We had an enjoyable, well paced tour of interesting buildings in the Loop with a friendly, knowledgeable tour guide.

The tour guide was wonderful. He explained everything and it was so much fun. The weather that day was extremely hot, so he was very considerate and kept us inside for a very good portion of the tour
Tour guide did not show up, did not respond to text messages, and call went to voicemail. Luckily, cultural center has free tours, which we took instead of this tour that do not happen. Amazing local guide from Chicago Greeter!
This was a great tour. Kevin, the guide, wove together architecture, local history and social history into an interesting two hours. Our teenager took a lot away from the tour as well. Kevin was engaging and interesting.
Our guide, Kevin, was the best. Very knowledgeable about a city he loves. Wonderful and very educational experience.
Marlin was great. He went above and beyond to make our experience wonderful. We learned so much about Chicago on his tour.
Kevin was friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. You could really see his love for the city and what he does. Great balance of landmarks and unique places off the beaten path. Would definitely recommend!
Guide was outstanding. Knowledgeable, proud of his city, and very friendly. I would highly recommend this tour. He runs other tours that sound great!
Kevin gave us an amazing tour of the El. We would never have found the sites on our own. Highly recommend this for culture, history or architecture buffs. Kevin covered it all. He is very dedicated to Chicago. Hope to be back for a tour with him in the future.
Kevin was fantastic. So knowledgeable and fun. We learned so much about Chicago’s amazing architecture and history
Small tour group, so very relaxing and personal attention by tour guide Kevin. He is very knowledgeable, a pleasant demeanor and easy to understand. Thoroughly enjoyed the tour!
Went in some beautiful buildings that we wouldn’t have considered without the tour. Kevin knows Chicago history well and had a lot of interesting stories. Nice length for a walking tour.
This was my second tour of downtown Chicago with Kevin of Wild Onion Walks...and he does NOT disappoint! His knowledge of the city and its history is so vast as he took us around the loop showing us important architecture and sites where events occurred in the history of Chicago. His communication in setting up the tour was very quick and at the end he gave us several recommendation's on where to eat . I highly recommend a tour with Kevin when you visit Chicago, he is the absolute best! Thanks Kevin for treating my family to an awesome tour and will see you the next time I am in Chicago! Take Care and God Bless! Cynthia
Absolutely a great tour! A hidden gem! Kevin is very knowledgeable, informative and very kind. He is filled with knowledge and great insight. If you like to know more about Chicago downtown loop, it’s past, architecture and history between 1670’s to 1970’s this is a great tour. He shows you places that you could not find by your self and explain its history in great detail.
Kevin is a wonderful guide and provided a one-on-one tour for me between Christmas and New Years. If you're visiting Chicago or looking to learn more about the city's rich history, then I recommend taking a few hours out of your day for this experience. Kevin will walk you around the Loop and through historical buildings to explain the development of the city. Highly recommend this tour and would bring my friends and family next time.
Kevin was outstanding in leading us around the loop. He planned stops inside when it got cold and wet outside that were most informative. He talked nonstop the entire tour, answering all our toughest questions- highly recommend this tour!
Great learning experience! This tour is full of facts and stories of not just architect but of Chicago's history. Kevin is a dynamic teacher and his excitement about Chicago is so enjoyable for his lucky listeners. Be sure to put his walking tour on the top of your list. You will love it!
I was the only person on the tour and Kevin was amazing! His knowledge and history of Chicago were excellent. He realized that I truly love the details and spent allot of time pointing them out. Super friendly, knowledgeable, highly recommend him for any city tour. You will not be disappointed!
Kevin was a great guide! Knowledgeable and enthusiastic! We had a great tour inside many magnificent buildings! Definitely recommend this one!
Kevin really knows his stuff. The former Chicago Public Library and the Marshall Fields Building were particularly interesting and memorable. The weather during our visit was unusually hot and humid. Kevin took care to adjust the pace of our walk to accommodate our needs.
Kevin was very kind, knowledgeable, and fun to listen to! His passion for what he does is apparent and draws you in! Very enjoyable tour, thank you!
Our guide Kevin was excellent & gave a wide ranging series of insights into history, architecture, & art. We realized these were buildings & spaces we’d walked past but never really seen. I was stunned by the abundance of mosaics. And will return.
Excellent!! We visited Chicago for two days with a group of good friends. We did the Loop tour with Kevin on our second day and absolutely loved it! Kevin was so welcoming and friendly, and his enthusiasm and love for Chicago make the tour interesting and enjoyable. Moreover, Kevin’s deep knowledge of Chicago history and of its architectural diversity and beauty kept everyone engaged and interested for the entire tour. We will definitely recommend Kevin and will be back for another tour with him!
Excellent guided tour. Very knowledgeable, interesting and fun. Interjected fun personal stories. Time went by quickly. Would highly recommend.
Great tour from Kevin who has both a depth of knowledge and an infectious love of his city. I felt like I know more about the city after his tour and it gave me an appreciation that far exceeded what I could get from a guidebook.
Kevin was an excellent tour guide. His knowledge of Chicago is expansive and helpful for tourists but also for locals like me and my wife, who have lived in Chicago for years but were unaware of much of the history of Chicago and the Loop. We plan on scheduling another tour with Kevin in the future. The weather was perfect when we went and we had casual banter in the middle of tour, which helped it not be too rigid. I would recommend for tourists AND locals who want to learn about the place that you may visit every day for work or school, but do not notice. We live in a beautiful city!
We had the pleasure of joining Kevin on May 22nd. He provided an informative and interesting prospective of the area toured. He was engaging and friendly and made for a great guide.
Kevin was very knowledgeable, friendly, bespoken guide. Answered all the questions from the group. Told many stories as well as profound information. He was very easily to understand despite the noice of the city (and English is not our native language)
Kevin gave us a wonderful tour of the famous Chicago Loop area. He offers a perspective that is hard to find, that is, from a native. He was able to give first-person narratives of how things "used to be" when he was a boy. We found this historic view informative and entertaining. His general knowledge of Chicago is encyclopediac.
so much interesting info, being from Chicago i was really surprised at how interesting he made the tour.
This walking tour was amazing. What is great about Kevin as a tour guide is that he totally tailors the experience to what is seeming most interesting to you. A can’t miss experience!
THis was a great tour and I highly recommend it. I took it during Covid and felt that it was safe to do.
Our tour guide Kevin was very informative and did a great job. I will definitely take another one of his tours next time I am in Chicago
Kevin is very kind and knowledgeable. He knows the city and the architecture very much. The spots he picked up is unique. It is a nice experience overall!
Kevin was the best tour guide we have ever had. By the end of the tour we felt like friends. His knowledge of the history of the city and the buildings was incredible. We even text him questions after the tour which he answered immediately. Everyone should take this tour!
Kevin was a great person to spend time learning about Chicago History with. A few times I asked about things that weren’t necessarily in our tour tract and he kindly took time to explain the additional sites. He wore a mask the entire time, kept us socially distanced from others and utilized hand sanitizer. I appreciate and recommend him.
Had a Chicago loop tour with Kevin. Very interesting and learned lots about Chicago’s history, architecture and famous Chicagoans. Highly recommended. Kevin is easy-going and obviously loves his hometown.
I haven’t been to Chicago since I left it, 45 years ago, after my 8-1/2 months sojourn there for grad school. I was poor and had little time, so whatever the Second City had to offer, I experienced very little of it. I'm not a big fan of tours, but I wanted to see what I had missed. So, this trip was actually pretty interesting for me. My first day, I took the Wild Onion architectural walking tour. It was very enjoyable and engrossing, primarily because I was the only customer, and so was free to take my time with pictures and talk with my guide, Kevin, who loves what he does. He showed me exactly the kinds of things I enjoy— Tiffany domes, interesting buildings, architectural details in buildings I would never have gone into, and lots of history. I knew that Chicago was a city of great architecture, but Kevin explained why. I was able to explain to him some of the Higher Hokum and Mystical Arcana that we were seeing in return. Kevin clearly loves his work. He is very companionable, informative, and polite. I had a very good time just walking around with him. We were old friends in very short order. It was two hours and $30 very well spent. If you want to see a Chicago that you would never see otherwise, and get an understanding of what it is, and why it is the way it is, this is the tour for you.
Words cannot be found to explain how good Kevin’s Loop walking tour is. One of the best and most interesting tours I have ever been on. Kevin is so enthusiastic about the architecture and so knowledgable as well. There was only my husband and I on the tour. We never stopped and saw so much that was totally unexpected. Totally deserves a five star review. Would highly recommend to everyone
Gave Kevin advance warning about our history skeptical teen in tow, and he absolutely nailed the tour for our group. Entertaining and full of facts and nuance without ever becoming pedantic. Encouraged questions. Loads of fun details I’d never heard even after living here thirty-five years. Will definitely use him again next time we have guests in town or I just want a new way of looking at Chicago. Thanks for a great Chicago morning, Kevin!
Kevin was both enthusiastic and knowledgeable about Chicago in general and the sites along our tour in particular. This tour keyed upon architecture located inside The Loop, and I think that Kevin was also very solid with the social and personal histories behind these buildings. I recommend this tour to anybody wanting a wonderful walking tour experience.
Kevin is passionate and knowledgeable and interesting. It was great to learn about Chicago and see some beautiful buildings and interiors (many of which we would not have seen without his pointing them out). The time flew by as he took us around, his enthusiasm was infectious and we learnt so much. Thanks Kevin for a great tour of Chicago, it was great to meet you and see your city, I feel like 5 stars isn't enough!
I had never been on a walking tour before and was pleasantly surprised. Not only was I lucky enough to have a one on one tour with Kevin, but he was so full life and energy and so knowledgable about everything he showed me, I loved it ! The inside of buildings took your breath away. You'd normally just walk by these dull buildings and inside you'd never believe what you'd find ! I'd definitely recommend this trip !!
Kevin is passionate about Chicago. He knows so much. He took us into buildings that make you catch your breath for their beauty. Here you are just walking by a buidling and then you step through the entry door and bam -- unbelievable "hidden" treasures. Who knew? Well Kevin knew and takes you right there over and over again. I'll take another tour with Kevin on my next visit.
We met Kevin for a wonderful walking tour of the building of The Loop. Kevin took us into buildings we would never have known about, showcasing the hidden beauty in so many buildings. Some of the interiors we saw were just jaw-dropping and Kevin's enthusiasm and his knowledge make this a "must do" tour. I recommend anyone visiting Chicago to spend two hours on this walk and uncover so many hidden gems with a wonderful guide.
I had the pleasure of walking around Chicago with Kevin a few days ago. He is a great guide - and his knowledge and love the city shines through. We went into many "hidden gems" that we would have overlooked without his tour. Looking forward to returning to Chicago to tour with Kevin again!
If you live in Illinois, or visiting this is a must tour. Went with a friend from Illinois into the city from the suburbs to do the tour. Well worth the trip. Amazing experience. Beauty of varied creative architecture.
Kevin was friendly enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Good mix of old and new sites in the Loop. We especially liked seeing the beautiful spectacular designs. Stained glass mosaics and iron work inside the old buildings. Exceeded our expectations.
Experienced a fabulous walking tour with Kevin today. I was lucky enough to be his only customer and received a great history lesson while walking around this beautiful area. He is so knowledgeable and enthused you can’t help being excited about it too. Not a lot of walking involved; a lot of listening is! But that’s why you are on the tour....enjoy!
Our personalized tour lead by Kevin, was the walking tour experience I had hoped for. His expansive knowledge of the history of Chicago along with the development of the area and the architecture of the various building styles was invaluable. We started at the Chicago Cultural Center, and if it hadn’t been for Kevin,we would have missed this gem’s interior. This was our first visit to Chicago and we are ready to come back and experience other areas specifically with Kevin.
