I had a wonderful weekend at the Viceroy celebrating my engagement. I planned a surprise rooftop party and the Banquet/Special events team of Robby and Dulce did a wonderful job helping me plan the event to ensure it was an incredible experience for everyone attending. The food was great and the bartenders (José and José) did a great job making tasty drinks. The hotel as well was in great shape, we loved all the amenities and the room! We will definitely be coming back to the Viceroy the next time we are in Chicago.

We hosted a surprise engagement party on the rooftop and truly couldn't have asked for a better experience. From start to finish, the Viceroy team made this night one for the books. The bartenders, José and José, were absolute stars — hilarious, incredibly skilled, and so great at taking requests. Our guests loved them. The food was a huge hit, with the wrapped figs and crab cakes being particular crowd favorites. What really set the staff apart was their flexibility: they extended our bar time by 30 minutes when they saw how much fun everyone was having, and accommodated a last-minute fries add-on without missing a beat. That kind of attentiveness makes all the difference when you're trying to pull off a special event. We also stayed two nights in one of their rooms, and it was equally impressive — a stunning space with a gorgeous soaking tub. We were welcomed with champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries waiting for us, which was such a thoughtful touch. The front desk staff and valet team were warm and professional throughout our entire stay. A special thank you to Randy and Dulce for going above and beyond to make this event truly memorable. We'll absolutely be back.
I never write bad reviews, but I don’t want anyone having a horrible experience like we did. Would never stay here again. Advertised on numerous platforms that they provide electric car charging; that feature was removed a few years ago and their team “was supposed to make sure third parties stopped advertising that” and failed to do so, even with several years time to do so. We then could not use our car nearly as much as needed and had driven 8 hours there so that we could use it instead of flying. The pool was completely murky for the entire stay and unusable in August. One afternoon we went to check again and a rude hostess at the door said “they’re setting up for an event; they’ll kick you out.” We said, we’re just checking if it’s clean yet for ten seconds; she then said well they’re gonna kick you out again, never making eye contact and staring at her phone. Mind you, this was within guest user hours and the curt attitude was not appreciated. They had maintenance working on it and it was never cleaned by the time we left. The manager was extremely dismissive and offered zero reconciliation, even though she admitted they were accountable for what third party sites advertise. She wouldn’t refund the expensive parking either as compensation, since we had to park our unusable car now, that she could have taken off the room bill. There was also zero disclosure that the pool was not usable; a main reason we chose this hotel. She seemed much more eager trying to push us spending money at the hotel restaurant. A senior management staff member helped minorly remediate our frustrations and I mean very minor. The mini bar prices are not advertised and the reason is so they can royally rip you off. Of course hotel minibar prices cost more; these prices are like 6 times the cost in store. This is not the way any luxury hotel operates, except for the valet staff who were always very sweet and friendly.
Booked for The rooftop pool, and it wasn’t even open past 5 PM the first day we were here and the second day was not open at all. The rooms are OK at best. I think the Marriott is more comfortable to be honest. Staff is super friendly and helpful. I will say that. But the 4 foot tiny pool on the top is certainly not worth it. Lol. The location is decent, but the rooms are not luxurious in any capacity. They are a little musty honestly and need a deep clean and an upgrade. Not the worst experience, but definitely not a great one. I’m not a person that typically leaves reviews so it was annoying enough for me to leave this one….
Stayed here recently, July 10-12. Great location, seconds from morning park with Whispers for coffee and chill by the fountain. Seconds from Gibsons, Carmine’s Maple & Ash, and many more restaurants and retail. Our bellman/ all around awesome attendant, Mark, made an awesome welcome each time we entered the hotel or needed help. We missed him the day we were there and he was off. Pandan on Friday night was a great atmosphere and drinks were amazing. Lead bartender was a bit “stuffy”. Coming from Indiana, most bartenders hang for comfortable conversation. He did not, but he made a great drink. We met a really great manager of facilities, maybe that was his position, but he was super friendly and rode up the elevator with us on the last day of our stay. Front desk staff was efficient and attentive to our needs. We needed an extra key, clothes steamer, etc. Valet filled the role just fine. Noticed our car on the street one day before we checked out. I told the valet and he took care of it, just crossed wires between front desk and valet. It caused no harm, but thought I would mention for hotel communication improvement. While we were out at whispers in the park each morning we came back to a made bed and fresh towels. Great housekeeping. Room was comfortable. Bed was soft and linens were high quality. Pillows were awesome. Elevators were fast. We stayed in room 1301 and rarely waiting on the elevator. Ate at Somerset, I had a great burger and my husband had a chicken sandwich. Good spot for nice outdoor seating and a quick bite without a reservation. No complaints at all. Great weekend. We plan to visit here again. Clean, quiet, comfortable, with amazing location. Double shout out to Mark! Stay cool dude!
