enjoying the adventure. Got us to an area we would not have seen otherwise and really showed us the area. It was well done and very entertaining. I would highly recommend this adventure to anyone looking for a wonderful way to spend a couple of hours.
My cousin and I had a great time exploring an adorable neighborhood for the first time with this game. We spent about 2 hours engaged in puzzles, hints, searching for clues and finding very cool local attractions. It was a great time!
This outdoor escape room was an awesome experience! I completed it with two friends, and it took us about 2.5 hours (although we took our time exploring the neighborhood). Even though we are all Chicago natives, we had never been to this neighborhood and this activity helped us discover a whole new part of the city! It was better in a smaller group because the puzzles were sequential, and it was pretty straightforward (although definitely challenging!) what you needed to do. There were tons of creative puzzles and mediums, and we had a blast! Just be prepared... visiting all the fun different shops might make you hungry :)
My older son was looking for a birthday present for my wife/his mom and came across Escapely on Instagram. We really had a fun time doing it! There were a few tasks that were harder than the next - for Chicago the Time Out Market task was pretty challenging - but the game is well thought out enough to provide hints if you need them to help ensure a successful completion. While more like Clue than Amazing Race, we loved that it was in the city and a good activity to do as a family (high school aged kids). We'll look into doing in other cities when we can!
My friends and I had a blast doing the Chicago escapely last weekend. It was a wonderful way to explore Fulton market. I think it was challenging in the best way! The variety of tasks was great and allowed all members of our group to contribute. Such a well thought out adventure!
I completed this with my wife, 11-year-old daughter and 8-year-old son as a Father's Day activity. We thoroughly enjoyed the game! Outdoor "escape room" experiences like this are a great family activity -- taking the puzzle-solving fun of escape rooms but eliminating the stress and time pressure. The best part was the way the puzzles integrated real-world elements, both indoors at local businesses and outdoors in the neighborhood. The writing in the game was really well done -- clear, concise, and fun to read out loud -- though it could have used more local flavor.
Wow! What a fun and fulfilling experience! My wife and I are escape room fanatics, so we saw the Escapely outdoor escape room, and we knew we had to try it! We were not disappointed! The puzzles are accessible and challenging, with hints on the website as needed. We got to really explore the city, too, which made it even more fun. We saw places we had never been before, and it was cool to get our steps in while solving puzzles! What a great way to enjoy time outside and together. The way the puzzles interacted with real-world elements was really clever and immersive. 10/10 we recommend doing this or any Escapely game!
It was fun to explore a part of Chicago we may not have ever thought to go to. The experience also brings you into different shops and bars, which was a little odd with kids. It has you open the box and start the mystery on an intersection which made it hard to hear the video. Would be better to open the box and hear the video in the car before hand. We all finished with mixed feelings about this. The clues are challenging and the teens in our group lost interest halfway.
This was our first Escapely City Adventure box and we had a blast. The Fulton Market area was a great neighborhood to explore (even as a Chicago resident). The puzzles were challenging and fun but not so much that we spent too many hours on them. Great date night activity! Would recommend a warmer month than February :)
