My husband really enjoyed the high views. We did the Ferris Wheel at night and caught the moonlight reflected in the water. He enjoyed it more than me and thought it was worth the money. I’m not a fan of heights. He recommends this activity.
We visited Chicago for three days in August 2026. We started our visit at a restaurant in Navy Pier, and also came for some shopping and lunch. The area is great for people watching. As mentioned, there are some restaurants and shopping in the area. You can also catch the site seeing boats from here. Like any tourist attraction, prices are elevated in the shops and restaurants, and there is music, fireworks, and other activities for the whole family. It can also get crowded. I enjoyed my time very much.
While we were at the Navy Pier sightseeing, we decided to take a ride on the the Centennial Ferris Wheel as neither one of us had been on one in a long time. The views of the Chicago Skyline were spectacular. We went during the day but I would like to see it at night next time. There are 42 enclosed, climate-controlled gondolas equipped with individual heating and air conditioning, making it a comfortable experience year-round. Remember that Chicago is known as the Windy City. Parking is available on the lot but fills up quickly on the weekend. We took the BigBus, which stops at many of Chicago's famous spots to visit. Tickets thru Navy Pier were $20 per adult for a 15 minute ride on the ferris wheel. They suggest morning hours after 11:00 am are less busy while weekends and evenings are more popular. For an additional fee, you can skip the long line. We enjoyed our experience.
Beautiful view of the city. Would go again.
We were so excited to finally make it to the Navy pier! Unfortunately, this was the night that had zero visibility for fireworks as we were there for the Fourth of July July, and weren’t able to return to grab the Centennial wheel discount. But we did have a lot of fun, even though you couldn’t see a whole lot we participated in rides, did a little shopping, and of course, had to go grab some ice cream and hotdog!
Great times very friendly and smiles everywhere
Ehh Great Views of the City but definitely do not pay full price for it
We were worried due to the weather, but we were able to still go for our ride. Took lots of pictures and a memory we will have for a life time.
Wonderful view of the city from the ferris wheel!
Such a great time! We went right after the rain and it was still an amazing experience. Very easy process to get on and off. Views were awesome.
Lovely view from the top. But those lines, whew! Doing it at night also made it seem more fun, seeing the skyline in the dark, etc. would recommend
It was so nice to just get right in line with tickets in hand. The ride had beautiful views and it went around more than once so you really get to take in the experience. Definitely recommend.
Ride was comfortable, views were spectacular! A little pricey at almost $50 for the two of us but it is a once in a lifetime experience, right? Shops and food at Navy Pier were also very good, We should have allowed more time to explore. We were there for only two hours but we should have planned for at least four hours or more.
The event was great but i couldn't access my ticket on the Viator website. Thankfully, the accepted my email confirmation as my ticket.
Great views of the area from the Centennial Wheel. Plenty of places to eat (not much shopping). Just a nice spot to slow down a moment and spend a little time on the pier.
I am so glad I purchased my tickets thru Viator. If I had waited to buy them at the venue we would have not made it on. The line was about 1 1/2 hours but because I bought them through Viator we were able to access a special line without a wait. That was such a relief. We had a great time at Navy Pier. Wednesday nights they light fireworks and so we were able to enjoy the show. Good place to visit a variety of food choices. Ice Cream on a summer evening, what more can you want.
Overpriced mundane experience. 3 rotation without any thrill. Ridiculous pricing for 10 minute elevator like experience
It was a great experience, we had awesome time.
It's cool. But I need my money back of faster cruise ride are you canceled and no giving me the money back
There are so many tours and food places at the Navy pier, as well as the wheel and the carousel. It’s also perfect for seeing the Chicago skyline and lake. Boat tours were all decent prices and we loved that you felt away from the hustle and bustle of the city despite it not being far at all.
It’s a very nice time to spend time with family and friends to overlook Chicago. Also, the trams are spacious and comfortable. When you visit Chicago, it would be nice to stop in Navy Pier and take this wheels.
it's alright!! if you're a big shopper and have a lot of extra cash, it could be fun! it's very touristy, so if youre a local or have been to chicago before, a lot of the stores probably won't interest you much as they're catered to souvenirs. the rides are kind of boring, they don't have anything that's super cool or out of the ordinary. a regular county fair or mall fair would genuinely have more to ride on. food is crazy overpriced, but for a fun once in a while time it could be fun!
It was fun. The line moved quickly. We went around about 3 or 4 times on one turn. The cars are air conditioned
The Ferris wheel at the Pier was relaxing. Just being able to sit back and enjoy a skyline view of the city was nice.
It was a great ride.I really enjoy myself
Bring a nice jacket or sweater and show up early and make sure you go to the ticket booth before looking for your boat
Not exciting. Overpriced rides
Navy Pier was a great place to visit while in Chicago. The views of Lake Michigan and the city skyline were beautiful, especially along the waterfront. There was plenty to see and do, with shops, restaurants, and attractions for all ages.
Great view of Lake Michigan! We try to ride “sky wheels” in every city we go to that has one, beautiful views day or night!
Beautiful view! The cars are air conditioned so it makes it perfect in any weather. We went on a weekday afternoon and there was barely a line.
Visited to visit the wheel as part of our GoCity pass. It was good, although individual ticket prices were steep. I didn’t find much else to do down there other than the wheel and things immediately around. Worth a visit but not mind blowing.
I am so glad I rode the wheel. This was a great way to see the city sky line. I bought my ticket onsite and got right on. I was actually impressed at how long I got to stay on the wheel, it was worth the money.
This is my second time visiting and unfortunately both times it has been colder and not great weather. I think the place would be so fun during nice weather. It's still a must visit if you come to Chicago. Ride the Ferris Wheel for great views. Tons of restaurants to eat and drink at, plus a few little souvenir shops and great city views.
A pleasant ride. My wife does have occasional vertigo, so she took her medication. And was fine. This was a daytime trip and in the rain, so the city view was not ideal. But the lakefront was spectacular. One time around was frequent stops for loading. Two more times without a stop. A good experience.
Easy on and off. Accessible for all ability levels. Great views of the Chicago skyline as you go around. Plenty of parking and snack and food options.
We were on the Centennial Wheel during the holiday fireworks. We stayed warm and the fireworks were beautiful! It was also great to purchase tickets beforehand so we didn't have to stand in line.
Riding the Navy Pier Ferris Wheel was such a fun experience! The views of the Chicago skyline and Lake Michigan were incredible, especially at night. It was smooth, safe, and perfect for families. A great way to slow down, enjoy the scenery, and make lasting memories—definitely worth it!
The Ferris will provide phenomenal views of the city. I’ll probably take us in advance and it was very easy in and out.. this is a very fast activity but worth it
Pleasant ride overlooking Chicago's Navy Pier and skyline. Glass doors and ceilings for each gondola/capsule seemed thick and insulated us from the cold air. Nice experience :)
Really enjoyed my visit to Chicago's Navy Pier Centennial Wheel (aka The Ferris Wheel). I was able to sit in a pod on my own, the weather was beautiful and clear so I could clearly see all around. It went “round” several times also which was great 😊
Great experience with a beautiful view!! Would definitely recommend and when visiting the city again will try at night to enjoy the lights!
Walked around the pier early in the morning - well 10.00 am, which is early in Chicago activities terms! Decided to ride the wheel last minute, however as it was so early there was no queue. Buying tickets from the machines, was a bit of a faff - luckily there was a member of staff on hand to help (although not the most patient person!). Walked on straight away, with no waiting time. Saw the city from a different perspective, although again some pointers for landmarks would have been useful. As it wasn't busy we didn't have to share a gondola with anyone, which was lovely and private. We did have appx 3 complete turns of the wheel so not as many as some but enough.
Great place to stop, eat and rest. Child and family friendly area. Lots of rides for kids. Went on through Centennial wheel, a bit expensive for 4 people,$94. The wheel had AC and it went around 3x. It was the air show that weekend so it was really cool to be at Navy Pier during that time.
TONS of walking! I had over 14k steps for the day after visiting the Pier. We walked from our hotel (Sheraton) and then back/forth 2x. All shops are indoors. We missed them all the first time down the pier.
There is so much to do in this area of Chicago. The Navy pier offers great views and lots of entertainment. We started at the splash pad on the hot day we visited which was next to the butterfly conservatory. On the top floor of the pier were rides and miniature golf. There are plenty of eateries and little shops to browse. The area was clean and had a cool vibe to it. Enjoyed walking around.
Everything went smoothly, we were able to get on three more rides with this booking. Bicentennial wheel, merry go round, and tea cup rides. It all worth it!!!
It was a really good experience. Well customer service. The line was not long , but it moved faster than expected. We enjoy seeing everyhting from up there.
Excellent activity choice when visiting Chicago. The Academy students were amazing, accommodating and professional. Loved this experience!
Pretty underwhelming view - whirling around in a circle twice after it taked 15 minutes to load/unload the 42 gondola cars. The observation deck on the Willis Tower is much more impressive of a view. Maybe more interesting for young children but there were eight adults packed into my gondola car and there wasn't much mobility.
