Today’s trip is educational, informative and inspirational. We visit the Doi Tung Development Project, a major environmental and socio-economic development programme initiated by Her Royal Highness Princess Srinagarindra, the mother of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej. This innovative project has upgraded the standard of living of local people; provided them with more educational opportunities and public health services; and introduced agricultural development and practices that are more sustainable and environmentally friendly. We also head to Wat Phra That Doi Tung, a temple that sits atop Doi Tung, the tallest mountain in Chiang Rai at approximately 2,000 metres above sea level. It comprises of twin Lanna-style stupas, one of which is believed to contain the left collarbone of Lord Buddha. The journey to Wat Phra That Doi Tung is a bonus – you will view breath-taking scenery overlooking Laos and Myanmar. On the return to the hotel, we visit some ethnic hill tribe villages.
