Rural Explorer Mountain Biking Tour Chiang Mai

We booked the Rural Explorer bicycle tour. Pick up at the hotel was smooth. We went to their office then left from there to start the tour. The riding was great. The guide was excellent.

One of my best experince in chiangmai Spectacular and calming views along the cycling route It is a bit challenging for me who do not do cycling often. But the whole package is definitely rewarding and fruitful. Thank you Lek and Tik for bring me this unforgettable experience.

Amazing morning with Lek and Tik. Lek is an experienced biker and explained us what were the farmers doing in the fields. It was also very interesting to know about Karen tribe. The çandsvape is also beautiful. Really recomended experience if you want to visit a part of Thailand that is not touristic.

My wife and I had an amazing experience with Trailhead. We really wanted to do a bike ride while we are in Chiang Mai but we aren't experienced mountain bikers. The staff at Trailhead was so accommodating -- they were able to find us a suitable ride on short notice. Our guides, Lek and Kom, were fantastic from start to finish. They made sure we were comfortable with the gear, took amazing photos and videos, and kept us well-hydrated and fed throughout the ride. Lek's insights on the rural communities and knowledge of the area truly enriched the experience. Riding through the Chiang Mai countryside, farmland, and villages was an unforgettable experience and a great way to get back in nature after spending so much time in cities.

Although it was raining, we had a really fun tour with Lek and Tik. Everything was perfectly arranged, from the transfer to the bikes, the F&B, the pictures/video’s and the encouragement to climb the steep hills (for Dutch people not very easy). They also shared some nice facts about the surroundings. All in all a must do when visiting Chiang Mai. No better way than to get to know the beautiful area of this part of Thailand.

Great experience! The guides, Lek and Vivi, were both super friendly and helpful!!! The ride was long and hard at parts, but it was gorgeous countryside. They were super patient when we went slow (or walked the bikes up hills). Lek was giving my teens lots of tips to improve their technique. It was totally worth the work :)

We did the rural explorer with our two boys, aged 6 and 8. It was a great experience, helped by good communication before booking and also an excellent guide on the tour itself. Beautiful countryside and decent bikes. Plenty of water, snacks and good food at the end. A great adventure, all in all.

Excellent team and guidance! Really beautiful route to have a deep immersion in Chiang Mai mountains. The food was delicious also. Thank you for this amazing experience in Northern Thailand.

Very well organised, pickup at the hotel followed by a coffee and overview of the day. First the waterfall, a short hike through wonderful nature and then on the bikes. Just must do this when you want to experience rural Chiang Mai, the mountains with paddy (rice) fields ... ending with a great meal. The guides are very knowledgeable about the area and make sure everybody's enjoys the ride.

This was AMAZING. One of the most beautiful bike rides of my life. Our guide was superb. There was a “recovery” car following us in case we got too tired and at various pit stops the driver from the car would bring us water and fruits which was fabulous. One of my best vacation days ever. Also, I am not a very good biker and the guide was so helpful in walking me through changing gears on hills (I recognize that most people would not need this kind of help) and he was super patient with me when I wanted to stop and take a rest or take a photo. Just a glorious day.

We loved the tour and felt safe the whole time! It was challenging but still fun. Thank you Kom for looking after us! Next time we want to try the harder routes.

Very good organization, very nice team, good price. The tour we did was a great way to discover the country side. What is reassuring is that there is a car following the group at all times, so if somebody is tired (which did not happen for are group) they can always finish the tour in the car.

An amazing day. Started with a short hike to some wonderful waterfalls. Then off on the trails on our bikes. Very fun ride on some back roads and pretty rough trails. Wonderful food was provided. This was one of the best organized days I've even been on. Highly recommended!!

Pick up was on time as scheduled and free coffee was given during the short briefing. There was a short walk to a waterfall and caves prior to the bike ride, which was interesting. Bicycles in my estimation were of quality but well used. There was a lack of any safety equipment other than helmets that were provided…no bicycle gloves, or padding for knees and elbows. An excellent Thai lunch was provided at the end of the ride. All in all, it was a quality adventure at a reasonable price which I would recommend.

Good experience, the staff were professional and takingcare very well. This is my second time to join their activity and will be the next time for sure :)

A great day with a trip to an amazing waterfall on foot followed by a great ride through some quiet Thai countryside with great views and rolling roads. A few hills to get the heart pumping. Plenty of refill stops, sticky rice, water melon, coconut and a top quality meal in a waterside restaurant. All the guides really helpful and knowledgeable and couldn’t do enough. In addition they took some great photos and videos which were sent out after the ride. Would definitely ride with Trailhead again.

The staff made it such a great experience! Their sense of humour, knowledge and skill level. They understood our abilities and encouraged/coached when necessary. Such incredible scenery! Very well organised and so glad we did it! We got to see Northern rural Thailand!

the tour was fun but also a bit challenging with the rain and mud. some roads were flooded, however the guides were able to find alternative routes immediately. we were provided with fruits and drinks along the way so i didn’t feel hungry even though lunch was at the end of the tour. some parts were challenging for me especially the slopes but i still managed to finish the journey. overall, it was a great experience

The tour and the view was great Vivi and James were amazing . They are so Nice , professional, warm and patients for any needs , requests , feeling and changes kids asked during the tour . Really enjoyed our day out with Trailhead. Some stunning views along the way. Super professional and took good care of us. They also helped take some photos and videos along the way for us which they emailed the day after our trip. The bike ride was listed as easy (it was not very technical), however there was quite a bit of up and downhill riding so probably more enjoyable for those with a moderate level of fitness. Definitely recommend following Trailhead for tours.

What a great day out with the family. The guides were pleasant, helpful and professional. The day was well planned and we had our support vehicle following where we could leave our bags, they made plenty of stops for supplied cold water and to catch our breath. They also had some pop, watermelon and coconut. The route was just the right amount of challenging with lots of fun hills to bomb down. The views alone were worth the price of admission. Photos and videos were also included in the price whereas many tours charge extra. We were a family of 4 with kids 13 and 15.

My family and I enjoyed a great trip into the mountains and fields outside Chiang Mai - on the way to Pai - in Mae Ping, drove past rice paddies and through bamboo forests, saw various orchards and enjoyed a lovely Thai lunchon on a lake. Had great guides Khun Lek and Ahkom who came with us on the trip. Lek was guiding on the bikes and explaining about the surroundings and Thai life and Khun Ahkom was driving behind and helping out with everything. Higly recommended as a great fun day out while in CM! Thanks!! :-)

We had a great trip with Trailhead. A beautiful mountain bike ride, that was not too hard, through a beautiful rural valley north of Chiang Mai. Kom, our guide, was great and super helpful, and all of the logistics and management were handled to perfection.

Lek and his team was absolutely amazing! So helpful and professional. I was not feeling well today and they were spline and accommodating throughout. Someone stayed with me the whole time so I can do the biking in my own speed. The countryside is absolutely beautiful. This is such a wonderful experience! Highly recommend!

We took the "Time Traveler" trail which was 3 hour city tour (12km) in November. I was with my husband and 11 year old son. All of us were first timers and Arkhom, our guide, had a good command of English so communication was no problem, he had a good knowledge of the historical sites and temples we visited, and he was very patient with us and I was confident even crossing main roads as I knew he knew what he was doing. Even the snacks and the lunch was a splendid reward after. This company is highly recommended.

Nice bike ride that gives you an idea of ​​what the country looks like. More unpaved roads would be more fun. All in all a hilly ride with beautiful views and the ideal way to discover the beautiful Thailand nature.

Had a great tour with Kom. I was surprised that Trailhead did the tour for one person, and Kom was very considerate in changing the route so we did less 'going up' cycling. It was a very hot day and certainly tested me, but altogether a lovely way to see Chiang Mai away from the city. Would certainly recommend Trailhead - very professional.

Had an absolutely great experience with Trailhead during the Rural Explorer mountainbike tour in Chiang Mai District. Guides speak English very well, they explain everything and are super nice. I'm from Holland so I basically know how to cycle a normal bike, but had no experience with mountainbikes; but this didn't matter at all! It was a little challenging at some points (especially due to very heavy raining) but that's what makes it nice right? I haven't felt unsafe at all and at the end of the day you feel tired but so so satisfied. Oh and very nice Thai lunch is included. Thanks for the wonderful experience and I could recommend it to everyone who's looking for a special kind of adventure and see a different side of Chiang Mai!

These guys arrived to pick us up on time. They spoke good english, they had really god bikes and helmets already loaded for us. We drove up into the national park and then had a three hour ride through the hills and rice paddies. There were two guides riding with us and a truck travelling behind if someone needed it. They had some nice little touches. They had ice cols water, we all got a fresh coconut at the end of the ride and we stopped for a great lunch on the way home. Two of the guised were competitive cyclists so they were quick to help out. There was good attention to safety and all it all we had a great day. The biked here all it great shape and were good bikes to start with so you'll have no issues with the equipment.

We cycled partly on road partly off road through the beautiful rural area not too far from Chang Mai. Despite the rainy weather we have a had a great time thanks to our guide, the good equipment, the great environment. The catering was very well including fesh cocunut at a beautiful temple location as well as a very tasteful lunch at a hide away spot which was also very enjoyable with great views. The ride as such is very well doable, sometimes a bit steep for us flat landers :-) but that is probably more due to our endurance. At the end you get pictures and videos at no extra cost which is a huge benefit. We can recommend this very well.

We booked this tour as we were drawn into the trendy shop and the people were instantly friendly. We booked a tour for a few days later. We are a family of 6 with 8/7/5/4 year old boys. We were slightly worried about how the boys would be on bikes on the road but we didn’t need to worry. The trip was so well thought out and organised. There was 3 adults with us ensuring the safety of our family at all times. Our bigger 2 boys had their own bikes which they buzzed off and our younger two were on mine and my husbands bike. It was magical exploring the many little alleys and streets that we would never have explored. The lunch was amazing at a small local restaurant and we were made so welcome. Along the way we had fresh fruit from the local markets and water. It was such a fantastic experience and the boys said it was the highlight of their time in Chiang mai. Booking up was so easy with the staff being really helpful in pointing us to the right ride for our level of ability/fitness.. The tour guide was very friendly & helpful and took plenty of good photos and videos to remind us of the day. He was exceptionally patient with me as I really struggled in the heat and had to keep stopping. Highly recommended.

I believe that Human Resources is the most important property and the source of competitiveness. A bad staff can ruin all. On the orther hand, a good staff can make impossible possible. The Reason why I choose Trialhead again which I have mentioned before on my last review last year. Wanna say Thank You to the Trailhead team, you’re awesome. Your passion, kindness, obliging and thoughtful really make me feel like home.

Excellent day out with Lek and the driver who took us for a great day riding bikes in Chiang May. I was impressed by the fact that we had a support vehicle right behind us during the whole journey. Lek was always attentive. One of the best experiences I had during this trip abroad and I will try to do more here in Brazil. Thank you all :)

It was really good experience, the view is so nice, and in the middle of the way we can see a big Flower trees with its leaves falling on the hill, look like an Korea romantic movie. The team is very supportive and also motivating us to finish, and even to take many beautiful pictures, (catch the right moment when we are pretty enough, not the moment when we were blushing and sweating trying to ride up to the hill haha)...though that i shamely give up in the middle stil... Surely next time I will come back and do the tour and finish what i started. Valuable every pennies and second!

I went experiencing Chiang Mai with 3 more friends and had not thought how challenge it was with this bike tour. We had thought it was simply biking around the rural with flat roads and looking at the field of gold rice. Actually, there were some long uphills requiring us boost our power to complete. But it was really great going around, we love travelling by experiencing challenges of that land. Lek and Kom were also great guys in enthusiastically guiding and taking of us within the tour.

We have good time with nice guides. It's been great experience ever! Thanks Lek and Kom for their kindness and inspiration.

What a wonderful experience!!! The ride was certainly challenging with some decent hills to climb. It certainly helps to have a moderate level of fitness. Trail Head is a very professional outfit and I highly recommend them. Thank you KOM and the team!!!

We had a great trip with trailhead. Is was fun and a leaning experience. Our guide KOM was very good at explaining about different things on the way. If we visit Chiang Mai again, we will definitely book a tour with trailhead again!

I went on the tour this month of september with Lek .We were driven out into the countryside ,and visited a nice waterfall before riding . The ride is quiet back country rroads undulating ,and very scenic ,nice rice paddy views and some Longan and Rambutan trees .There was a litlle bit of heavy breathing from Lek as he tried to keep up with me on uphill ?? haha .. Trailhead are a great bunch of people .2 hours riding was clearly enough for some participants .

Did my first outdoor biking finally. Thanks Joe for the recommendation and Kom for the arrangement, he is a very good tour guide. Highly recommended to join Thailhead, if you are beginner and wanna explore more about Chiang Mai...you will fall on love. For sure, will come again and take my next challenge!!

Spent 3 days in Chiang Mai and wanted to see the country side of North Thailand. We loved the rural explorer tour with our tour guide 'Lek'. Pick-up at the hotel, welcome coffee at Trailhead office, then 1 hour drive to the country side of Chiang Mai. Started first with a quick stop at the Mon Fa Waterfalls (short walk & swim), then a great bike tour across the country side of Thailand - rice fields, local school, authentic villages, breath taking views... Was definitely one of the many highlights of our Thailand trip. Would recommend the tour to all families spending a few days in & around Chiang Mai.

Really great day out. Picked up at the hotel and after a little paperwork we were on our way. The guys were really well organised, and adjusted the riding pace/difficulty to suit our group. Great way to explore and see a different part of Chiang Mai region, as well as getting a good stretch of the legs. Definitely worth doing.

We were in Thailand for 15 days and our mountain biking ride with Trailhead was the best thing we did the entire trip! It provided some of the best views of Thailand, and the day was extremely well organized. Though this is likely more of a reflection of our fitness abilities, but my husband and I felt this "easy family ride" was quite hard. We certainly felt the steep hills and humid weather, but it was challenging in the best way possible. I would HIGHLY recommend this company to anyone who wants to see the natural beauty of Chiang Mai. I only wish they offered these rides in other cities!

We both enjoyed our rural explorer day out. We saw some great sights and good to get out in the countryside. We first thought a van following us wouldn't be necessary but with the heat and hills it was great to have some fresh water and fruit avaliable at the top of each hill. One hill was a lung buster and everyone struggled but other than that it's not to difficult however the heat takes it out of you. The staff are very acocmodation, food amazing and the scenery is spectacular. Some very nice downhill sections to let your wheels spin. If we come back to Chiang Mai we'd definitely look at doing this again.
