Just checked into this hotel with a high end art tour groupfor 6 night stay. I guess a drew a short straw. No bureau, had to clean the shelf in the closet to be able to put clothes there. I’ll be using my suitcase as a “bureau”. Room is very small. When I complained to the staff they said it would be three days to get a room the size of what our group paid for. I would be very wary of this place. Make sure you ask for a desk and a bureau! Update, the room safe is broken and can’t be fixed, so now I have a second safe on the one table in the room.

I absolutely loved my stay at The Talbott. The rooms are gorgeous and full of character—elegant and distinctive without ever feeling like a generic corporate chain hotel. I also loved the Grown Alchemist products in the room, especially the lotion, which was such a lovely touch. What made the stay truly special, though, was the staff. There is a genuine warmth to The Talbott that makes it feel almost like a family. That feeling extends to Laurel, where you see neighborhood regulars coming in night after night. It gives the hotel a wonderful sense of place and makes you feel like you are staying in an actual Chicago neighborhood rather than simply passing through a hotel. I especially want to recognize Carlos G. at the front desk. During my stay, Chicago was under a tornado warning, my flight was cancelled, and I suddenly found myself desperately needing somewhere to stay for another night. Carlos went above and beyond to help secure a room for me. He was patient, attentive, empathetic, and incredibly kind during what was a very stressful situation. I resoundingly recommend The Talbott. The beautiful rooms are reason enough to stay, but the people are what make it exceptional. I genuinely cannot wait for my next visit.
I am a Bonvoy Elite and am coming to Chicago for an important and meaningful Father/Son weekend soon. i looked into a few of the best Hotels that is under the Bonvoy label. i called a few to get some info and the Hotel that stood out was the Talbot. Phoebe at the front desk took the time to answer my few questions with patience, care and positive energy. We SO appreciate that! Brian was super nice too. We NOW know where we are going to stay when we are in Chicago!
Great hotel. Restaurant downstairs has excellent food. Only having two elevators results in long queues. Do your part and take the stairs to descend (don't be surprised when there's garbage, junk, tools, and other crap in the stairwell).
Overall a good Marriott experience. Staff were very nice, the water heater worked, AC worked. I would say water pressure is certainly something that needs improved. The bed was comfortable and the room had decent amenities built in. However, not having a real working desk is quite odd. The room was large with enough space, but there was no actual desk. So may not be the best choice if you're traveling for work. I would stay again if the price is right!
