What an amazing cooking experience and it was educational too. We made 3 different Thai dishes with each of us having our own kitchen area and utensils. Tom yum soup, Pad Thai and a choice of curry- red, green or Penang. We finished with mango sticky rice. Don’t eat before you go as this will make up for a lunch or dinner. Too bad they didn’t have a gift shop open yet. You do get to scan a WR for recipes tho .
The cooking coass was just a fun and amazing experience. The chef Garnet was outstanding. From the market experience to the cooking class she made it top class. Its a really value for money. The class was conducted in a beautiful atmosphere. We had nice time in the garden and with the hens. So much fun. Grandma cooking kitchen is a must !
This class is great. The food was delicious, our teacher (Patrick) was professional and friendly. The farm/location are beautiful. My only disappointment was the “market” stop, which seemed totally unnecessary. I do recommend this experience, but I might choose the evening class which omits the market stop.
We had an amazing time. There were so many people doing the tour, but at the same time it felt so personal and fun. It was great for the kids, age 9 to 14.Our instructor Best was really the best. He had a class of around 10 people, and was still able to give everyone personalized attention, and even communicate with the ones that didn't speak English. Someone in our group had a birthday that day and she got sung to with a special mango sticky rice cake, and we didn't even tell the staff beforehand. Highly recomend!
Whilst the guide/instructor was very sweet and lovely and the activity did what it said on the tin, this place is a massive operation and I found it rather impersonal. In our ‘group’ there were 12 people and this was multiplied several times on the property so it was very busy with close to 100 people per session so it did feel ‘factory like’. It would have been a much more enjoyable experience if there were less people so if that’s what you’re looking for, this place isn’t for you. That said it was well priced and all the staff were lovely.
We were 2 couples and had a private experience with Roger. We went to the market, shopped for ingredients and some to take home. Then we prepped and cooked our fabulous meal. Each of us our own cooking station and we actually cook our own food. Everything we cook was delicious. Roger was great. Patient and fun. Definitely a must. Definitely ask for Roger.
This has been my favourite experience of my trip so far! From start to finish this experience exceeded my expectations in every way. The guide Mac was very warm and helpful and the Farm is absolutely stunning!!! If you are considering booking you absolutely must 🫶🏼🍜🥥🌶️
Very well organized. The farm was very interesting and educational. It helped me to understand how these wonderful dishes are created from so many complex flavors and aromas. Classes were fun and tasty! Our chef (Joyzza) was second to none!
Incredible experience. Highly recommended. Garnet could not have been a sweeter, kinder or more helpful instructor/host. We made three truly delicious Thai dishes with a mango sticky rice for dessert. Come hungry. All recipes given at the end. They thought of everything!! Loved it!!
The actual market, and farm tour, and the cooking class was amazing!! It was at a steady pace, but felt totally manageable as an amateur cook. Only note on the logistics side: our big cooking group were split into several transport busses. We had to wait ~20 minutes for another group to get onto our bus before we could leave the market. We also waited for ~30 minutes after the set time to be picked up.
Such a fantastic experience. Jimmie was brilliant, cannot recommend this highly enough!
So much fun. Loved the tour of the herb garden and grounds. Brian our instructor was really funny and a great chef!
Excellent time and experience. Would highly recommend it. Including in the experience was a talk on the origins and purpose of the ingredients used in Thai cooking and preparing, cooking and eating 3 dishes.
The cooking class was fantastic! Patty was a great and funny host, she taught us about all the veggies and ingredients we were gonna use to make our dishes and great instructor when it came to actually cooking the food. The complex is also beautiful, well worth the visit. The only reason I don’t give it 5 stars is the pick up situation is chaotic. I didn’t receive any information on who and when they were picking us up. The reservation says 9am but the driver arrived at 8:15am and we were not ready. He was kind enough to wait for us but we would’ve appreciated a heads up when we were going to get picked up. I sent a message through the Viator app the night before and never received a response. However, after pick up everything ran smoothly and the food and experience were a 10/10. Would recommend this cooking class to anyone visiting Chiang Mai!
Pickup was a bit chaotic (only the ticket states that pickup time ranges from 8:30 to 9 for morning session) so many people (ourselves included) were not ready. Once we made it to the facility, it was a great experience and very smoothly run. You make/eat tons of food so come hungry. Overall, would definitely recommend.
Great experience at Grandma’s Cooking School in Chiang Mai. Our teacher, San, was excellent — very knowledgeable, well organised, and managed the class smoothly even though the start was delayed. The place was beautiful and the food tasted amazing. I feel like I know the cuisine much better and would happily do it again to learn new recipes. The only downside was transportation: pickup was delayed by about an hour, and drop-off took much longer due to traffic and multiple stops.
More than I had hoped for. We were picked up on a nice van and taken to the market where our guide (Rachael) walked us through the various seasonings and noodles and ingredients. She is extremely knowledgeable and very friendly. Then on to the school where we were shown the fresh herbs we would be using. The instructions were easy to follow and we got to eat each course as we prepared it. It was truly amazing. Highly recommend. A highlight of our Chiang Mai experience.
An amazing and educative experience. Now I can make better my pad thai with the right sauce taught from the chef. Thanks !
We had the pleasure of working with chef Rachel. She made it an informative and engaging experience. The cooking tips were great and the food was delicious. We’d highly recommend this experience.
The cooking class was very good. The chef communication was easy to follow. The farm was very nice. The weather was perfect. We had a blessed.
Really interesting and exiting! I was there with my Dada and we are both fully enjoyed the cooking experience! Totally recimmend
I had cooking class years ago but when I arrived Grandma’s, the size and scale of the place amazed me. So big, clean, IGable. In general very fun and easy to follow, I went with my 70 yo dad and 8 yo kid, still managed to cook the dishes in ease, and we all went home with a full heart and belly. Last but not least, Jimme you were a star who gave 200% to the class!
So much fun. They picked us up at our hotel and took us home afterwards. The group we were with we all had individual cooking areas. We created our own menus. We walk through the garden and learned about everything. Even got to have fresh eggs from the chickens who were laying them. It was just amazing experience and we loved our chef hostess who was Tay.
Great experience, a wonderful instructor who was patient and helpful. The cooking was not difficult, and the food was tasty!
My wife and I had an AMAZING time at Grandmas Cooking School. Our instructor Levin was very funny and very informative and made us feel at home. The instructions were clear and we all made DELICIOUS meals that were probably our favorite thing we ate on the trip. We ate Hot and Sour soup, red curry, pad Thai and the mango sticky rice. We got to see the local market, learn about the ingredients we would use, see them in the beautiful garden on the grounds of the beautiful cooking school, and then alternate between cooking a meal and eating. This was immediately one of our trip highlights and we will recommend to anyone, with a specific shout out to Levin.
Best activity I did in Thailand - Grandmas cooking school goes above and beyond to get confidently you hands on with cooking delicious food, and I really appreciated the market and farm tour too. The highlight of our tour was our guide however, Garnet was the most encouraging, informative and fun teacher who made our experience very special.
Such a great experience exceeding expectations - beautiful setting- menus flexible and wide range - Roger our chef was wonderful/funny and made it even better Great excursion in Chiang Mai
Lovely way to spend a day. Come hungry! We're vegetarian and every single recipe was easily adapted. Stunning surroundings and cute chickens.
A great experience in Thai cooking. Roger our chef trainer with his humor was very engaging making it very enjoyable. Would recommend to those who love their culinary and enjoys cooking. On departure my phone got left behind. Upon realizing contacted Roger who drove out and met our transport at a point and delivered. So appreciative for him going out of his way to get it to me. Also, grateful to the group who were on the cooking experience for their patience as we waited for the phone. Overall an amazing day.
I loved it so much! I would 100% recommend it. The instructor was so kind and good teaching, the ingredients were so fresh and I will definitely never forget this.
It was such a special experience. Welcome to WOTEE, career, career and dessert mango!I liked to eat Thai food in ThailandI want to participate next timeThank you....
I cannot recommend Grandma’s Cooking School highly enough. We had a fantastic half-day lesson. The school is in a beautiful setting where they grow all sorts of ingredients used in the dishes. Tay was a great instructor and we loved everything she had us cook and it was great value for money too. Thank you for an unforgettable experience.
Great morning. Lovely setting and fabulous food. The cooking was great fun, the food delicious. We all enjoyed the morning (ages 13-57!) and came away with some new recipes to try when we get home. Would really recommend as a great fun morning out.
Fantastic day cooking dishes with the family. Visited the market in the morning and then cooked soup, curry and pad thai. Visited the vegetable garden also. Wry well organised, loads of food, teens aged 18, 15 loved it. Levin, our chef was the best!
It was an amazing experience! Our instructor Jimmy was very knowledgeable and funny! And the food was absolutely delicious! I can't recommend this cooking school enough!!
We loved this! The food and experience were great! Stopped at a market on the way for just the right amount of time!
We did half day cooking class with Best as our chef and he was fantastic!! 10/10 would recommend It was a very hot day but they have shade / fans. I did request the air con room when I booked but we weren’t put in that group, didn’t want to cause a fuss so didn’t say anything but there is an air con room available if needed !
A really enjoyable and well-run cooking class while my wife and I were in Chiang Mai. We did the 11:30AM to 4PM session, I didn't want to allocate a whole day. The van picked us up and brought us outside of Chiang Mai to a local market. We were given a chance to walk around a bit first, then Joy (who was great) went through some of the key ingredients to familiarize them to us. A bit more time for us to get a snack/drink or purchase something on our own, then we headed to their farm. The farm had a series of long covered areas with a number of cooking stations including one in the front of our area for the instructor. We saw her first make the item, then we went to our stations where some more complicated items were prepped and we did the rest. Things like coconut milk or water for the soup were preportioned and ready for us. We were given a small form to select which proteins we wanted for each dish, or vegetarian, so that after we made each dish they could bring out a new fresh cutting board and the right ingredients depending on what we wanted to cook. For our class we had: Thai sour soup, either regular or with coconut Pad Thai Choice of curry (I did green) The dishes were well demonstrated and pretty easy to follow the steps to make ours for ourselves. It's not as hard as you might think. Really well run, I'd definitely recommend this company if you want to learn how to dip your toe into cooking Thai.
We had a great time at Grandmas Farm Cooking Class and Patty was a big reason why. We went with a 5 year old who was able to participate in cooking and Patty soon had her checking everyone’s cooking with her. A little stool would be a great addition for children who book on, but it didn’t impact a great deal. She loved feeding the chickens and picking out an egg. We learned a lot about the agriculture on the farm too. Patty made sure to tell us how we could change the recipe to make it to our taste, more sweet, more sour, extra spicy or no spice. The welcome drinks were delicious. It doesnt matter which you choose they are all delicious as we got all three in our group. Most importantly the food was delicious and easy to follow along. Links for Recipes and more professional photos were a good free addition. I highly recommend the morning sessions so that you can go to the market and buy some items to cook at home. Thank you Patty. ❤️ If you end up in her group you are very lucky.
The "farm" where we cooked was nice. Enjoyed the chickens and relationship of the cook with the chickens. Meals were good. I thought we were supposed to get a copy of the recipe. We never received a copy for any of the meals we prepared.
We had Jimmie as out host for the day who was absolutely amazing. Jimmie made the cooking class interesting, funny and entertaining. We done the morning class and it was all so organised we were so full afterwards.
Our guide-chef Jimmie was hilarious and a lot of fun! The cooking site itself is really impressive with demonstration gardens. The cooking rooms are very cool and the class sizes are perfect.
Really great experience. Collected from hotel and taken via informative market visit to the school. Bryan our chef was clear, interesting and informative. The whole cooking experience in small groups (we were 8, but the kitchen would only accommodate 10(12?)) while still being allowed to choose what you prepare and cook form a menu was great. We cooked two different soups, two different curries and two variations of pad Thai. The school location is a series of lovely shaded open air kitchens in a garden setting. Having cooked and eaten it all we were fed for the day. Great value and thoroughly recommended.
This was such a great cookery class, from the smooth pick-up to the fun team of Jimmie and Roger. Really well organised and interesting, great value and left the farm so full. Best day in Chiang Mai so far!
Good experience. The market visit is nice to get to see the ingredients. The farm is very big and have lots of stuff growing. The cooking class is easy to understand and worh delicious resorts. The guide was also very nice and with good english.
a truly amazing experience, cooking with natural ingredients, simply explained in beautiful surroundings by an expert
This entire experience from start to finish was fantastic. First they met us at an outdoor market where they took us around and showed us so many different vegetables I knew nothing about. Then we went to the cooking school. How fun it all was, and so much food we made and ate! Our teacher was just wonderful. Can’t remember her name, but see picture. First she took us to the organic garden, and taught us about a lot of the vegetables we would be using. We got to feel, touch, and smell some of them. We all had so much fun making our dishes and then eating them. Make sure you come hungry, because it’s a huge amount of food. Besides the cooking experience, the place is just gorgeous. It’s a really fun place to take lots of pictures.
What a fantastic way to learn about the subtleties of Thai cooking with a tour around the organic garden and then learning how to cook several dishes from scratch. Best was a brilliant instructor/chef who taught us how to make our own paste for various delicious Thai classic meals. Although several of the small group had different meals he ensured we all knew what we were doing and ended up with delicious meals.
A great experience! Prompt pick up from hotel and then to a market to learn more about Thai spices and vegetables . The cooking school is set in beautiful garden full of organic herbs to use in our cooking. Our teacher , Noon , was great , explaining each step as we prepared our various Thai dishes to cook and then eat . Great fun ! I’m now a Pad Thai expert!
