We had a fantastic time with our tour guide, Puma, on the Chiang Mai Food Tour. She was very knowledgeable and provided great information about the food, Chiang Mai and the culture of Thailand. The food of course was amazing and plentiful! Thank you so much Puma for providing us such a fun experience with you and showing us some insight into Chiang Mai.

Itinerary
Our feasting tour of 15+ tastings invites guests on a culinary experience around the Chiang Mai led by our team of professional foodie guides. Our award-winning tour has hosted over 2,000 foodie travellers in groups no bigger than 8 exclusive guests. Before we get started, our tour reflects the local cuisine and the limitations of street food vendors means we unfortunately cannot cater for every dietary restriction. Here's an honest appraisal for the tour so no-one is disappointed ✘ Unsuitable for vegetarians, pescatarians and no-pork diets ✘ Unsuitable for shellfish, peanut and severe allergies. ✘ Unsuitable for severe gluten intolerances, there are traces of gluten in soy sauce. ✔ Suitable for lactose intolerances. ✔ Suitable for no beef diets. If you are feeling adventurous for a foodie journey, read on!
Don’t follow the herd. Forget green curry and pad Thai, that's central Thai fare. Hop on board our private songthaew truck for four hours of feasting. Hit up the street eats and fresh markets across the city gorging on 15+ Northern Thai tastings. Many are unaware that this used to be the Lanna Kingdom well before it was part of Thailand and its food influences come from neighbouring Myanmar, China and beyond. We don't want to spoil the surprise, but some drool-worthy highlights include the zingy nam ngiaw noodles, the meaty larb salads, the sizzling lemongrass sai oua sausages and piquant nam prik relishes among many more lip-smackingly good tastings at places you'd struggle to find alone.
The tour concludes at the local Wararot Market along the Ping River. Enjoy local hospitality and meet new friends along the way. End the tour armed with the knowledge you'll need to continue eating street food across Thailand.

Great food tour, a lot of delicious and interesting options. Loved the crickets.
The food was excellent although we didn’t eat Khao Soi, which I expected. You will be stuffed halfway through so try to pace yourself. Or don’t and just accept your food coma later. Lol. The vegetarian Burmese food wasn’t my favorite but it’s all part of the experience. I even ate a couple of crickets. Crispy and salty was all you get from it so be brave and try them! Our guide Indy was great.
Flavors of Northern Thai was wonderful evening. Lucky only me and coyple from Switzerland. Puma did amazing job explaining flavors, influences and how some of the owners started their business. Even treated to a couple Myanmar dishes!
Fabulous tour! Highly, highly recommend! Went to places we never would have found on our own and got to try many different and delicious dishes. Our guide, Aim, was kind, thoughtful, friendly and very knowledgeable not only about food but also about Thai culture and history. A thoroughly enjoyable experience!
Amazing experience! Our guide AIM was wonderful.
We went on this tour with Indy on the day we landed in Chiang Mai. It was a fantastic introduction to the city and its food. We were taken around in a red taxi which made it alot easier especially in the heat. Come very hungry, there is a wide range of different local and interesting restaurants & markets. Highly recommend this tour
Incredible tour and great value. So well organized with no issues whatsoever. The guide was super friendly and met the group at the meeting spot on time, the tuk tuk driver was super friendly and drove safely, all 6 stops were unique and mostly foods that I never would have found on my own. Best of all, it was fun and engaging and I learned a lot about Northern Thai culture and cuisine along the way. Highly recommend. (American, mid 40’s male, solo traveler)
Come hungry because there's alot of food to eat, convenient transport to each restaurant, great tour guide, rich history behind each dish, and enjoyable experience for food lovers. Recommended tour!
This is Tour is a nice introduction to the food of Chiang Mai, but I suggest you don’t eat the whole day. The food was all wonderful! The guide was informative. Be sure to pace yourself.
This was an excellent way of experiencing the old town of Chiang Mai. You are taken to different parts of the city in an open van, stopping at 6 different locations. Each location offers a different and varied culinary experience. Our tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable and the people we met on the tour (6 others) were great fun. All in all a really good way to spend 4 hours getting to know the vibe of a place. You eat a lot so don’t plan to go out for supper afterwards!
Our guide, Indy, was wonderful, kind and informative. We were ferried around the city in a ubiquitous red car and Indy made sure we had no wants or worries. Very fun, very delicious and very filling. Great food tour. Highly recommended. 👍
This was such a great experience. Our guide did such a wonderful job explaining not only what we were eating, but the history behind each of the shops we stopped at. The amount of food we got at each stop made it well worth the price. If you enjoy a variety of foods this is well worth it.
The food was amazing. A wide selection of different food from the region. Our guide Aim was very informative about the history of Chiang Mai and the food we were served. A great evening out and a way to familiarize yourself with the different types of food available.
We had a lovely food tour in Chiang Mai. It was us and 3 other individuals. Our guide was kind and informative, but rambled at times to the point that we struggled to understand the story and/or context. The tour consisted of 6 stops. The first two were great with tons of food. The third was the market, which we did not enjoy. The market was only half open and it felt awkward as we followed our guide as she picked up food from a few places. We then had a “picnic” at the market at a random table. In reality it was not the most pleasant experience or way to experience the fruit and food offered, and it drug out for a long time. The fourth stop was a vegetarian restaurant with an interesting background. The fifth and sixth stops were food stalls at a street market - both fantastic! If the tour skipped the weird market stop it would have definitely been a 5 star experience. I wish we had more time and food at the last two steps as they were incredible. Overall it as a great tour, but not one I would recommend to friends.
We had a fantastic tour trying lots of different Northern Thai dishes and learning about the history of the city. We visited 6 different places and tried 18 different foods. Our guide was great. I would recommend this tour, we did it on our first night in Chiang Mai which was a good introduction, come hungry because there is a lot of food
This is a great food tour! You get to try so much food, more than I could even eat! You learn some history too which was nice.
Aim was a great guide who provided lots of information and plentiful and interesting food. I can highly recommend this tour.
Our guide was spectacular 🙏 the bbq was my favourite.
Aim was excellent. She gave us a ton of history about the area, the food, and the culture. The food was incredible but come hungrier than you've ever been in your life! We stopped at some amazing spots and got to try some dishes I would never have picked out as a farang. Aim explained all of the food, ingredients, and even back-stories of the restaurants themselves. She gave us a much more authentic experience than I was expecting. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone wanting to see more of the city and try delicious and unique food!! Thank you Aim for the best experience. 🙏
I couldn’t recommend this tour highly enough. This was the fourth food tour across Malaysia and Thailand I did over three weeks and it was by far the best. Aim was such an effervescent and knowledgeable guide and the transport between spots in the back of a somgthaew was great. This wasn’t just a tour of generic Thai food; every dish was authentic Northern Thai, Isaan, or Shan/Tai cuisine typical in Chiang Mai. Expect to leave feeling full; you get to eat so much food. The highlight was the northern Thai style fermented pork in banana leaf. Hats off to Aim again who was an amazing guide! This tour is a must do in Chiang Mai.
What a terrific tour we had with Aim our guide. An introduction to food, places, history and culture we would never have found on our own. Highly recommended.
The tour was very informative, and do come hungry because there are many food options. I learned a lot about cultural difference between Northern Thai cuisine and other common Thai dishes. Our tour guide, Aim, was so responsive and very professional, but she also cracked many jokes as well. It was a delight! I highly recommend it for all the foodies people!
We were absolutely thrilled with our tour in Chiang Mai. Our host, Aim, was an absolutely wonderful guide who went into great detail about the history of the region and how it shaped the food we were about to eat. For the dinner tour we ate a lot and we ate well while being taken all over the city. The tour is long and has many stops, come hungry. Would strongly reccomend!
Great Experience. I would recommend this trip. The food was delicious!!
This was a fantastic tour! Aim was an amazing guide - very funny and knowledgeable, and we went to places that I never would have found on my own. I would give Aim six stars if possible. All the food was delicious. Very fun!
Moui was awesome. She showed us all the best places to eat in Chiang Mai for extremely cheap but top value, which is exactly what I wanted. She also gave us some experience in the market which makes me feel less intimidated maneuvering them on my own now. I've been eating at the places she recommended ever since and saving a fortune compared to eating at the tourist restaurants in Nimman. Perfect if your thinking of spending some more time in Chiang Mai and want to try the best food there.. For cheap!
The best experience I had in Chiang Mai! You get to taste over 15 of Chiang mai's best for such great value. The tour was perfectly paced and our wonderful guide P'Aim really made sure the experience was perfect. She is so knowledgable, interactive and accommodating. With her, I felt as if I got to know so much about Northern Thai cuisine.
This food tour was incredible. From start to finish it was a feast for all senses. Our guide Indy (spelling?) was wonderful and the places she took us to were sooo delicious. Each dish was a riot of flavor and spice. Come hungry. The tour lasts 4 hours and you will leave stuffed. But you will absolutely not leave disappointed. Book it now and taste the best food Northern Thailand has to offer.
We absolutely loved this tour! Our guide, Moui, was incredible. She had such an impressive amount of knowledge about the history, culture and food of Northern Thailand, and her English was honestly better than mine 😂 — which was very impressive! Every single dish we tried was delicious, and what we loved most was being introduced to so many foods we probably never would have thought to try ourselves. We discovered so many new flavours and dishes that we absolutely loved. Moui made the whole experience so interesting, relaxed and enjoyable, and you could really tell how passionate she is about sharing the food and culture of Chiang Mai. 10/10 experience and we would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Chiang Mai!
Ive been on a lot of food tour and this one’s separates its self from the rest. It was so much more than just food. Aim was the narrator of the history behind these wonderful dishes. Aim was the best tour guide I ever had.
We had previously taken a food tour with this same company in Bangkok and it did not disappoint, so we thought we’d do the same when we got to Chiang Mai. We had a lovely time with our guide this evening. She had so much knowledge of the history and culture of the north of Thailand. A must do when you are in Chiang Mai.
This food tour was great! Our tour guide Aim was amazing and very knowledgeable about all of Chiang Mai. And she had jokes haha. Highly recommend this tour for anyone. Come hungry, we were all full by the end.
Excellent food and also historical and cultural perspective - overall an outstanding experience and perfect way to learn about Chiang Mai! Aim was a terrific guide, full of stories, history and personal insight. Very educational and fun!
Moui was our amazing guide. She shared tons of information along the way. Historical, culinary and fun facts! She always had something fascinating to tell us. We had so many amazing food tastings that we had to skip the last two stops and go right to dessert! Everyone was full to bursting! It was a good problem to have. We had a nice red taxi bus to take us between all the stops. It was raining but we didn’t really get wet. Overall we loved this tour and would even do it again if they had a second different option. We do food tours in every country. This was great!
Cannot recommend enough- a wonderful evening we will remember for a long time! Local food, local people, local history… we tried food I would walk past in the market and while some of it was a little more unusual it was all amazing and everyone had a ball. So nice to get out of the tourist spots and understand just how passionate people are here about food and how it is integral to identity. Thank you for an absolute highlight!
We had a wonderful time on the food tour! Learnt so much about the cuisines of Northern Thailand and their origins. Moui was friendly and increibly knowledgeable!! Definitely recommend!
Moui was an excellent guide! She was incredibly knowledgeable about the food, the local culture, and the history of the region, which made the experience even more enjoyable. She went above and beyond to make sure everyone was satisfied at every stop, always offering additional food if anyone wanted more. The food throughout the tour was outstanding. We visited six different locations and sampled more than 15–20 different dishes, giving us a fantastic taste of authentic Northern Thai cuisine. Come hungry—you definitely won’t leave this tour hungry! I highly recommend this experience, especially if you’re looking for a fun, delicious, and informative way to explore Chiang Mai.
What an awesome and fantastic experience. I cannot recommend this tour enough. We got to experience local eateries that I may never have experienced. It was an awesome taste bud sensation with lots of flavours and different types of food to experience. Our guide, Moui was brilliant and gave us some history note food and the region. Thank you for the adventure.
Great experience all around but in terms of quantity it felt a bit short for me vs the price charged, compared to some other food tour with the same company, especially when you know the price of street food in Thailand. Our guide was very kind and shared lots of interesting knowledge with us.
This was a great tour! The food was delicious and our tour guide, Aim, was amazing. Highly recommend if you are looking to expand your palate and eat at local spots.
A fantastic evening with lots of tastings and a culinary tour of Northern Thai food. As well as a deep dive into spices and flavour profiles, the tour gives you a food history of Thailand. So many delicious items to taste and such a knowledgeable tour guide, this is one of the best food tours I’ve ever done. Totally recommended!!
This is a brilliant tour, and the small group size makes it very personal. Moui was our guide and she was full of information and interesting facts. You hop around in the Rot Daeng to 5 or 6 stops and at each one try something different. You need to skip lunch and come hungry! You try loads of food you wouldn’t ever think of if you weren’t introduced to it by an expert - it might surprise you but no Khao Soi on this tour - it’s all more adventurous and interesting than that (and i love Khao Soi, but this takes it up a level)! Highly recommend it. Only regret is leaving the next day and not having chance to revisit some of the places we went.
We visited six different places: a big restaurant, a couple of mom n' pop style ones, two stalls, and a market. You get to sample various dishes of pork, chicken, water buffalo, vegan dishes, local fruit, and market snacks. We personally had only four people total in our group so it was smooth, small, and intimate.
We had a great time, far more food than we could eat but we were able to take the extras back with us. Our tour guide was kind and knowledgeable.
Great experience! Tried a ton of unique types of food.. ate so much we were incredibly full.. come hungry!
Aim was an amazing guide and took us to many places where we tried many different dishes. Aim has an extensive knowledge of local history and food. We learned so much. Highly recommended
I went on this trip, having been to Chiang Mai once before but not exploring the food too much, other than the touristy Khao Soi etc. This food tour, explores many lesser known dishes and snacks which local Thais eat and also invites you to try food from Myanmar, northeastern and central Thai cuisine and more. My tour guide Muy was incredibly passionate and very knowledgeable about all of the dishes and the history behind them. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone wanting to get a deeper understanding of Thai food culture!
Moui was an awesome guide, and introduced us to some very unique and delicious food. We would recommend this tour to everyone, especially if you already tried Thai food in Bangkok because the northern food is so different. We loved it!
Muai was lovely, super knowledgeable about Northern Thai cuisine and the different influences from Burma and China and how the food in the north is different to the south. I wasn't overly thrilled to find out that some dishes had blood or bile in them until after I'd eaten them, that made me feel a bit duped, but the dishes were relatively tasty. Didn't love being presented with a plate of crickets!!! Hahahaha, but overall a very good tour
