Itinerary
Guests will meet your guide for this half-day tour in the lobby of any downtown accommodation in Chiang Mai before heading out to marvel at some of Chiang Mai’s most notable monuments. The journey commences driving out of the city centre towards one of the most sacred temples in the country. The 600-year-old temple of Wat Pra That Doi Suthep, near the summit of Suthep Mountain, has to be an unmissable stop for any serious Chiang Mai aficionado. After a drive up the mountain’s winding road, the final climb to the site is via a magnificent Naga (dragon-headed serpent) staircase of 306 steps. Inside is an intriguing copper-plated Chedi topped by a five-tier gold umbrella which contains partial relics of Lord Buddha. On a clear day, there are incomparable views over the city of Chiang Mai.
After descending via the serpentine road down to Chiang Mai and the continuation of our tour, we reach the holy grounds of the Wat Chedi Luang. Once the home of the famous Emerald Buddha, it has become of the more revered temples in Chiang Mai. This temple once possessed the tallest Chedi until an earthquake in the 15th century toppled the upper section. Today, it still towers 60 meter high.
Then, continue by walking to Wat Phan Tao, an ancient temple is known for its exquisite Lanna-style ordination hall entirely made of teakwood, it is one of the few remaining all wooden structures of its sort in Chiang Mai.
The last stop is made at Talat Warowod, the city’s biggest market. A beehive of trade, it is located in the heart of the city and has long been favoured for its hustle and bustle. Particularly the wet market section is favoured where fresh fruits and vegetables in season form a colourful palette. After leaving the market, we head back to your downtown hotel.

This an excellent tour. Tammy our guide was very knowledgeable and took care of us. We loved all the little extra things she did for us.
We were lucky enough to have the tour to ourselves and we learned so much about the history of the temples and Chiang Mai that we wouldn’t have gotten with a self guided tour.
Good size of city with beautiful mountainous view. Not too crowded, but it is easy to get anywhere in the city. Beautiful temples. Good food of course. Night markets with music are pleasure evening entertainment to be after a beautiful day.
We went to doi Suthep, phra lay, and chedi luang. Timi was an excellent guide. She customized the trip for us per our request. At the end of the temple tour we went to warorot market. She knows the market like the back of her hand, took us to best shops for street snacks and food. Overalll, we had an excellent experience. Do not miss Phra Lat!
Great tour. Would recommend. Tinny, our guide, was very knowledgeable and friendly. Excellent views of the city besides the temple stops.
Our guide, "Nu" (?sp) was soft-spoken yet engaging with perfect, easy-to understand English. He had amazing knowledge of history and world affairs. He was happy to take pictures for us, but did not pressure us to take a picture every minute! We did a walking tour of the center of town and saw things beyond what was on the itinerary. We started at What Phan Tao, a small temple, but in authentic Lanna style. We then went to a vendor who sold candles based off the day of the week we were born. We lit this and added it to the others as we made a wish. Next to the massive "pyramid", Wat Chedi Luang Varavihara, with its huge carved elephants. We made an impromptu stop at a place where Bhuddist monks sat outside with the goal of improving their English by speaking with strangers. I learned a lot about a monk's life in a dialog with an 18 year old monk. Now into the A/C van (thankfully, as the day was hot!) for a wiggly ride up to the Wat Phra That Don Suthep. If you get carsick, you should consider taking seasick medicine for this ride. This temple was impressive with lots of gold. The crowd has dwindled a bit since it was 4:00 PM. We got more than our money's worth on this trip with awe-inspiring, knowledge instilling experiences!
Extremely knowlegable and passionate tour guide - Mick. Showed temples, city market, helped with tasting and everything else
Very enjoyable tour with extremely nice and knowledgeable guide - highly recommend this half day tour. We selected the afternoon private tour option and they were very flexible to our needs, however I’m sure this tour would be great in small group too. We learned a lot about the temples and Chiang Mai.
We had a lovely tour on Tuesday afternoon, just the right length and saw some lovely sights. The guide was very friendly and happy to explain lots of elements of Thai and Buddhist culture.
Very knowledgable and fun. Shared a lot of culture and history. Very well-planned and we saw a lot. Great tour!
Informative and friendly guide Krisada gave us an afternoon well worth the money. All three temples turned out to be magical subjects for my camera. Visit to Doi Suthep included a short ride to the top by a funicular but you could also scale over 360 steps on foot. Views and atmosphere in all places priceless. Transportation between the three temples by a comfortable, air conditioned van. Highly recommended. Tour starts at 1pm and you are back in time for dinner.
Just the right amount of time for two seniors. Our guide, Yaya was fantastic. Her knowledge of the are and history made for a complete adventure
Kris is a very nice personne, very good knowledge of history And very kind with us Very nice to have a car for us I strongly recommend this company to discover chiang mai
Really good trip and the guide was extremely knowledgeable. It wasn't too busy as it was the rainy season, so we had plenty of room to see things. Thank you
We thoroughly enjoyed the tour of Wat Phra That Doi Suthep and Wat Chiang Mai. We also enjoyed the visit to the city market. The tour guide took us to Wat Chiang Mai, which is different than the tour description, but was definitely a good location to visit. Our guide was very knowledgeable of the temples and Buddhism. He told the story of the Buddha and the temples in a very clear and understandable manner. We learned a lot that day. The only detraction was when we left Do Suthep. Our guide took us to the Jade Museum and Factory, which is located near the entrance of Wat Phra Doi Suthep. It felt like a high-pressure sales visit, trying to get us to buy jade jewelry. This part was not what we were looking for and not appreciated. I would recommend the tour we took, but definitely not the jade experience.
It was very good for the parts we saw, but our guide skipped over one of the temples unfortunately (maybe due to time?). Overall though it was very nice. They picked us up and transported between places, provided water, and showed us everything at a good pace, very informative, very nice tour guide, but like I said we skipped one of the temples which was kind of a bummer.
We really enjoyed this tour. The tour guide was very informative & we enjoyed learning all that we heard. We were taken to several locations & it was nice not having to worry about parking. We were dropped off & picked up right in front of the temples.
The guide was very knowledgeable, we learnt a lot about Buddhism and the story of Buddha when we reached Doi Suthep. We didn't see Wat Chedi Luang or Wat Phra Singh, the guide took us instead to Wan Chiang Man which is the oldest temple in Chiang Mai. Nonetheless, it was a good day and we went to a local market to try some local dried fruit and bamboo worms!
We did the afternoon tour and it was fantastic. We saw and learnt so much. The guide was awesome, super knowledgeable and accommodating. Definitely value for money.

excellent tour, the guide is knowledgeable and friendly, highly recommend

We were the only 2 on this tour which made for a very personal service. The guide was very careful to take us round at our own pace and we were never rushed. He had an amazing knowledge of local history and that of Buddhist culture. His English was very good and easy to understand.

Temples were stunning. Our guide was so informative. A great tour.

Tour bem organizado, interessante e contamos com um guia (Jack) super simpático, conhecedor e que falava um ótimo inglês. Recomendo!
I hired Asian trails for various tours and they were spectacular. The Processing in every city in Thailand was perfect. Especially for the MIc guide in Chiang Mai, it was excellent! With great additional tips. I would surely hire this Enterprise again
Una experiencia maravillosa la guía una gran profesional y muy atenta con nosotros explicaba de maravilla todos los templos el mercado y constantes de Tailandia
Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, which has been around for 600 years, is located near the summit of Mount Suthep. After driving up the winding road of Mount Suthep, we attempted to climb the 306 steps of the stunning Naga (dragon-headed snake god). In the precincts of the mountain, there is a golden chedi (stupa) with five layers of umbrellas on the top, which houses Buddha's ashes. From the observation deck, there is a panoramic view of the city center of Chiang Mai. Wat Chedi Luang, in the old town in the moat, is a famous temple known for once housing the famous Emerald Buddha. It was once known as the tallest chedi (stupa), but an earthquake in the 15th century destroyed the upper part of the chedi. The current height of the pagoda is 60m. Am I the only one who feels blinded by the massive stacks of red bricks that remind me of history? The last stop of the half-day tour is Wat Phra Singh, another famous temple in the moat. Made about 1,500 years ago, the sacred Buddha statue is a face of calm that soothes the soul. Wat Phra Singh means "Temple of the Lion" in Thai. Built in the 14th century to house the ashes of King Kam Phu, it served as a religious symbol of the Lan Na dynasty. With its diverse architectural styles and artistic values, Wat Phra Singh is considered to be the most representative ancient temple in Chiang Mai.
