I've stayed at this brand of hotel before. The rooms are comfortable and clean. Excellent customer service. This older building was renovated, and while the rooms and restaurant are nice, the lobby is very cramped and small. The location can't be beat. Walking distance to the museum and other attractions. Public transportation very close by. If you're looking for an older building that highlights its charm, this may not be the best option. Staff was very accommodating and were able to hold our bags after check out. Check in is 4pm and check out is at 11.
Absolutely exceptional! The cleanest hotel ive stayed at in YEARS. Service from front desk, to concierge, to housekeeping, to room service was top notch. Absolutely felt safe and welcome and the location is unbeatable! Also one of the comfiest hotel beds I've ever had, I slept great. Updated TV's so you can stream your services, plenty of lighting and windows even open a little crack If you prefer fresh air over AC.
I am writing this review due to the excellent service that I received from Kiera at the front desk. I arrived to the hotel frazzled due to accidently booking the hotel room through a third party vendor. After hours on the phone with the company with no resolution, my vacation was starting out on a bad note.
Kiera instantly calmed me down and handled the situation and I was able to enjoy the rest of my trip. If it had not been for Kiera, I do not know what I would have done. Word to the wise, book directly with the hotel.
Regarding the hotel, it is in a good location and the beds are comfortable.

We really enjoyed our stay at Le Méridien Essex Chicago. The hotel felt a step above the average hotel we've stayed at. Everything was clean, modern, and had a more upscale feel without being overly fancy.
Our room was comfortable, quiet, and had a great view of the city. The bed was super comfortable, and after long days of walking and working around Chicago, it was nice to come back to a room that actually felt relaxing.
The location was perfect too. We were able to walk to Grant Park, Millennium Park, and plenty of restaurants, which made getting around really easy.
Overall, it was one of the nicer hotels we've stayed in, and the service was great from start to finish. We'd definitely stay here again the next time we're in Chicago.
We had a wonderful stay, thanks to the helpful staff. When the temperature dropped overnight, maintenance was promptly sent to our room to adjust the heating. We also appreciated the front desk's recommendation for a late-night pizza delivery spot. Plus, we received daily credits to use at the on-site restaurant. The rooms were clean, and the location was perfect.
